  1. We were going to get the mini but I didn't feel like waiting in-line for hours. Since we wanted to have it before my wife's hospital stay next week we went with the Nexus 7 to hold us over. So far though I really like it and it will be perfect for what we need it for. We'll end up getting the mini eventually and giving the Nexus to my son.
  2. ^ Yep, Chicken Plantation. I believe it's one of the original park buildings so yeah, gonna be kind of weird to see it go.
  3. ^^ If Apocalypse and Ghostrider are your #1 and #2 Woodies it's obvious you haven't ridden very many or traveled very much. Ahhh, memories. I was there once. Gregg "Roar at SFDK was once my #1 woodie ... LOL" C.
  4. No question that Ghostrider would at least be in my top 3 wooden coasters (with El Toro and Phoenix) if it was running like it did in 1999-2000. If that was the case I'd probably end up at Knott's more than the 5-6 times per year I do currently. I've also come to appreciate Silver Bullet a bit more in the past few years than I did when it first opened. It's still not anywhere near the top of B&M Inverted coasters but when you factor in the lackluster rides that are B&M Flyers and B&M Floorless coasters it makes Silver Bullet look better.
  5. And by somebody who's never been to <> In the interest of not just repeating what has been said here, I'll just say I agree with some of the posts on the last few pages.
  6. - New Years at Disney: Sure, technically NYE, but it's our tradition (although this may be the last year) and last years was fun as always. - West Coast Bash Knott's Day: One of the most memorable days of any Bash ever. Great friends, great tours. - East Coast Trip: 8 days on the East Coast, SFGADv, Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney, SFA, KD, BGW and National Air and Space Museum. Truly epic and just a fun week with some great friends and my Son who may be "too cool" to do something like that again. We'll see next year. - ECB: Part of our East Coast Trip, but yet another TPR Bash that always seem to exceed expectations. Can't wait for 2013 bashes.
  7. Great addition to the park. Very fun ride. Just surprised that this was the only announcement tonight.
  8. Because it's Knott's I'm going with 44" even though the DCA and Legoland ones are 42". I actually think a much better "Family" ride would have been to get new or modified trains for Jaguar that would allow that ride to go back to a 42" height requirement.
  9. Another possibility is maybe this is just a placeholder for something else that will eventually take the place of Coast Rider/Boomerang.
  10. Apparently George is giving his $4 Billion to Charity. http://www.toplessrobot.com/2012/11/george_lucas_is_giving_all_4_billion_of_his_disney.php
  11. ^ Duh ... that's right. I just rode them last year too. LOL!! Ok, Flyers at a "Major" SoCal park.
  12. ^^ Also being overlooked ... Flyers in SoCal!!!!
  13. ^^ I think 2007/2008 is the last time the Scrambler was open. I'm guessing it's just been sitting in storage?
  14. ^ I'm not taking that bet. If you look at the stats of Technic Coaster compared to this one, they are almost identical: Coast Rider: 52' Ascent, 1339 feet of track Technic Coaster: 52' Height, 1312 feet of track.
  15. Hope this isn't going to end up being a direct clone of the Technic coaster at Legoland. Has anybody heard if the mouse at KD is being removed for some reason?
  16. New for 2012 rides I rode are Radiator Springs Racers, Verbolten, SkyRush, Transformers, LL:DOD (I think that's it). I wasn't disappointed in any of them, but I do think RSR was actually the most "overrated" of them all. It's a "fun" ride, but it's nothing that blew me away. CarsLand is great but I actually enjoyed Maters more than RSR. That was the one ride I thought would be too similar to the Francis' ride in Bugs Land but I was completely surprised by how much fun it was. For me, the biggest surprise was Verbolten. I really enjoyed it, great theme, fun coaster. Transformers completely blew me away as did SkyRush. LL:DOD was also a great addition to SFMM.
  17. This looks to be a great addition to the Boardwalk area. Taking out 1 ride for 3 (well 2 I guess since they are moving the Scrambler again?) is always a good trade-off.
  18. ^ I actually liked Congo. And JP 3 was better than 2 (IMO).
  19. Halloween is traditionally one of the LEAST busy days of Haunt, especially if it's during the week. Parents are taking kids Trick or Treating, many other once a year parties (like in WeHo) and by this point pretty much everybody who's wanted to go has gone. Halloween is pretty much the hard-core Haunt Fans. Should be a fun night, I was hoping to go.
  20. http://soundcloud.com/brosseaupr/2112-overture-royal?secret_token=s-bCx7H Royal Philharmonic Orchestra doing Rush's 2112. Apparently there is a full album of them doing Rush songs coming out in a few weeks.
  21. I disagree. Most food at DL is hardly at the level of a Chili's or TGIFridays IMO. And this is even with the positive changes they've made in the past year at DCA's restaurants. If the food was better I don't think EoS would be such a big deal. Personally, I'm happy it's here but I'm not rushing down to eat there anytime soon. We ate at the one in Orlando once and it was good, but not even close to the best sandwich I've ever eaten. It's probably on the level of a Jersey Mike's (IMO). Even the Philly Cheesesteak I had at the Ramada hotel in PHI a few months ago was better than Earl of Sandwich. My personal favorite sub is at a local place in Woodland Hills called Dan's Super Subs. I try and get there when I'm down that way for work.
  22. And this is what has me the most excited. Of course, once they announce the director/producer and somehow Bruckheimer is attached I'll be pissed. That's a great list Wes and honestly, I think any of them would do a better job than Lucas did with the prequel trilogies. There are SO many post Ep VI stories out there that they have a wealth to choose from not only for the next trilogy but for future movies. I would actually like to see the the "Heir to the Empire" series be VII, VIII and IX which would essentially close the book on the Skywalkers and then all future movies would just be independent from the original movies and not be Ep. X, XI, etc. Of course, a re-do of Ep. I, II, III would be totally fine as well.
  23. We made the mistake of going on Key Club day last year and it was probably one of the more miserable days at the park. There was a particular reason we stayed longer than we normally would have been but I can't think of it at the moment. I think we ended up leaving and having lunch at Lazy Dog or something.
  24. Nov. 10th is Key Club day, avoid SFMM at ALL COSTS!!! http://cnhkeyclub.org/events/fall-rally I'd do Knott's on the 10th, SFMM on the 11th in that case.
