Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Has anyone been to the park on Mondays recently? I’m going to CP for the first time in a few years next Sunday and Monday, and already have FL+ purchased for Sunday. Is it bad enough there on a Monday in late August for FL+ to be needed? I’m still on the fence of making that purchase. -

The craziest thing is the fact that Maverick’s line is longer than SteVen’s line today. Maverick has gotten a lot of love this year! UPDATE: TTD is down now. -

Is it raining at CP right now? I’ve never seen this short of a wait for SV. I would think weather would be the reason, but TTD is open and we all know that thing wouldn’t be open in rain. What is going on? Only 30 minutes for SV! -

Attendance problems certainly aren’t showing right now at CP! I just found a very rare sight these days: -
Changing the name of SRoS at SFNE was a planned temporary name change as the story goes, Superman and Bizarro were dueling it out there as well as SFGadv where Medusa was themed as Bizarro; and signage in both parks referenced a storyline and both rides were mentioned. When SFNE changed theirs back to Superman, it was no longer 'Ride of Steel', but simply 'The Ride'. The floorless B&M at SFGadv remains 'Bizarro'. Good idea or not, I can see a case for a re-theming of some sort to freshen up the ride and give it the attention it has been waiting for. Maybe 'Superman The Escape', or something to that effect would work too. Simply put, I seriously doubt SF will pass on an opportunity to give new life and attention to one of the park's signature coasters. Honestly, I am just hoping for it to be repainted to its original red and blue (instead of light blue and pink ), see Superman branding return to RoS, and see TWO TRAINS running (crazy idea right )

Calling it Superman is better than what I heard a Canadian call it last year, Man of Steel. Hearing “Superman” doesn’t bother me at all, but when I hear someone call it “Man of Steel”, that’s where I get annoyed. Speaking of GP, I heard one person claim RoS used to run with 4 trains. That was my nice laugh for the day.

How does the place tend to be on Sundays? I figure most people would be leaving Sunday after a Friday-Saturday sort of trip (which is what I made the mistake of doing last time). -

I’m just hoping it won’t be that crowded the last Sunday and Monday of August. It will be my first time going to CP since 2014. -
I honestly don’t think it would be a good idea. First, look at Superman st SFNE. It was re-themed to Bizarro and only a few years later, it went back to Superman. Second and most important: almost everybody at DL still calls RoS Superman. It has been known as Superman to people for almost 20 years now. People will probably still call it Superman if it gets the Bizarro treatment, just like how it was still known as Superman after being renamed to Ride of Steel.

We saw someone get kicked off a Steel Vengeance train with restraints already locked because he had a phone in his pocket. This happened right behind us, ride op was about to lower his restraint, saw phone, made him get out of the train. When our train came back, he was still sitting behind the exit gates, so we're not sure if he was waiting for someone else or they were going to let him back on at some point. Also saw multiple people with phones in the queue one evening, even using them where ride ops could certainly see them. On this same trip we also saw them a Maverick train backed off the lift hill, a ride op walked over to the train and then took a phone from someone in the very first row. Also had a ride op for one of the woodies on the trip yell at kids (teenagers) for touching the railings while the train was ascending the lift hill. I did laugh at one of them yelling out, "The government is watching us!" ..Al Just curious, does Ohio have stricter laws about roller coasters or something? I understand safety is a huge concern and honestly support CP’s method of stopping a lift over a phone or camera, but I have never seen any other park actually stop a lift over it. Most just seem to let the ride run it’s cycle and just say “oh well”. At my home park, Darien Lake, a ride op on Ride of Steel caught someone with a phone out once the train left the station, and simply said “We aren’t responsible for it if it breaks!”, and let the train go up. -

Has anyone else had experiences with the new “moveable lockers” system? I was lookin into it for my CP trip at the end of August. But based on that it doesn’t work right, I am thinking about steering clear of it. I’m having some wishful thinking hoping maybe this was an isolated event and it typically works, so I am curious if others’ experiences with this system. -

My home park, Darien Lake only runs one train on everything including Ride of Steel, and yet they can still keep the line moving decently well with people putting their stuff on the other side of the station. If Darien keeps it moving with one train, CP’s better ride ops and two to three train ops can get it done with bins just fine, and it will boost guest satisfaction. -

Rougarou riders need a place to put their flip flops, but there, the policy is “shoes only”. -

. Is it a perfect solution? No, because as others have said, they can still be taken out, but it would make everyone happy. And there really is no perfect solution, so might as well come as close as possible to one. Actually there is one solution that is closer to perfect...BINS! You know, those things that worked just fine for loose articles for years and years now. I think anybody would take the bins over ever-so-slightly longer dispatches. Also, that slightly longer wait wouldn’t feel as bad because you would have your phone for entertainment. This would be the way to keep guests happy, the old-fashioned bin technique! -

Seeing the changes SF is already making to the park tells me that they might get the flagship “Six Flags” naming next year. They are changing prices, bringing in Fright Fest, and now Batman is back in the park. This could be leading towards a solid future for DL. As for Rolling Thunder being stuck at the top. Maintenance does that to work on the bottom of the ride. They can keep it in place like that so that the train isn’t in the way when they need to fix the bottom. Most likely it was done on purpose. Are most Super Loops unreliable? Because ours seems to be down way too much for a fairly new ride. It was also down all day when I was there about a week ago.

Good news! Millie is back open again, and once again pulling quite the line. That thing never seems to hit 1 hour anymore! -

Although it isn’t the greatest choice, it is cheap, and I honestly think they need ANYTHING to stay alive right now. I currently work at FI and this year is the worst season attendance-wise for them in a long time. Every time I am there, the place is totally dead. Most Ride-ops are just sitting at their rides waiting for a single person to even get on. Lines are 100% non-existent. Even Silver Cimet is a 1-Ride-wait for the front or back seat (it is a back-seat coaster in my opinion). I think the higher prices and parking charges are deterring people away from the park.
