  1. The thing I don't get is this. Rockstar have announced that they will be releasing a patch to remove the ability to use the Hot Coffee mod (which has now been taken off of GTAGarage and other sites by it's creator) from the PC version, presumably this will also have some game fixes and useful stuff in as well. They seem to also be re-issuing a modified "M" rating satisfying PC version. Does this mean they'll be re-issuing the XBOX and PS2 versions with fixes so it gets an "M" rating again too ? Reading between the lines of the assorted articles about this it seems they will be. If that is the case then what is all the fuss about ? I know it's a shame for all the people at the minute who want to buy the game and can't because Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target and more have said they won't stock the game either with an AO rating or with an M rating if it gets a fixed re-issue (which seems stupid to me to be honest). You can always buy it online
  2. Today's Pie Count: 1½ 1 Beef and Onion Pukka Pie From Middies Fish and Chip Shop, Gainsborough. ½ Steak Pie out of my fridge. Only half as Pucechan ate his yesterday and I felt sorry for him so I cut mine in half. Aren't I nice to him? Oooh, almost forgot, my in-laws (Pucechan's mummy and daddy), live on a narrow boat and we are visiting them tomorrow and they are taking us on a trip down the river. If we don't fall in and drown, we may do a Boat Trip PR! Something interesting is bound to happen that we can take photos of!
  3. No Problem, I hope it helps! I've never come across that error before and to be honest that solution just sounds like a last ditch effort, but if it works that's cool. There are a couple of threads on the Atari boards about uninstalling Soaked! so I hope they help you !
  4. Soaked! works fine on most NVIDIA cards, at least any Geforce 3+ card (excluding the GF4MX as it's essentially just a faster GF2) I've seen people with GF2's and GF4MX's having problems. Both myself and Bocakey have got NVIDIA cards, in my case a GF4Ti4400 and in Bocakeys case a Geforce FX 5200. The game runs fine. About that error message, I can find 2 references to it on the official board both responses suggested completely uninstalling both Soaked and RCT3, delete any left-over pieces then re-installing. Which to me doesn't sound like much of a solution but it's worth a try I guess As to why Soaked might not work on the same hardware as RCT3.. I expect it's because of the water effects, it probably needs shaders to work properly which could be why GF2/GF4MX peeps have problems (GF2 doesn't support them at all and GF4MX have limited shader support).
  5. I think the main problem with the whole ratings issue is that for the most part they are voluntary (I know that in some US states they are enforceable). In the UK games are rated in a two-tier system. PEGI (Pan European Games Information) voluntary classification and mandatory BBFC classification. All games are rated by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) in the same way that a movie would be. If the game qualifies for an official BBFC certificate ( usually 15 or 18 ) then it is enforceable by law and in theory at least shouldn't be sold to anyone underage. If the game doesn't warrant a 15 or an 18 BBFC certificate then the PEGI system comes into play, this is evaluated by the game developer then rated by PEGI. This is a purely voluntary rating meant as a guideline to parents. As far as I'm aware the ESRB ratings in the US are similar to the PEGI ratings here in that they are voluntary and just a guide. The problem in my experience in the UK is that the BBFC ratings are seen as voluntary even when they aren't. And even voluntary ratings are just ignored by most people. Stores don't check ID often enough (in the enforceable ratings case) or offer decent advice to parents (some who often are obviously buying the 15 / 18 rated game for little Jimmy stood by their side). The other side of the problem is that a lot of people, especially parents, still see video games as a toy, as something for children. Because of this they often ignore the ratings or don't care because "it can't possibly have anything as bad as a movie in it". The parents also need to take SOME responsibility and actually pay attention to what their kids are playing. Videogames are just the newest target to blame societies ills on. It was Videos in the 80's, it has been Music in numerous decades, it's Videogames in the 90's - Present. Instead of blaming entertainment society needs to take some responsibilty themselves. As for GTA's case, I think Rockstar made a mistake by leaving that content on the disc even if it was inaccessible in normal gameplay. Although I'm sure similar things happen in games development all the when ideas get scrapped.
  6. This was the funniest thing I have ever seen!! Kristi "needed a laugh" C.
  7. Only problem is, he MAY have been about to press a button to blow himself and others up. I'm hoping the cops must have known he was up to something naughty.
  8. I just hope they got the right guy. The problem I have with it, is that he appeared to be posing no threat to anyone. Most people would just get arrested for doing something wrong. I just think this will cause more trouble for London. Joanne "If they find that the guy had bombs on his body, then they were right to shoot him" Allison
  9. Yeah, WTF is going on in London? This is getting bad.
  10. I've gotta go with Godzilla. Although I have no doubt that the new King Kong will blow away the Godzilla movie from a few years ago. Gregg "Old School Godzilila is the tits" C.
