  1. Not to be that guy but I really would hate to see SDC and DW pull a Six Flags and jump on the importing cloned coasters bandwagon if that really is a cookie cutter Vekoma coaster model being proposed. I thought they would be above that sort of thing. It would detract from the uniqueness of their parks.
  2. Knowing how Hershend does two park deals with manufacturers, has anyone considered this mystery coaster being Dollywood's answer to Time Traveler? https://mack-rides.com/products/rollercoaster/inverted-powered-coaster/
  3. Awesome featurette video! Glad they finally came out with this! Been trying to explain to people ever since this was announced how the "controlled" spinning will work as I previously mentioned it would be best described as a brake caliper for a giant disc brake similarly seen on a car. For anyone else curious You are welcome. haha
  4. Theming elements are finally starting to show up inside the Time Traveler station! Looking to be very much like Wildfire's building! https://blog.silverdollarcity.com/article/time-traveler-tuesday-update?cid=smc_000553
  5. Maybe they will get a B&M Wing themed to it in 2020 as a double tie-in lol
  6. Yeah SDC just put it on Facebook and YouTube Notice the lack of spin with the cars versus the animations we previously saw, granted its partially because there is no weight variance to cause the spinning but that is also part of the magnetic braking system that will control it, I do still see quite a few people being apprehensive about this. I think to help with this issue, the park should market and word it more along the lines of pivoting or turning versus using the term spinning. Again these are NOT gonna be your teacup type spinning cars. EDIT: Those launches are looking quite a bit more intense than what the animations showed.
  7. Thought I would share this little tidbit from the Facebook page of the construction company assisting with the construction of Time Traveler. Scroll down their feed to see lots of interesting behind the scenes photos of the construction from this past year. https://www.facebook.com/CarrExcavating/ Also from their latest photo it is looking like the entire eating area including the skillets are gone. This entire area has apparently been opened up down to the ground itself with much of the wooded area that offered a bit of seclusion to this eating area removed completely as well. A presumed new restaurant is apparently going up too. Some considered this area before to be a bit of a pinch point but another concern is now it also seems to hide the Flooded Mine area. How upset would you be if they actually removed this classic SDC dark ride as well? The guys over at MIG have a more detailed explanation to the above photo. http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/2018/01/city-changes-sdc_27.html
  8. So now that the off season is here, apparently everything including the two food stands and the large eating area between the ThuNderaTion entrance and Echo hollow is being leveled. This was kinda surprising as when they were actually open the last time I was up there one of the employees said that the pathways were originally gonna pass thru there but they decided to keep and re-purpose the building and thus placed the pathway behind it instead. But now apparently not. I am assuming maybe they found it was structurally unsound? August 2017 January 2018 Demo Original Post: https://www.facebook.com/CarrExcavating/posts/1579982795417462
  9. Yeah regarding the large clearing and knowing the history with installations between SDC and DW I'm sticking with my hunch that it's gonna be a new themed area with a large Mack coaster as it's centerpiece.
  10. I too was not so keen on the concept when it was revealed but I have since warmed up to it. However, while this was already mentioned by other folks on a couple other forums I do think they need to eliminate that section where the train comes to a full stop mid course if they are not gonna build a show segment around that launch. It seems that would really kill the pacing of the ride experience.
  11. And as far as I am concerned there is nothing wrong with that! Powder Keg is still an awesome coaster! Awesome shots! I almost went up there today. Now I regret not doing so. haha
  12. This was seen on Dollywood's Facebook Page regarding the snow.
  13. Check out this awesome promo video from Mack. Pay close attention as you can see the SDC Time Traveler car featured under construction.
  14. Seeing it in the physical and not as a CGI rendering I am much more optimistic on the theming and stylization of this ride. I just hope the rest of the station building is done on this level of detail. I am impressed nonetheless. Short reveal video from the TPR FB page:
  15. Thanks all! Yes Brad himself said there will be 3 trains on this coaster. In other news I just saw this on the MACK Rides FB Page. Looks like we got one of the Time Traveler cars in transit.
  16. Here are my photos from the ACE Coaster Christmas event at SDC yesterday. For SDC/Time Traveler it was a mini recap of the media announcement followed by another construction site tour. FULL ALBUM HERE:
  17. Went to the park over the weekend, without being redundant since everyone has pretty much covered the station area and entrance work, I went ahead and got more photos of the layout as seen from the Culinary School. You can see the overbanked turns, inversions, and the launches thru the trees.
  18. Nope, 2019 will be an off year. SDC hasn't had big attractions in back to back years in a long time, and there's no reason to expect it. They do have several intentional expansion points, including past Outlaw Run, past Powder Keg, and the employee lot next to Elephant March. There's no rush to expand, but they will use the land when they're ready. Probably more towards 2020. I have to say that employee parking lot would be a great plot of land for placing a good old traditional woodie such as a GCI to replace the former OzCat at CC or even a B&M Invert which could either be tied into Firemans Landing or a rethemed Grand Expo.
  19. Minor construction update on Time Traveler. Track work is pretty much complete save for the transfer track section. Been told testing will begin in November possibly in time for the Coaster Christmas event that will be held at the park. Interestingly enough the final inversion actually leans over a bit into the helix on ThuNderaTion. Maybe its an optical illusion but it seemed so to me. It also almost feels like you can reach out and touch the track from the queue, yes its that close.
  20. Anyone consider the possibility River Battle might be getting removed for a Mack coaster? Granted it might not be anything on the scale of Time Traveler but HFEC tends to purchase attractions in pairs from a manufacturer. When SDC gets something new Dollywood gets something similar down the line and vise versa.
