  1. Anyone remember Disney's River Country? The first water park to be built as a part of the Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1976 and closed in late 2001. Since that time, the park has been left to rot, away from the general view of guests, most of whom unaware that such a place ever existed. Slowly nature is reclaiming the remains of the former water park. Disney has put out a Notice of Commencement that work will begun on the nature trail leading to River Country (presumably to stop anyone from getting close to the place anymore), found here: http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/downloads/20100083158.pdf?parent=DOC546S21112&id=DOC546S21112.A0 A reader of the Disboards was also able to explore the park and document the state of the former venue. I have selected some photos from the report, but go ahead and visit this link if you'd like to see every photo.
  2. New photos of the state of the former Nara Dreamland Park in Japan as of 2008 (that crazy-awesome knock-off park that Robb and Elissa visited back in 2004, seen here) have surfaced at the Urban Exploration Resource Forum here: http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread_archive.asp?threadid=59791
  3. The official Disney Parks Blog has posted some news about their new Disney Cruise Line Facebook page. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/

  10. A new article has been released speculating the delay for an IPO for Merlin Entertainments (not a specific theme park as the article describes). That means that at least for now, you won't be owning a piece of this company under the London Stock Exchange. http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/entertainment/blackstone-postpone-merlin-ipo/
  11. ^Add another 7 seconds for the photos that show you just about the same amount of detail, if not less.

  13. If it makes you feel any better, of all of the Arrow suspended coasters I've ridden, Flight Deck (at least when it was still Top Gun) was my favorite. And for Son of Beast, I rode it with the loop and loved it. But honestly, considering how many incredible rides I've gotten on GCI's, I wouldn't be upset to see either of them go.
  14. ^Not that that would be a loss in any sense... I would consider that a blessing for the park!
  15. As far as I remember, Son of Beast is built on the more flat part of Kings Island, so the terrain doesn't really fit unless you were to terraform. Not that my guess is by any means accurate, but my first thought when I saw these images in terms of the terrain was that of Six Flags Fiesta Texas with its interesting cliff sides and changing altitudes...
  16. The Six Flags Blog has posted their first official post-launch update:
  17. ^Summer Nightastic! is actually a play on the Disney name, Fantasmic!. This originated as a tie-into better promote the changes made to Disneyland's version of the popular show, and since Disney already had the license to the name, they went ahead and used it for their Summer promotion.
  18. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has sent us a press release about their latest act in their "Bands, Brew & BBQ" concert series. Another interesting note... Busch Gardens' website lists a new "Holidays at Busch Gardens" event under its special events page. From the looks of the logo alone, this seems to be a part of the SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment holiday event initiative that started with Seaworld Orlando's installation of the Polar Express Experience and has been carried out with the launch of Christmas Town at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. More information is set to be announced farther down the road, but we have a teaser image to tide us over in the meantime. http://buschgardens.com/Bgt/Explore/Events.aspx
  19. Seaworld Orlando has sent us a press release about their most recent visit from the popular comedian, Larry the Cable Guy. They have also included a humorous video for you enjoyment! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=LTCG_PENGUIN_FINAL_HD_lh93[/coastertube] Seaworld Orlando would also like to remind you that this week continues their concert series, "Bands, Brew & BBQ" with Montgomery Gentry performing on Saturday at the Bayside Stadium. 24. I'd never heard of Robot Land before today, but Gizmodo has posted some news regarding the proposed complex for Incheon, South Korea. http://gizmodo.com/5469516/a-first-look-at-robot-land-disneyland-for-terminators The park's official website includes lots of details about the project, including a good amount of concept art. Some of the better known investors include LG, Pico and Kawasaki. http://www.robotland.or.kr/eng/index.php