  11. BIG Difference
  12. Mmmmmm fast food! Well we don't have many here but..... I love: KFC, McDonalds, Hung Wang, Marmaris, Pizza Bari I like: Burger King, Wimpy, Florentino's I don't really like: None, cos I haven't been to any others
  13. Well, here in the UK there's a lot less choice for Fast Food but here is my list. LOVE ------ Kentucky Fried Chicken Burger King Greggs (When I was in the US for awhile I loved Wendy's and Taco Bell too) and not exactly a fast food chain but our local Chinese take-away Hung Wang (no joke, that's what it's called) LIKE ----- McDonalds Wimpy LOATHE --------- Subway
  14. Yeah, the easiest way to do that is to load your park into Sandbox mode and just use the Day/Cycle/Night button on the top to select permanent daytime. Like phazan suggests, you could also alter the opening times in the Scenario Editor to keep it daytime.
  15. Dude, that is seriously the funniest damn thing I have ever seen. Thanks!!! Gregg "Didn't know I was famous!!!" C.
  16. Robb, I'm gonna steal your scale since it seems to make the most sense: 1 - My favorite Fast Food! 2 - Fast Food I really like a lot and would make a trip for 3 - Fast Food that I like, but wouldn't go out of the way for 4 - Fast Food that isn't very good, but I would eat it again if I HAD to. 5 - Fast Food that I don't ever care to eat again! Ok, here is my "1" list: Del Taco Panda Express Baja Fresh Hardees Arby's Yoshinoya Der Wienerschnitzel Wendys In-N-Out Quiznos Here is my "2" list: Subway McDonalds Panera Bread Cupids Hot Dogs Pizza Hut Carls Jr El Pollo Loco Fuddruckers Taco Bell Sonic Here is my "3" list: Jack In The Box Chick-Fil-A Sbarro Fatburger Koo Koo Roo Here is my "4" list: Papa John's A & W Boston Market Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill Here is my "5" list: KFC Long John Silvers Burger King Domino's Popeye's Chicken Johnny Rockets Schlotzsky's Deli Church's Chicken Gregg "I've got TOO MANY places in my "1" list" C.
  17. ^ Yeah, we saw them in Irvine. But ... they didn't play ALL of 2112, only the overture. They haven't played the full version since the Test for Echo tour. Sadly, I missed that tour so I have never seen all of 2112 performed. Maybe next tour!!!
  18. The thing that worries me more than anything is the fact they altered the rating based on something external to the game. Sure the code and models were left in the game but they were deactivated, nobody can get access to the "Hot Coffee" sex minigames during normal gameplay. They have to purposefully and willfully download a mod (for the PC) or use AR/Gameshark codes on XBOX/PS2 to get access to what are essentially laughably bad sex scenes. The whole furore about kids playing the game and seeing sex scenes is pathetic because GTA:San Andreas has (or should I say HAD) a 17+ rating in the US and a mandatory 18 rating in the UK so it should (in theory at least) not be seen or played by kids anyway. It's the parents responsibility to KNOW what their kids are playing. Back to the point at the top of the post, if someone hypothetically made pornographic mod content for RCT2/3 should the ESRB or BBFC (in the UK) be able to go back and change the games rating because of community made items ? (I know in the case of GTA the minigames weren't community made, someone just figured out how to switch them on) I don't like the precedent set by this. Modding could be heading for dark times. (AFAIK in the US the rating change is only a problem due to outlets not stocking AO games...)
  19. Damn, that's right. No use even looking at flights now. Gregg "We wouldn't have been able to go anyway" C.
  20. Beverly Hills is okay. The surrounding areas of West Hollywood, Westwood and Santa Monica are also okay. The general rule about SoCal is there are nice area's, but sometimes you have to go through crap to get there. Avoid Downtown LA and the area around USC. Avoid Watts and Compton as well. Most area's around the parks are not too bad. Buena Park, Anaheim, Valencia, Universal City, etc. If you are planning to go into Hollywood itself, I suggest going during the day. The area get's a bit questionable at night. It also depends on who you are traveling with. Post what hotels you are staying at and we can look at the areas around those hotels to avoid. General rule, if it looks bad, it's bad. EDIT: Looks like Robb beat me to it.
  21. By reading this, anybody else think that Michael Jackson would be the tram.
  22. Okay, so let me get this straight. You can pick up girls, on your "date" you go on a drive-by shooting. Then, you get sex as a reward. And what people are upset about is the sex? God this country is backwards. Gregg "What ever happened to Dinner and a Movie" C.
  23. What other cities are close to Dollywood to fly into? Looks like Knoxville, Nashville or Charlotte would be the other closest airports?
  24. How bad is the game? Not having played it, and yet having no desire to play it I'm not sure what the uproar is about. Like Wes said, it's funny that we can be as violent as possible, but show a boobie and it's crazy time.
  25. So wish we could go. Found $256 airfare from LA to ATL. Hmmm ...
