Dollywood Coaster Car
pgathriller replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It couldve been because I really didn't look it over but they looked old not new like the Timber Tower. -
I went to Dollywood 2 days ago and when I was exiting from the Thunderhead and I saw a roller coaster train car behind a fence that does not belong to TT or Thunderhead. It looked like a suspended coaster car and it looked used. There were more pieces of it but I really couldn't see them. I could be a complete idiot and have the whole thing wrong but it looked definetly like a coaster car. I know it can't be for the new coaster Dollywood is building. Anybody know what it could be?

Nice Photo TR. The first picture you posted shows the cleanest entrance to a park I have ever seen in my life! I went to Dollywood when they opened the Thunderhead and ever since then they have added so many cool things that I will be going again next year. I cant wait! So why is the Timber Tower closed? Didn't it open when Dollywood opened? I remember the first time I went to Dollywood I waited for 2 hours to ride Rockin Racewy. My grandma ended up riding and went crazy because she doesn't drive and she thought the car was going to go off the track. The funniest thing you will ever see at a theme park is a 70 year old lady screaming like crazy on a slow car ride! * Advice* When at Dollywood, do not ride all the water rides in the morning knowing there will be no sun all day. I did, I stayed wet all day, very uncomfortable. I came out with wet shoes and socks and really painful feet.

I also like Conneaut lake park. I barely heard about it a couple of months ago when they were having financial problems. I researched the park and found some really intersting websites. It has a great history. I actually have a couple of random questions that I wonder about when I see stuff about Conneaut Lake Park. Anyway, I read on another forum that they were going to sell the Yo-Yo for about $15,000 to a private buyer because it was in such bad shape. Is this true or is it on the parks to do list to get it operating again? Besides the Blue Streak, which ride is the most popular? Im guessing the Super Round Up because that is the ride I hear about most often when I hear about Conneaut. I have never seen that type of Musik Express that Conneaut Lake has. Do you know who built it? Does it actually play music or go backwards? I have alot more random questions but I can't remember.

From- about.com Dust Off Your Ruby Slippers. You Could Be Off to See the Wizard. Plans for a park themed to The Wizard of Oz have been brewing for a few years. Developers originally set their sites on Kansas (for obvious reasons), but that project fell apart. Now, a Kentucky-based company has targeted Wheatfield, New York, near Niagara Falls, for The Magical Lands of Oz. According to the Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, developers revealed some details of the proposed $800-million, 442-acre park at a recent public meeting. Using the L. Frank Baum books and the classic film as their inspiration, they would present attractions such as a virtual tornado that would transport guests to Munchkin Land. (I'm holding out hope for a flying monkeys coaster.) Most of the park would be open year-round, and the destination resort would also include a hotel. If the project moves forward--and that's a mighty big if-- developers say that it could open by 2009. Other large-scale U.S. projects in the works (that may or may not proceed) include the Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (which has cleared all hurdles and is a virtual certainty), Utopia, an enormous movie studio/theme park complex proposed for Connecticut, a park in Arizona near the entrance to the Grand Canyon, and Georgia's Steamboat City, a park themed to the era when riverboats ruled the inland rivers.

Just One Question. What The Hell Is A Crazy House Ride? I have never seen one before. What does it do and who makes it? -
I was scanning Zamperlas website and found this new coaster they have made. I have always enjoyed Zamperla's line of coasters even though not quite thrill packed coasters, they give a nice ride. This new coaster looks like it would be a great addition to an amusement park in need of a popular family coaster. So what are your thoughts about it? Here's The Link- http://www.zamperla.it/scheda_prodotto.asp?ID=530

Top Thrill Dragster was built to be the tallest fastest coaster in the world but it was short lived. My idea is kind of weird but I want to know if it's possible. Some coasters get renovated so it's taller or shorter for speed purposes but can Top Thrill Dragster be modified so that it can be a couple of feet taller than Kingda Ka and then adjust the speed so the train can make it over the top hat and be faster than Kingda Ka. I know to do this they would have to add more track to the top hat and adjust the speed so it makes it through the circuit. So is this possible. I know Top Thrill and Kingda Ka has had major problems since they opened and modifiying it in this way would probably add to more problems but all I want to know is if it's possible. The benefits would be a more forceful launch because they say that Dragsters launch is weak, and it will regain it's title as fastest tallest coaster in the world. Cons would be even more problems and even more money. So what do you guys think?

