For those mentioning the usage of more blatant Halloween themeing at the park, its already been done before, back in the 90s to the early 2000's the Flooded Mine's final scene in the tower used to have some freaky looking ghosts with a laser show. -

At the moment no, but on another forum geared to the park itself, its being speculated that some big changes are said to be happening after this seasons fall festival with a lot stuff being announced as their final year, it is fair to presume that it could come to the park knowing how successful it was at DW. -

Even though yes B&M seems more likely to be their next coaster, an RMC hyper would tie into the crazy rumors of the SOB revival. -

Might want to check your scheduling. The park is back to their Wed-Sun operations. https://www.silverdollarcity.com/theme-park/Calendar Crowds are gonna usually be light thru the week and are almost nonexistent for rides as the festivals are the main focus. -

For those following the storm, it has happened. Landfall was made around 5:40am EST near Surf City, NC. Florence still a CAT1 hurricane. Moving very slowly WNW at 6mph. As for the park, as the storm moves further inland this weekend towards Charlotte, it should maintain Tropical Storm strength with 50-70 mph wind gusts and several inches of rain being likely. Yeah things are not trending in a good way for that area, thats for sure. Just recently visited the park for the first time at the end of August and loved it. Hope it is not too severely affected. People need to heed warnings and get out of its path. This could be bad. https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/CONUS_band.php?sat=G16&band=GEOCOLOR&length=24 -

All kidding aside, how awesome would it be if TPR had its own prestigious award in the amusement industry! Give a whole different facet to the review in ThemeParkReview! LMAO! I was waiting for someone to post that! -

Going to parks alone?
sdcfan88 replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I do it all the time. Makes it easier on the wallet and easier to marathon rides among other things without having to deal with people in a party complaining about wanting to do other things or having to track them down later if we decide to split up in the park. lol I remember back in the days before everyone had smartphones and cellphones if I was in a group we would wind up carrying around 2 way radios. -

Maybe it is too soon to post but quite a few speculate 2020 will be the next big addition to the park, and seeing the success with the large investment made on Time Traveler, do you think SDC will get another major coaster or a themed area? What and why? If not 2020 ...when? Personal preference I am still hoping for is something new from B&M, GCI, or even another Mack of some variety. It really makes me wonder on the latter as it seems like Brad and crew at SDC have developed a good working relationship with the guys at Mack Rides which could build on the success of Time Traveler. Would it be too farfetched to see a park invest in two major attractions (coasters) from the same company within a decades time? -

I was thinking a plausible RMC Topper/Hybrid combining prior RMC designs done with Outlaw Run, Steel Vengeance, and Wildfire and it being called "Revenge Of The Beast". Less likely would be a more classic design done by GCI, and if it were GCI to take on the task, it could be that company's largest coaster to date if that were to happen. With the same name as above. Like a bad movie sequel/remake. (but not actually bad this time around) -
That's odd! I visited a couple of years ago solo and I swear I must have ridden several of the rides in the back by myself. The only denial I recall from the park was not being able to ride solo on the log ride. Not sure how long its been in effect but could this be fallout from the NTAG incident? I was last there in early 2013 before it happened and I don't remember that being an issue.

I am surprised no B&M standup's have been converted into the unique style SDC's Wildfire uses. Its a sit down but with elevated seating. -

The DUKW was raised today. The first thing which was very apparent and damning was the fact that nearly all the life jackets were intact and still mounted to the rack of the vessel. http://www.ky3.com/content/news/PICTURES-Sunken-duck-boat-raised-from-Missouri-lake-488897941.html The lake depth here was also stated to have been 80+ feet. -

^ A lot of the fear issues I think is due to the Texas Giant incident. What most don't know is the cars used on NTG were not RMC's cars. -

I think they should just take out the first drop and the launch and just give it a 200 foot lifthill/drop and call it done. Make it step on the toes of Steel Vengeance a tiny bit. lol I know I will get some flak for that statement as I know it would destroy what makes this coaster unique but at least it would give Dollywood something a little more reliable killing two birds with one stone. -

Search and rescue called off and switching to recovery mode according to reports. This is really bad. As of this writing only 18 people have been recovered with 11 being dead. Over 30 people were reported on board. Despite the tragic outcome for the boat in question, I'm actually impressed these boats held up as well as they did. The other boat did manage to make it back safely. However, it appears that was because it was not fully loaded unlike the one that sank. If you see the videos this looks like something you would see from a storm out at sea, its crazy to see Table Rock look like that with them out there. The final death blow to the vessel is around 4:10, they also reported live on KY3 that they had wind gusts equal to a Cat3 Hurricane! http://www.ky3.com/content/news/CAUGHT-ON-CAMERA-Viewer-captures-Ride-the-Ducks--488687431.html Another article with various videos: https://heavy.com/news/2018/07/branson-duck-video-boat-sinking-sinks/ Alternate Link: POV video from the surviving boat: On another note, I could see how this could very well mark the end for Branson's Ride The Ducks Tours. The chain as a whole has unfortunately already suffered from a lot of bad publicity from other incidents across the nation. -

I am thinking probably 2021 will be the year for the next big thing. Also until then I really think they should invest in Flooded Mine and Fire In The Hole as they are in such a sad state of disrepair. 80 percent of the effects were not working on either when I rode them last Monday. It was so strange riding thru Flooded Mine as it was so quiet you would have thought you were in the middle of a funeral procession. Really disappointed. This is not an isolated case as a lot of people have been commenting about it on various forums and social media and even at the park. Also Flooded Mine just celebrated its 50th year at the park. Another comment I have seen on Facebook to SDC which I sadly have to agree with:
