The official NFL Discussion Thread

I totally agree Dave. Since my team is favored to get back to the game this year I hope it's not a complete Cluster **** but if they don't happen to get back ... bring it on!!! -
The track is not going to be anywhere close for somebody to jump up and touch it. That I can pretty much guarantee. As for people throwing stuff on the ride, there are plenty of other rides at SFMM where this is a possibility and it's never happened that I've heard. Most rides exits or entrances go over a portion of track at some point. I've never heard of somebody throwing something down on Apocalypse's track when it goes under the exit ramp. Or on X2's track when it goes under the walk way. Or all the years Revolution's last turn has been so close to the carousel and it's never happened. Sure some of SFMM's clientele may not be the brightest, but I honestly don't think this is going to be an issue. That said, I still wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of netting under the track. I really hope not because it looks really cool.

Wow, so apparently 25 years is the life-span for a stadium in the NFL these days? This has EVERYTHING to do with getting a Super Bowl. If it wasn't for Katrina I don't think New Orleans would have had this years game and with the whole lights going out thing I doubt it will be back anytime soon. If you look at the last decade, Super Bowls are certainly going to the new stadiums. 2004 - Houston 2005 - Jacksonville 2006 - Detroit 2007 - Miami (exception) 2008 - Phoenix 2009 - Tampa Bay 2010 - Miami (exception) 2011 - DFW 2012 - Indianapolis 2013 - New Orleans (exception) 2014 - NY 2015 - Phoenix And I believe the NFL has said they won't be back to Miami until they get a new stadium. -
There are two options here: 1) It's really not that close to the edge and nothing will need to be done 2) The blue fence is going to be moved and even the footer will be on the other side of it I'm going to the park tomorrow so hopefully the plaza will be open and we can see how close it is to that area. I do think they'll be some kind of netting underneath the track which is kind of sad because it looks very cool.

I think the original discussion was about lap bars only on Revolution which I think everybody would agree don't require the premier shin guards or anything more than a lap bar. Besides, that's not even the argument that the park makes when the question comes up. It's about the seat design or something. As for Revolution not being that good of a ride, it's certainly not right now. With the awesome trains SDL got I think it'd probably be in my top 3-4 coasters in the park.

The Ben thing DEFINITELY helped that movie win Best Picture, but IMO, it WAS the Best Picture of 2012. It's not my personal favorite (Django Unchained) but as a complete picture it was probably the best picture. Here's the thing about the Best Pictures from last year, they were all VERY good (I saw all of them except for Amore). These are the movies that would have won Best Picture in almost any other year: Django Unchained, Lincoln, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Zero Dark Thirty. It was a great year for movies.

The only Credit cards I have are my Corporate AmEx card and an AmEx gold card that we use only for travel and emergencies only. Everything else is strictly out of our checking account. If we don't have the $$ in our account to pay for it, we don't buy it. Even our Target card is the Target Debit card. You get the same 5% off without having to pay any interest.

^ Puhleese, according to westcoaster.net SFMM doesn't exist.

Since my wife is gone for a couple of nights I'm taking the opportunity to watch some movies that she never wants to watch. Yesterday I watched Gangs of New York and Monty Python's Life of Brian. On the list for today is The Da Vinci Code and The Godfather 1 and 2.

That was REALLY cool. NASA is certainly on the list for our next visit to FL. As a CA Native I remember watching the shuttles land at Edwards in the 80's and actually getting to hear rockets being tested at Rocketdyne when we lived in "The Valley". I had more of an affection for the Space Program because my Mom worked for Rocketdyne. After the shuttles stopped landing in CA and most of Rocketdyne closed down CA kind of forgot about NASA until they did the shuttle flyover last year, which was pretty awesome. I've already seen one shuttle in DC, one shuttle in LA and I guess I need to see the one in FL to complete the trilogy. Thanks so much for sharing Robb!!

Tim mentioned that after the tunnel is done they are going to do the track on the back-side, over Superman Plaza and down to the exit of the loop. Then the crane will be moved and they will do the station track prior to completing the Loop, Top-Hat and launch so they can do all the electronics, build the station, etc. They anticipate that vertical construction would be done by early April.