Cliff's Sky Ride

^ A large woodie is going to have to wait for a while. Western Playland took out a major loan for the move and it was really expaensive with all the ground work. The owner is planning to buy 3 new rides by opening day this May but no woodie. Afer those three rides he won't buy any more for about 3 years so he can pay the loans. He want's a wooden coaster and that's one of the reasons why he moved. He now has 75 acres so expect a wooden coaster but not now. He also has plans for a water park! As for Crispy saying that Cliff's was too small for a sky ride, so was Western Playland. The 2 parks were the same size and Western Playland had one at the old park. He kept it there but it was pretty popular. The old Western Playland had a train that only had one station too but now it's moving to the new park and got a new paint job. One worker said it looks great. Can't wait for Western Playland to open!!! -
Western Playland was an amusement park here in El Paso and is finishing the last touches of there move in New Mexico. I have inside with workers from Western Playland and I found out that the sky ride that I thought was new was actually the old one from Cliff's in New Mexico. It is now yellow and red and the cars have been repainted. Looks as good as new. When the sky ride was at cliffs, was it painted many different colors? I don't think it was but it looks great at Western Playland. I was talking to a worker at the park and learned some cool stuff about the park. If you have any questions about the park let me know because I know just about everything about this place. Sorry I don't have a picture of the ride.

I am going to work at an amusement park soon as an assistant in maintenance. I always wanted to work on rides and I will be able too in a couple of months. Can you tell me what different maintenance procedures are taken on different rides like water rides, rolle coasters, etc. What type of parts are on different rides and how do you keep a ride running in top shape. What type of maintenance tests are checked every morning before the ride opens. Please help me fellow TPR members. Any information is appreciated.

I am turning 16 and I am gonna start working at an amusemen park. I want to start my career in the amusement industry. I know you can't operate rides until your 18, but I want to learn how to operate rides. When I am interviewed for being a ride operator, I want to know what I'm talking about. I also have been curious how to operate rides. I need your your help on how to operate rides. If you have operated a ride, put what ride it is and describe how you operate it. It can be a roller coaster, thrill ride or kiddie ride. Any info no matter how small will really help me. I am always trying to learn new things about rides and stuff and now I'm interested in how they work. Thanks to all those that reply. *Is there any place on the internet where you can download ride manuels? If anybody has some laying around that they don't need anymore and wouldn't mind leting me have them, let me know. Thanks!

I have been on many sky lift rides but I have always wondered how they worked. When I look at them they dont look safe because it's connected to a thick wire and it looks like a gust of wind can flip it over. I know they are safe and I usually ride them but I have always wondered how they work. I mainly want to know how they stay secured to the wire thing. Can anybody clear it up for me? During the off season some parks bunch them up in the station or take them off. How do they do that? For those of you who don't know, im talking about these- http://www.ncstatefair.org/webgraphic/e ... ylift2.jpg

We can buy this ride and put it in our Theme Park Review Amusement Park. Since we can't afford new rides, we'll find random rides thrown in random fields! -

I voted for Katun. But you were right. If Dueling Dragons were on the poll, it would blow out all the other ones. No competition. -

I have never heard of there problems with Chaos. What type of problems are there? I also haven't seen a trend of parks removing them either. I have only rode one at Cedar Point. Is it still there? Tell me more about this. Chaos is one of my favorite flat rides.

I was checking out Chance Morgans website the other day and I only saw a couple of their rides. I saw Revolution, Wipeout, Pharaohs Fury, Yo-Yo and Inverter/Double Inverter. Does that mean thats the only rides they are making. I remember they had the Zipper and Chaos rides on their website. So my question is, Is Chance Rides only making the rides on their website or are they still making all their other rides. * I love the Chaos and I would hate it if they stopped making it.

Another credit question

The Greezed Lightnin' from PGA sat in pieces in that parking lot for years and I heard that it was vandalized and some things were stolen. I wonder how useful it will be for spare parts now. * Also, what ever happened to the shuttle loop at Astroworld? I haven't heard anything about it. It's still in working order and I would hate to see it go down for spare parts.
