  1. Although I was pretty young, I seem to remember that Disney DID bid for Sea World/Cypress Gardens back when HBJ owned them and they were up for sale...then Busch outbid them. Anyone know for sure?
  2. Ahem, there's a lot more than 2 Busch parks...try 10 2 Busch Parks 3 Sea World Parks 3 Water Parks Discovery Cove Sesame Place 3 Parks being built in Dubai
  3. IOA- Incredible Hulk- I listen to Linkin Park- With You (Reanimation remix)...I love it
  4. First, I don't like the tone of that imagineer on Jim Hill's site. As an artist you have to take the good with the bad and some criticism is valid that they've received the past several years, however we as fans must also realize there's usually several forces at work. There's the budgets that get set, the marketing goals these days that are added to attractions, sponsors that have to be happy with the end result (in cases like SSE), guest surveys, and probably things like guests per hour that have to be taken into account. That said, I think the hype and publicity by Disney has been really high because after this, there isn't much they've announced. Therefore people who don't see this as a good D-ticket are not going to be satisfied.
  5. Hmm, maybe it was only 2006 that happened. I was there a few times last year but didn't notice if it was different
  6. No, Food and Wine is separate from DDP. The food is varied, there's usually 18-20 countries with various things, but the portions are not big and they are expensive ($4-7 each). So expect to pay $20-30 to make it feel like a meal. It IS fun though, as long as you go when it's not too crowded.
  7. This is why I'm not a fan of displaying my works in progress because things could change in a month or so when the park opens...who knows how they'll finish it, but I would venture to guess they will be adding things to these areas since it does look pretty barren right now.
  8. No, Universal already announced plans as well. As for the beer part...it's a BUSCH park. Its going to be very weird if they open a park without beer
  9. First, I think Dubailand is absolutely the biggest project ever, or it appears to be... What strikes me, however, about the models which I've seen in pictures before, is that it all has a very RCT feel to it, although I can't point to why exactly. I'm very curious as to how they expect to transport guests everywhere, and how to keep everything staffed, all of the food and merchandise in place, etc. I know how much WDW does, and overall it's about 1/10th to 1/20th the scale of this project overall.
  10. As I know the story, Universal bought all of the Wet'n'Wild parks several years ago, then sold off all of them EXCEPT for the I-drive location, which as far as I'm aware is still owned by Universal.
  11. Oh please...every park around here sells alcohol except for Magic Kingdom of course
  12. The Land is fine, but I can't imagine how Jungle Cruise would be without a skipper, it just wouldn't be the same.
  13. That's just it though, Universal wouldn't build DCA At the same time Disney was building DCA, Universal was building IOA...classic case of right vs. wrong theme park design
  14. Top 5 Amusement parks maybe, it doesn't even come close as a theme park to being in the top 5 IMO
  15. Ok, now I feel bad Sorry Elissa I know you have a ton of stuff to take care of, not even considering this message board. but im always anxious to see pics of DisneySea
  16. Actually, knowing Disney of recent times, they'll take an idea like this and slash the budget so badly that what we end up with isn't anything special. Let's hope I'm wrong. BTW, if they DO somehow add augmented reality aspects to this attraction then they will surely have a huge hit.
  17. I was having a bad day until I read that JP shirt...wtf?? I love Engrish
  18. I want to go to Japan so badly....maybe next year I can go...such a cool looking place.
  19. I heard at one point they were going to stop running the monorail around SSE and make it a shuttle until the wand was removed...guess that wasn't necessary (yet)
  20. The problem is that the wand, for many of us fans was a major symbol of everything that is/was wrong with Disney in the late Eisner era. Put up a tacky, cheap looking structure on the side of Spaceship Earth so that people dont forget that its a Disney park? it was very poor and doesn't represent what EPCOT was supposed to stand for
