1. Nice find . . . . gotta love an old school custom Arrow Looper
2. Diamondback was the upper half of Lightning Loops . . . and it's one of only 3 remaining (along with Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens and Revolution at Blackpool Pleasure Beach) Arrow launched shuttle loops in the world
3. Glad you had fun at Frontier City . . . also glad they have their Summer Concert Series (which I think more parks should do)
4. VR on Mind Eraser again . . . . . what the hey, I'll give it another shot. And Roar was closed again today, but I could see maintenance trucks and a couple of large dumpsters behind it (a view from WW:LOT), so it could be that they're working on the track. No stunt shows again today, but I did get an answer (from one of the entertainment ushers) why. The stunt crew has been rehearsing new fight scenes for the show.
5. Roar was closed again today . . . . . didn't see a "closed for the season" sign nor did I see any RMC guys there. Great weather today . . . . but no performances of the stunt show today. Roar was closed on Tuesday too. Maybe this could be a sign of an RMC makeover in the next year or two? Also, Six Flags doesn't have "closed for the season" signs. When Two-Face was SBNO for the entire 2008 season, there was a sign similar to the one in front of Roar's entrance all season. We'll have to wait and see if an official announcement regarding Roar comes out. the longer the "closed for the day" sign remains . . . the more I wonder
6. I can't recall where the water balloons and tennis ball games were? But if I could think of a coaster to build at SFA . . . . I'd have a B&M Hyper . . . . 2 trains (red/white, black/gold) . . . . 263.2 feet high
7. Roar was closed again today . . . . . didn't see a "closed for the season" sign nor did I see any RMC guys there. Great weather today . . . . but no performances of the stunt show today.
8. 1. Try to hit up Superman: Ride of Steel and/or Batwing first. They usually have the longer lines . . . . and don't forget the Wild One 2. Definitely Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth, Vodoo Drop, Blizzard River 3. I like Chop Six or Crazy Horse Saloon 4. DC area traffic during the week sucks . . . . (park related), if you can, try and catch the stunt show in the Stunt Arena (12:30, 4 and 7:15 are the showtimes) or the EFX 360 show in the Grand Theater (1:30 and 5)
9. And Blizzard River usually doesn't open until 11:30 . . . . . (I actually have ridden it a couple times this season, of course with my water shoes on, as I don't want to walk around with soggy shoes/socks). But yeah, more shade would be nice. Summers in Maryland can get hot at times (but rarely into triple digits)
10. I wish if I competed in that, I would have beat all of them But I also find it unhealthy at the same time. I don't think my esophagus could handle all that funnel cake . . . .
11. TTD is smooth as butter, I'm telling you it's a totally different ride. I rarely ride Ka because even in the front I feel like I just got smacked on the back of the head with a frying pan. I don't know why it's so much worse than Dragster. Clearly SF doesn't care about maintenance as much as CP and maybe the heaviness of the OTSRs make it more difficult to launch, who knows. The good news is I have the opportunity to ride Dragster once a year. The bad news is, it's completely ruined Ka and made it almost unrideable by comparison! Either way, do yourself a favor and Get To The Point. By comparison on two different aspects: 1. Which has more downtime: KK or TTD? 2. Dispatch times?
12. So last Sunday the 16th was National Funnel Cake day and SFA had a funnel cake eating contest. I decided to record it on video (it's not pro quality . . . but who cares, I was having fun watching it; and please excuse the part where I clear my throat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzwjjwVJt8M
13. Well for what it's worth . . . I liked Fright Fest (first time I ever did it). Unlimited refills of hot chocolate . . . . coasters in the cold . . . I was fully prepped for the crowds (they'd send about 10-15 people at once) . . . and my favorite was "The Haunting of Hall Manor: The Return of Eleanor" . . . the crumbling Hall Manor is eerie
14. How many people does KK need before it launches? (and I'm not surprised at all for the bonus weekends that only 1 train is being used)
15. It gets worse as the event goes on. September weekends aren't terrible if you go early and leave well before sunset. Going at all on decent weather days in October, especially late October, you're looking at mobs of people. They've added a couple "bonus" weekends in November after FF ends and before HITP begins. These weekends the past two years have turned out to be really light crowd-wise and all but Frontier (Bizarro, Mine Train, SORA) have been open. Good weekend to get those last rides in on Toro Ka and Zum. Unrelated - if anyone cares, Runaway Mine Train's track piece has been replaced and its running again. Bonus weekend in November between FF & HITP . . . . cooler weather and not so bad crowds. Sounds like fun (I'd do either that or HITP . . . . _
16. True . . . that's where the line for the "Hall Manor: The Return of Eleanor" haunted attraction is
17. 1. Heck yeah, new ME trains would be awesome. It would actually get people to ride an SLC 2. Wouldn't surprise me if that happened. If it does get named for Aquaman . . . . Aquaman's Whirlwind? (and yeah, right between BW and S:ROS) 3. Possibly . . . 4. But where to put it? 5. Nachos rule! 6. see #4 7. If that does happen, I'd expect them to make an announcement soon. 8. As for the stunt stadium . . . well, like I said, the only time I saw something there this year was back in May (a cheer/dance team competition). I remember back in the 90's, they used to do a Batman stunt show in that stadium . . and even last year, they had the Mr. America bodybuilding/fitness show, as well as the BMX show and a dog show. If they don't make use of the arena . . . that could be a place for a relocated V2 or 4D free spin. And I do see the maintenance crew have their cars parked there working on something . . . . 9. see #7 10. who knows . .
18. I remember a bunch of pages back, the Fright Fest crowds at Great Adventure are heavy. Was that just for the October FF days or are the September FF days packed? And is Flash Pass (or haunted house flash passes worth it) I figure if I do go up again, I'll hit up FF or HITP (I know for Holiday in the Park, everything beyond the midway is closed; so no El Toro, Bizzaro, KK, Zumanjaro, etc). Either way, it'll be fun coastering in fall/winter weather.
19. TC = Test Cycle . . . . How many test cycles does LR go through on a daily basis before opening?
20. That is awesome . . . . riding amusement rides while stoned (maybe being stoned would make Vekoma SLC's less painful)
21. About how much downtime does Lightning Rod average on a week to week basis?
22. I wish this would have been a bigger hit for the park. They put so much into the themeing. If only they kept up with it. Its the only coaster in the park with a theme that starts from queue to ride to exit. I think a conversion would be great for the park and ride itself. I would assume a conversion would be cheaper then building a totally new coaster. Now if Apocalypse did get a floorless conversion (and how much $$$ did it cost for the Mantis/Rougarou conversion?), would the ride name stay the same?
23. My bucket list is . . . well . . . the coasters at SFMM and/or Cedar Point
24. If you say so. I go probably too much...lol..I haven't even seen an argument. One reader from GAdv said it best. Save for maybe Disney, every park has its riff raff. We're not the GP. I haven't seen any real issues in years and the minor ones I have seen I have simply snapped into school teacher mode and corrected other peoples' kids. More importantly, Screamscape rumor of SF building two more 4Ds and theorizes a 2 in 3 chance that we get one. It would be awesome, however, I think a hand me down coaster is more likely. We could always repaint and retheme JJ and build the 4D Joker on the path from the Creek to Superman. Now if SFA got a 4D . . . paint it red & black and call it "Harley Quinn's Crazy Spin". At least they'd get points for originality/color scheme in theming
