  1. The final Howl-O-Scream house (or in this case, experience) has been announced for the 2014 season! http://seaworldparks.com/howloscream-tampa/attractions/haunted-houses/zombie-containment-unit/
  2. Sandstorm was originally planned to be re-located to a plot near the entrance of Gwazi Park by the special events pavilions. I'd imagine the park's greater plans for that section of the park were enough reason to cancel those plans and to send the ride to Sesame Place.
  3. ^SeaWorld San Antonio just announced several new additions to the park in addition to the Blue World Project. SeaWorld Orlando has confirmed that it will be getting a new Clyde and Seamore show. There is no indication to believe that no other projects will be started and/or finished in the time it takes for these parks to complete their respective Blue World Project expansions. As for the smaller tank question, each stadium has several secondary tanks behind the show tank, and those secondary tanks are regularly drained and resurfaced every few years while the remainder of the complexes' tanks remain fully operational. Considering that the overhead view supplied with the announcement shows this expansion only directly linking to one of the secondary tanks and a few of the holding pods, it is probable that the impact will be as minimal as the standard refurbishment of one of those tanks typically is, albeit for a slightly longer period of time.
  4. ^^^Thsnk you for posting that! The overhead view actually helps a great deal when visualizing how much space can be used for this project.
  5. ^Doubtful... But then again, there are plenty of us that don't feel like SeaWorld has any need to be redeemed. Either way, this looks like an incredible addition to each of the three parks. Definitely interested to see just how quickly work will begin on SeaWorld Orlando's version!
  6. Fun Spot has sent out a newsletter announcing three new attractions for Fun Spot America!
  7. Based on recent permits it is believed that a new resort will be built adjacent to the Loew's Royal Pacific Resort with the new property sharing linked convention space with Royal Pacific. The only thing confirmed at this point is the expanded convention space.

  12. I really do love how much effort Herschend Family Entertainment has been putting in to their expansions at Solver Dollar City and Dollywood, and this new expansion looks like another solid win for the park!
  13. http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/index.html Three more houses for Halloween Horror Nights 24 have been announced and they are all original concepts! http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/hhn24-original-content/
  14. I doubt we'll ever see Canada's Wonderland take out Flight Deck only to replace it with a B&M invert. While the quality of the ride experience is worlds apart, the general public looks at both rides as basically accomplishing the same thing. It's be a wasted investment for the general public, which is who supports the park's profits most heavily.
  15. Just keep in mind that almost never will you find a park willing to disclose their multi-million dollar expansion plans via email, so often times it is simply easier to say "stay tuned," because they will eventually announce something for the park, whether it be for this year or for years off. That also being said, most parks employ a guest communications team to reply to those kind of emails and rarely are those guest communications employees privy to the expansion plans of a park, typically until they are announced or right before they are announced.

  18. Twister is definitely beginning to be a little dated but it is still a classic kind of cheesy that I thoroughly enjoy. That being said, Universal has been a big player when it comes to "Musion" technology, the projection tech that allows physical sets to interact with digital projections of real life characters that look like they are physically there. The technology has already been used in Disaster! (Frank Kincaid), Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Dumbledore) and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts (Bill Weasely and Griphook), so Universal is no stranger to the system. I don't know that the technology would be enough to carry a show on its own, but it would make for an interesting part of a larger experience if one were to be developed.
  19. It is hard to believe that the ship was there for so long. They were extremely lucky that the potential complications that could have come up along the way did not happen... It'll be especially interesting to see the photos from the scrapping process once it begins.
  20. I never had the chance to experience it during my one visit to the park a few years back, but from what I understand it was pretty tired. Given Universal's spending and quality habits when it comes to updating their parks in the last few years, I'm sure whatever will replace the House of Horrors will be a quality addition.
  21. I miss Tokyo Disneyland so much and this new show isn't helping when it comes to me coping with the fact that I haven't been since 2006...
  22. ^I'm pretty sure that Six Flags is on the Rocky Mountain Construction kick.

  24. It is surprising to see the ride retired so soon after the Sea Viper upgrades were completed. I wonder what must have changed in the four years to make the ride less capable/reasonable to operate now than it was when the upgrades first happened.
