  1. I believe you spoke with Joni (sounds like Johnny) Byrnes.
  2. I will be there for the first half of the campout if not more.(We open the Batman Show on Saturday.) I expect to see ALL of you at one of the Batman Shows after you get your coaster fix!
  3. LOVE the Update! Video Updates are just so refreshing sometimes. I would like to make a clarification on Robb's behalf. The signs that were described as "Kids Attractions" are actually the "Family Friendly Attraction" signs. The denote an attraction which the a family can experience all together.
  4. The next time you all come by Magic Mountain, you will be pleasantly surprised when you see Valencia Falls.
  5. Pyrotechnic effects are not the same as fire/flame effects. X2 is testing flame effects.
  6. Okay, so I'll start by off by saying that I am probably taking this personally, considering I am one of the Stage Managers of the Batman Begins Stunt Show. Me speaking as an employee: SO... Before calling this "Lame", why don't you take a minute and think about why we are not updating the show this year: The show always opens as close to Memorial Day weekend as possible. The first year of Batman Begins, the show opened on June 24th. That was about a month of the show that was lost because they held the opening day until after the movie premier. So, the show only ran for 4.25 months. Me speaking as a TPR member: Dark Knight the movie opens July 18th. So IF the new show was to be Dark Knight, (which nothing has been announced as to what the new show will be), it would only run for 3.5 months. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA, THEY SHOULD HAVE A SHORTER SHOW RUN! And it costs a TON of money to install a new set. The last Batman show played for 9 years, and the one before that was 12 years. They are crazy enough for using this show for only 4 years. I think you can wait another year. Enjoy the new movie, and then next season you can see the show.
  7. I am still working on the dates of items, we have the information, it is now just a matter of finishing the work. Some of the maps have "circa 19__" underneath them, we will be changing them to read "Map above: circa 19__". The one other item that still needs its description is the model of the boardwalk area that would have been overlayed on top of Mystic Lake, before Hurricane Harbor was decided upon. Again the dates are in the work.
  8. Best To Worst IMHO: Wednesday Thursday Tuesday Monday Friday Sunday Saturday
  9. Although I have no pictures, Scream did celebrate it's 5th birthday this last Saturday. There were balloons on the lift, there were decorations in the station and the Ride Ops were wearing party hats. They made a valiant effort to have 3 trains going for it's birthday, but they had some set backs, and opened a bit late. Maybe Mike has a few pictures he can share?
  10. Getting back on topic eh? Well... SCREAM'S BIRTHDAY IS TODAY! 4 YEARS OLD. I was talking to a few ride ops on Scream yesterday and they said they might put balloons on the lift, or at least celebrate in some way. If you have a chance, come by and give some love to Scream!
  11. Please post the employee picture! I you got the name tag in there too, it will be even better. Can't wait to see the PTR!
  12. For those of you who don't know, I am a Stage Manager for the Batman Begins Stunt Show at SFMM. At the top of the audience grandstand is a booth where I sit and "call the show", meaning giving directions to stage techs and make sure everything is safe. WELL, I am remodeling the inside of the booth, and have a whole bunch of Batman Begins related artwork. I want to give an opportunity to TPR members to have something up on a wall at the park, so here is what to do: (See photo below) We want one funny picture up on the wall, so take a picture of a real Batman and photoshop him into a funny or out of the norm place such as in a mall. It can't be dirty or rude because this is in a work environment. Post your photo in this forum. 5xi7 inches or 7xi5 inches is preferred with a resolution of at least 300 hp/i. Have fun, and THANKS! William
  13. Was the SFMM spokesperson ever quoted saying anything about tunnels for X2?
  14. What was the name of the fun house: Magic Pagoda. Part of the maze which used mirrors are still intact and are used for the Fright Fest Maze "Willoughby's Mansion". What is the difference in elevation between the entrance of the Sky Tower and Scream: From the observation deck of the Sky Tower to the parking lot is a 500 feet elevation change.
  15. You better believe it! Having a name and location to go back to helps us correct the situation.
  16. ^Go ride Daffy's Tour Bus. Don't worry, be happy.
