  1. Silver Dollar City's March 28th Delayed Opening now postponed till May. https://www.silverdollarcity.com/Coronavirus-Update
  2. The park continues to post up teaser clips of MRF running: Rivertown Smokehouse: The Boats:
  3. The park has begun testing Mystic River Falls. Teaser video on their Facebook Page:
  4. That Rocking Boat concept makes me wonder if and when they do take out Flooded Mine and/or American Plunge at SDC (in the next few years, as rumored) if that might be a replacement option they may go with.
  5. I will definitely be curious to see how it compares to Fury. (which I loved)
  6. I am liking this look much better. Yes this style is better fitting with the theme of the time period especially once it gets that weathered look in a few years. Some of the other stuff they have done in recent years has been okay but a tad bit too clean and modern for 1880's IMHO.
  7. And to recap on the SDC Mystic River Falls attraction, here is a recap with some construction site videos I shot earlier this year. Announcement Day Tour: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Late October Visit: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  8. As I stated before I get the feeling this was all a publicity stunt for "free advertising" or to get "hush money".
  9. LOL this will be an open and shut case. Just some fool wanting hush money and their 15 minutes of Fame.
  10. Yeah it will be great to see how all this will look when the ride opens next spring. Loving the landscaping work being done.
  11. Here is a progress update on Project 2020 AKA Mystic River Falls at SDC from my recent visit this week. Video: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Lake Silver has been drained for the winter season. The new Ribhouse is coming along nicely. Canal landscaping work continues. Note the addition of trees, shrubbery, and detailed rockwork. Work continues on the pumphouse/lift/drop area. The loading station under construction.
  12. No, Lightning Rod opened the following year. Define “opened” LMAO!
  13. This to me sounds like terrible news for the general consumer and for theme park enthusiasts. For selfish reasons I'd rather have Hershend buy all or part of Cedar Fair's assets.
  14. JUST ANNOUNCED: Vortex will be retired at the end of the season. Get your final rides now. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2019/september/kings-island-to-retire-vortex-after-33-seasons With this being said, whats the best time to go next month for minimal crowds? I am gonna plan a trip out there before the ride closes for good. I hate seeing another classic Arrow meet its demise.
  15. Interesting, sounds like they decided not to go with the Hypercoaster addition for the park, maybe this means it will be SDC to get one instead in the near future. I will be curious to see which theme they go with. Hopefully it winds up being a revival of the Flooded Mine of sorts since they removed theirs years ago. (unlike SDC)
  16. I thought I would mention that SDC's Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure Won at the Golden Ticket Awards for Best New Show. Its probably not going anywhere anytime soon if you missed it. Also on SDC's FB page:
  17. It looks like the person in question has unfortunately died. Sad news to hear considering the Schlitterbahn incident is still likely lingering in peoples minds as well. I did notice a few emergency vehicles coming from the vicinity of the water park as I was in the dry side of the park that evening. https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/teen-pulled-from-oceans-of-fun-wave-pool-last-weekend-taken-off-life-support
  18. ^Either way I think they could get away with a Hyper Terrain Coaster in a similar layout to . Wild Eagle's lift hill and Lightning Rod's launch hill are both placed on steep hillsides and I think this is how the park would approach this issue as a workaround as the ride wouldn't technically be 200 feet above the actual ground it was placed on. Its also how SDC's Wildfire feels more imposing and intimidating on that first drop as the coaster was literally placed on the top of a hillside, making the drop larger than its actual height. You can see for miles up there on top of its lift hill.
  19. I do think Hershend will eventually dip (see what I did there) into the hyper/giga coaster wars at their parks within the next 5 or 10 years, considering they are wanting to push the envelope and build hype by marketing their coasters as game changers along with being the tallest/steepest/fastest etc. They also see coasters like Intimidator and Fury 325 (just a few hours down the road from DW) being what they are and seeing how well they are loved by the general public and enthusiasts. Their high capacity is also fantastic. That plot of land next to the new area will be a perfect candidate. Hopefully its a B&M. (personal preference)
  20. Unpopular Opinion Time: I think Lightning Rod will soon wind up being what Buzzsaw Falls was for SDC. A problem prone coaster prototype that will get converted into something else in a few years. There has just been way too much downtime with this thing.
  21. Thinking about heading up there this weekend. With school starting back up for most places by then how do you guys think the crowds will be? I know when I went to Carowinds around this time last year the lines on most coasters were 10 mins or less on average.
  22. Lol the negative people are hilarious. Oh what I would give to have a coaster like this in my backyard. (within 3 hours driving) A similar example is currently happening with my home park (SDC obviously if you seen my username) with people complaining on their social media pages that the new river rapids ride is either unoriginal or too intense and scary or they are complaining about how the height requirement went from 36" to 40". *eyeroll*
  23. I really got to get out to this park. Looks awesome! Though its funny Cedar Fair didn't choose to usurp Fury with this.
