I heard Predator had a major retracting this year, which is why it was closed for the first few weeks of the season. I should try it again this year. I have heard a few better things about it this year compared to past years. -

There actually has been one coaster that I have experienced that was “too rough” to ride it again. The Predator at Darien Lake has been absolutely awful for these past few years now. I ride it last year in the back seat (I still don’t know why I made that mistake) and I got off feeling like a rib popped out. I go to the park quite a few times each year, including this year, and I still haven’t been on it since that terrible ride last May. Rides that are so rough to the point where they are “in-rideable” do exist, but aren’t actually very common. Out of all the coasters I have been on, Predator is the only coaster I have deemed as “in-rideable”. -
My guess for ToS being closed is the rain. They don’t run it at all in rain anymore. I believe it has something to do with the new train because this policy started when the new train was purchased. I feel like the Haymaker is doing well, and it's a classic, it just needs TLC. A new gen. Enterprise or a Zamperla Endeavor would be a cool replacement for Silver Bullet, I wouldn't complain. I feel like there's enough area behind the black gates next to Ride Of Steel for a DC Comics area, which would be cool if they did that in the near future. Rides like a Tourbillon, Tilt a Whirl, and a Giant Discovery would be awesome there, even a Free Fly. Another ride that needs work/replacement would be Sleighride. I don’t know if anyone else has seen it this year, but it truly looks TERRIBLE. The roof is gone, all the decorations on the top of the ride (viewed from outside) is gone, rust is showing all over the place, and I was informed that most of the lights on it don’t work all of a sudden. It is a classic, but it is really showing its age and probably needs to be replaced all together by a newer model.

Honestly, for me, Wonderland is definitely worth visiting, even without any passes for Cedar Fair parks. I live up near the falls, so it can take up to an hour to make it to Darien, and CW is just under 2 hours. The time difference is minimal compared to the difference in the quality of the product you are getting. I take a yearly trip up to Wonderland, and since I have gotten so used to DL’s crappy park operations, Wonderlands operations seem amazing to me. Consistently seeing two or three trains running, no constant breakdowns, good upkeep of the property (rides and buildings), and and overall more modern feel are all things you cannot get at Darien anymore. Also, the biggest piece of why CW is worth the extra drive is the amazing collection of rides, mainly flat rides, but the coaster collection isn’t horrible, seriously, it can’t get worse than Darien, so anything seems nice to me. But the flat Ride collection there is so unique and extensive, and it is another experience not possible at Darien Lake. Overall, even though CW is much further that DL is, I think saying WNYers don’t commonly visit the park is totally false, as many will pay visits commonly as they want to experience REAL operations from a theme park that isn’t full of cheap owners like Darien’s situation. Darien Lake is great and all, but sometimes we need a break from the “why not take a visit” park, and experience a true theme park.

You may also want to add Pirate and Corn Popper to the list of troublesome DL flats. Corn Popper sees a decent amount of downtime with the pneumatics each year, and Pirate has been down all year so far for unknown reasons. I think the issue with the flat Ride selection at DL is the fact that every flat Ride here is old and inconsistent. At this point, it would definitely be cheaper in the long run to just replace them, but nobody has wanted to fork up the cash to do so.

I feel your pain, someone did that to me last year, but at least it was the $1.25 refill cup I got for free anyways, but it was still annoying having to buy one when I shouldn't have needed to. People are really something sometimes. Also, I visited the park tonight, only one difference in the park caught my eye...RoS HAS A TEST SEAT AGAIN! I rode it 3 times today and didn't see any "walks of shame". Made the line move noticeably faster given that the ride ops only had to check the restraints once, instead of needing to re-tighten them a million times! On another note, Pirate was still closed. It hasn't been open once this year, it appears to be the Twister of 2018, now that Twister is back open. Oh well, I never ride it anyways.

In all honesty, although a new ride would be awesome, aren’t there bigger issues that need to be taken care of? I wouldn’t mind putting off a new ride for even 5 years if it meant that we can see two trains running on all coasters, and new paint on the falling apart buildings and awful looking coasters (RoS and ME).

Exactly! The one train ops are absolutely unacceptable for a park of DL’s size. For example, when I visited the park on Saturday, I arrived early, so crowds would be minimal. It was great, short waits for everything! Once it hit around 4 PM, the park gained some crowds, but nothing much, still appeared pretty light. I brought family that lives out of town. They didn’t realize DL only runs one train all the time. They figured earlier when it was empty, they would only run one, so they didn’t think much of it. When the crowds came, it was a total change of attitude for them. They were shocked that there weren’t second trains to be put on when crowds began to build. Even a three ride wait for Viper took forever in their eyes, because they are so used to multiple trains running on coasters. They said that they wouldn’t mind never returning because of the crappy, cheap operations of DL’s rides.

Just wondering if somebody has the answer to this: why are Iron Dragon and Gatekeeper ALWAYS listed as closed on queue-times.com? Are they actually closed all the time or is it a problem with the website? -

Hi everyone! I am planning a trip to CP at the end of summer. I have been looking into FL+. Is it worth it? Also, is it cheaper to buy FL+ at the park or on their website?