  17. Well everyone, here we go again. It is time for yet another Six Flags Magic Mountain update. You'd think by now we would have run out of things to report, yet here we are with more things to report. Robb and I met up to discuss the possibility of having a scavenger hunt for TPR on the X2 reopening day. We definitely want to plan something, so we will work out details and let you know in the near future. We walked around the park and met up with Joey, went on a few rides and enjoyed a nice Saturday evening at the park. Enjoy! (The photos are arranged by location, not by time of day.) As Robb drove in, he saw an incredible sight: Superman, Goliath, Scream, Colossus trains/cars all going at the same time. It is not necessarily special, but a nice first impression when pulling up to the park. Unlike KBF! The parking lot was not in overflow, but C Lot was almost full. The first thing you notice when entering a new area of the park is where all of the employees are. Seriously, they are very noticeable now, and you can see guests confidently approaching employees to ask for assistance. No employees here! Even Corbin Bleu from the Disney channel is trying to get in on some bright shirt action. In this picture is a new-shirt employee, and an old-shirt employee. Can you see where the old shirt employee is? 3-Point Basketball continues to bring in guests all day long. They recently added sports themed music on the court which not only livens up the area, but it really brings in the guests. The Jet Stream area is slowing seeing improvement as promised. This tree is just one of many that have been planted over the past week. Landscaping popping up everywhere. Queue building has received paint. We also noticed how clean looking the Jet Stream water looked. Honestly, it looked clean enough to swim in! This cell phone charing station can be found in one of the stores by Psyclone 500. After 15 minutes your cell phone is fully charged. There is one by the Colossus County Fair Arcade, and one more at the front of the park. The machines are free, although some still have directions on them saying that it cost $2. (There is nowhere on the machine to put money in.) I highly approve of these machines! Cyclone Bay will be keeping its name. Enough said. Corey and the other Electricians have been doing a great job bringing light back to the park. The Gotham City Backlot arch and other statues are brightly lit up, and Viper's entrance glow in captivating. The next project is the X2 lift. New patio sets have replaced the old tables and chairs at Cyber Cafe. AND LOOK...THEMING! Okay, so they are just wall decorations, but when was the last time you saw wall decorations here? I consider this theming! And the fresh mini doughnut maker! This is one of the coolest things about Cyber Cafe. But you need to make sure that you eat them warm. It will defeat the whole purpose if you eat them cold! Even the trash cans are nice and spiffy. The outer patio is nice and colorful as well, and the fountain adds for a great atmosphere out back. There are reminders now at all of the Merchandise locations for season passholders. Discounts! (and a "pass" is not a body part.) Johnny Rockett's Fries and Shakes is now open at the restaurant formerly known as Justice League Feast, formerly known as Chicken Plantation. Every new location that opens comes equipped with anti-infinatethrill features, such as this wonderful door! The menu. Notice chicken strips are are also served. Robb says: "Haha fries, I am going to turn you into poo...but you need more salt." I hadn't been on Tweety's Escape since my summer camp days, and although I could still stand in the cages, it was not too comfortable. Joey getting caged up. And Robb gracefully folded his body into the cage. We'll be honest, showing the good and bad. We had to go looking for it, but we did find a large amount of trash in the Riddler's queue. I learned something valuable today: When I do my park walks to meet guests and pick up trash on the midways, it is important to also go into the queue lines, because there is still alot of trash there as well. This looks like Magic Mountain cira 2003, not the Magic Mountain of 2008. And we end today with Mike. The Scream crew was doing a great job with their dispatch times. They were sending one train before the second train even got to the ending block break. Thanks to Robb for photos! If you haven't been to the park in a while, it is officially time to get your butt back here to see the new SFMM!
  18. This story was the highlight of my day. Wow...just wow...
  19. Joey, Robb and I did a park walk on Saturday evening. Expect an update/PTR up by tomorrow afternoon. With the exception trash in a few areas it was a great evening at the park.
  20. I enjoy doing point based scavenger hunts over the amazing race style scavenger hunts. I find that sometimes teams just follow each other around. We have had some pretty awesome scavenger hunts at the park at it would be great to do the same with TPR.
  21. Enlighten us and we'll see! --Robb (I hate reposting double quotes, but it was so many pages ago...) MouseAdventure is a scavenger hunt style event that takes place during park operational hours at the DLR. Teams of 2 to 4 people are given quests and challenges which they must complete to receive points. Whichever team has the most points wins. We have done several employee events like this at SFMM over the past year. (Magic Mountain Scav-a-ganza was the event name.) I have always wanted to do an event like this for guests, but we have never found the right group of people to market this toward. We seriously have 2 Scav-a-ganze events ready to go. Keeping in mind that this is more about the park, park knowledge, park history, company history, park layout, park minutia, and frankly focuses on things in the park you may have never noticed. One example of a challenge we had was using the Superman court yard. There are 10 light pillars surrounding the large "S" on the ground. We had teams start on the point of the "S", and we gave them a compass coordinate. They turned their compass which led them to one of the light pillars, where they found a letter they needed to write down, as well as a new coordinate. They repeated this for all ten lights, and then decyphered a final code word to receive points. If you participated in an event like this, you would never see the park in the same light again. When ever I am up at Superman, all I ever see is invisible lines connecting those 10 light pillars. This event can be done when the park is open, or closed. What do you think?
  22. During Viper's downtime, the track was repainted and all of the cars were refurbished.
