  1. Most of those expansions had a substantial part of the bill foot by "cheap" CNL. And glossing over the major expansion of the water park and Motocoaster cost a lot more than Blast Off and a few cheapie rides for Rowdy's Ridge. Even then Herschend with all of its own supposedly deep pockets saw a lot of coasters still running only one train. On another note, no Skywarp but there is a new ride coming. Talk is possibly a Star Flyer/Sky Screamer of some dimension. Newest rumors point away from a Skywarp and more towards a large swing ride like a Sky Screamer or similar. I think that makes more sense as the park has nothing truly similar to that. Lasso and a Sky Screamer aren't that similar of a rider experience, whereas a Skywarp and Super Loop are practically the exact same experience, just one has better capacity.
  2. I have to agree with this, I would take no new rides within 5 years over general improvements, staffing improvements and 2 train operations on coasters that need 2 trains and basic maintenance improvements and general park upkeep. I am not saying every coaster has to get 2 trains for next season and all of this has to happen overnight, its obviously going to take time to bring the park up to speed. The GP absolutely does notice the 1 train operations especially when they have been to other parks where the line actually moves for the major coasters. They also need to improve on crowded days where the park absolutely fails. DL's customers are mostly repeat customers who come from local areas to visit the park whether they buy a seasons pass or they make one visit per season and they need to do something to keep the locals coming back for more and that is not necessarily adding new rides. Do we really need to continue to beat this dead horse?
  3. Just curious, has anyone else who has visited the park this year noticed Vicki from Viper? She is probably one of the sweetest people you will meet, and she never fails to put a smile on everyone’s face while in line for Viper. I can’t be the only one who has noticed her as she is one of the only excellent and thoughtful ride ops in the park.
  4. I’m not sure if it was mentioned on this thread or not, but does anyone know what is wrong with Pirate? I was at the park today, and realized that it has been down every single day this year from what I have seen. I am wondering if age is becoming a major issue and that a replacement to a newer model may be necessary, as it doesn’t look like the Twister situation from last year with the overhaul, but instead looks like pure downtime with little to no repair work done to it. Anyone know what’s going on?
  5. Just wondering, I am going to the park late August. I plan to get FL+ one of the 2 days I am visiting for. How long will FL+ lines be on a Monday in late August? I think that is my best bet for short SV wait times. Also, should SV be running 3 trains by then?
  6. Even if there are no major attractions and unrealistic additions added to the park, or even no rides for years, I will be happy to just see basic improvements to get the park up to the standards it is supposed to be at. Painting Mind Eraser’s god awful looking track, and Viper’s station, getting 2 trains running on Viper and RoS, and just overall better maintenance would be perfect and I honestly would take this over a new ride even if it means no new additions for 5 years. Sure, new rides are what will attract GP to the park, but as it has been said before in this thread, even the GP notice the 1 train operations, and poor maintenance. My GP family from out of town was shocked by the one train ops when they came to visit the park. It doesn’t go unnoticed by them. It needs to be fixed.

If not, where is all the information you have coming from, such as Viper’s second train almost ready, and this new ride?
  8. Hello everyone! I am planning a visit to CP in late August and am planning to get FL+. Just curious...how long typically is the FL+ line for SV? I am hoping to get multiple rides on it. Thanks! Also, about border crossings, I live in the Buffalo Niagara area (about 5 minutes from Niagara Falls), so I live right on the border and cross it regularly. Typically, from my experiences, the Canadian officers seem nice and respectful, but don’t seem overly excited or amusing. The US officers in the other hand always seem extremely rude and strict. Never much of a hello or goodbye, typically I am asked in the rudest possible way, “Where do you live”, “Why do you leave” and “Did you buy anything”. To me, neither country has super nice and fun officers, but the Canadian ones are at least acting like they are talking to a human being, and the US ones just seem plain rude.
  9. I think Six Flags will try as hard as they can to get two trains running at least on ones that truly need it, such as Viper, Moto, and RoS. Back in the early 2000’s during the old Six Flags days at DL, two trains typically ran on the major coasters.
  10. Also, there is one worrying detail that dawned on me during my visit to the park yesterday. I am wondering if Viper’s second train is gone now. As we all know, for the past few years, Viper has been running one train with the two trains switching out each year, the orange train and the blue train. Last year, Viper tan the train with the orange stripe. This year, Viper is running that same orange stripe train again. Since they didn’t switch out to the blue stripe train this year, it is making me wonder if now the blue train has been stripped for parts to keep the orange train running, and that Viper only has one functioning train now.
