Western Playland's Big Move!
pgathriller replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite thing about Western Playland is Drop Zone. It's not the tallest but it's awesome when you and your friends go 21 times in a row. We have the record according to the ride operator. -
Western Playland amusement park is a park that nobody knows about but I live 15 minutes away from it. They are moving to New Mexico and I put info about Western Playland and there big move on my website. Check it out! www.extremethrills.bravehost.com * I am still working on my website but I decided to put the Western Playland info on it so everybody can learn about the park.

What's new for PGA in 2006?
pgathriller replied to Tmcdllr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here are some ideas I had. 1. Tear down the crappy Grizzly and the awesome Demon since there next to each other and make a gigantic hyper coaster. Pros- A new coaster finally Cons- A great coaster goes down, 2 coasters go down and only one coaster goes up. 2. Tear down the Grizzly and make a good wooden coaster. Pros- A crappy coaster goes down and a good coaster goes up Cons- None, the Grizzly is a crappy coaster. Let it fall! 3. Tear down PGA altogether. There's enough theme parks in California. Use the money to make the other Paramount's Parks even better than they are now! * I really wouldn't like this to happen, it was just an idea. Here are some other things I thought about. *The last new thrill ride they added was the Delerium in 2000 I think. *2 coasters went down and 0 have gone up. *They removed Triple Play and the Himalaya type ride. *The only new thing they have added was a water park. *From the way it's going, it seems like regular rides are going down and the water park keeps expanding. What if they remove all the rides and just made one mega water park! *They just don't need a new coaster they need a whole new thrill ride package. They should take out their old thrill rides and upgrade to better ones. *The park is not as good as it was maybe 5 years ago. For us ethusiest, Great America isn't as much fun as it used to. It used to be my favorite Theme Park and look at me now, I'm ragging about it like as if it was the worst place ever. *My title is PGATHRILLER but now it should be PGABOREDOM! -
I was thinking for once. Some rides run on gas and since the price of gas is sky rocketing, is it effecting theme parks in any way? Are the Tin Lizzies at PGA gasoline powered? If they are, this would be one of the rides that would be a pain and would raise maintanence costs every year. I'm pretty sure that the gas prices are really hurting traveling carnivals in some way. They have to pay to keep there trucks going and there power generators operating. I would hate to see this happening but due the high gas prices maybe you will see some rides disapearing in parks like the Tin Lizzies (If they are gasoline powered). What are your opinions?

Nice pictures! * Coaster 1- is your avatar one of the skillets at Dollywood?

Post why you picked the manufacturer and your favorite ride they made. EDIT- I like Huss Troikas and there enterprise rides the best. I cant belive PGA removed both the Huss Troika and Orbit.

Will Greased Lightnin' ever operate again? It's been sitting in the parking lot at Six Flags Marine World in pieces for 2 years now. It was bought by Six Flags from PGA for 1 million dollars (correct me if im wrong). It's old and finding new parts for that type of coaster is hard now a days. I heard that pieces were stolen from the parking lot and it's incomplete. This used to be on of my favorite rides and I would love to see at operate again but I don't think it will happen. Do you think it will open again or just be scrapped? Here's pictures from rcdb- http://rcdb.com/ig2379.htm

Hated coasters you like.

I really like the Grizzly at PGA. Everybody says that it is boring, rough and a waste of room at PGA. It was my first coaster and I like it! -
A new Cedar Point!
pgathriller replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I also forgot to add that if Cedar Point won't make a theme park here that El Paso might buy the coaster for sell at Cedar Point. Does anybody know of a coaster that is up for sell at Cedar Point? -
In the El Paso Times a week ago it said that the city represenitives took a trip to Cedar Point to get ideas for a new theme park they want to build here in El Paso. Our 15 acre amusement park that sits in Ascarate Park is moving to New Mexico and the city wants to build a massive theme park to raise tourism. The owner of Western Playland was mad because the city never told him what they wanted and never gave him more land for expansion. After being here for 45 years, he said it's sad that he's leaving and they are going to put in a massive theme park. The city is trying to get Cedar Point to put up another coaster park right here in El Paso. El Paso has always been cheap and and now with a new mayor, he wants more for the city. I think this is great and the city represenatives was very impressed with Top Thrill Dragster (You have to remember that this is El Paso and many people don't get out much). I think it is awesome that this new mayor is trying to make El Paso better than the sh*^ hole it is now. What do you think about this?

I am trying to gather a list that has as many rides that have been dismantled and are now in storage. I want any rides except roller coasters. So it could be thrill rides, kiddie rides, water rides, etc. The list may be stupid but I need it. You can also add rides that are standing bot not operating. Please post a picture if you have one. * Thanks

This is a stupid question but why is the top part of Top Guns trains painted to look like a shark. What does sharks have to do with Top Gun? * Top Gun is still one of my favorite coasters!