  11. Lagoon does not offer free water either, at least at any of the locations I have been. They charge a quarter, which really isn't a big deal other than I need to carry around change. They fill up refillable season bottles with water for free though, rather than the usual $1 refill. Luckily charging for water seems to be pretty rare, and the vast majority of parks everywhere give it out for free, but a few select places are weird. I was at the park today, and refilled my cup with water 5 times, and wasn’t charged any of the 5 times I filled it.
  12. Just got back from a day at the park. I can confirm ToS was back open, as well as Grizzly Run. Close Friday were Pirate (no surprise there) and Silver Bullet. It seems like Silver Bullet has been having on and off problems for the past few years now. It seems like it might be time to upgrade to a newer, more reliable model.
  13. They do, as does basically every other park in America. Some food stand workers at DL are jerks and will charge you for water. Most don’t charge you though. I remember the time one of them charged me for water and when I asked about why, they gave me attitude about it, some people are just jerks I guess. As for the rest of the park, the big issues are definitely the amount of broken rides, and one train operations. They need a big draw to get people in, so that the rest of the park can see a ripple effect with big improvements to day-to-day operations.
  14. Like I said on the last page, RoS is closed because the lift failed on Monday, causing a train to get stuck at the top of the lift hill. They are simply fixing the lift motor because it broke a few days ago. Here is the picture somebody posted while at the park Monday afternoon. RoS simply had a lift malfunction. No new 2019 planning or second trains.
  15. UPDATE: figured out why RoS was closed, it was stuck at the very top of the lift hill. Found a video of it on the Snapchat map at the park. This seems to be becoming more of an issue. Last year, I saw RoS stuck on the lift multiple times. Makes me wonder if something in the computer is seriously wrong. Here is a picture I got of the video: RoS full of riders, stuck at the top.
  16. Does anyone know what the heck is up with RoS lately?? It seems like for the past month now, that whole area is closed more than it is open. This is starting to worry me on if this will be an all-season issue. Based on the permanently printed sign and all the metal barriers, it appears RoS will be down for a very long time.
  17. They have 3 trains for Tantrum, but they only run 2 trains at a time for unknown reasons.
  18. It honestly shouldn’t be too bad, even on holiday weekends, the park’s attendance numbers are pretty normal. Just remember that even if I line for a coaster looks like only a 30 minute wait, you will be waiting MUCH longer due to the fact that they run one train on every coaster other than Tantrum.
  19. Yes, I made the mistake of visiting the park on Post Malone day (yikes!!) and during my 5 hours at the park, I only made it onto 3 rides: Tantrum (1 hour wait), Boomerang (1.5 hour wait) and Silver Bullet (30 minute wait). Food lines were horrendous, RoS and Viper were multiple-hour long waits all day. Most of these insane waits were due to one train ops. This park does fine on low attendance days but SUFFERS on the busy days.
  20. Or Sleighride... Sleighride’s removal wouldn’t surprise me honestly. That thing looks worse that ever, it is rusting, paint is fading off, many decorative elements on the front facade are now gone, and I was informed that most of the lights randomly stopped working this year. It is old, and terrible shape. It’s removal actually seems like a good possibility.
  21. Seems redundant, but remember, the only Skywarp right now is it SF Discovery Kingdom. That park also has a Super Loop as well. Therefore, it is very possible to see this addition, based on that another SF park has both a Super Loop and Skywarp.
  22. Just curious, I haven’t been able to be online lately, so I haven’t checked this thread for a little while...is there any update on 3 train ops for Steel Vengeance or still just 2 running at a time?
  23. Is the reason for purchasing it known, or did the park just buy it “in case” they needed it for something?
  24. those buses have to be long gone or just beyond repair unfortunately, but i agree would be nice to see come back. I'm pretty sure some of the busses hang out in the area behind Viper with that random tram. Does anyone know what that tram was ever used for?
  25. Honestly, although SF screwed DL over when they left, they have changed for the better now, and certainly will bring a lot of much needed improvements to the park. Also, if you think about it, if SF never came to DL in the late 1990s, we wouldn’t have RoS, or most likely any hyper coaster!
