  1. I agree. It is a very fair and true representation of what the park has become. Photo Trip around the Park: Small observations Lets start w/placekeeping You can always count on all the midway games open. Hey, why don't you train some of these games people on some of the flat rides. Nah, that would never work. Topiaries? It's a small world is 80 miles away. ...because nobody wants playpass anymore? If you are going to have paint ball in the park, you better make sure that they stay at the kiosk. A short section of closed attractions...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY....ON A SATURDAY!!!" "Wait why are there two paths?" "Like, is it like that spinny ride, where you like, go on both sides of the track?" Backing up the National Guard are these well qualified security personel. The National Guard has now replaced the Santa Clarity police as the new securityafter seeing Photo TRs on a popular website named Theme Park Review. "I'm Batman!" ... yeah, and I'm the Penguine. Just in case you didn't see the any of the other signs advertising. "Crash the Backlot" in Golden Bear Plaza Fri, Sat, and Sun. I mean, its one thing to take away all the other forms of transportation in the park, ( the metro, orient express), but its another thing to obstruct the only way of getting around. ... "For your saftey, if you are going to run, be sure to watch where you are going. You might go head first into one of our very strategically placed signs, right in the middle of the walkways to obsruct your traveling trough our park. ...it is an interesting way of trying to get people not to run... ...they are all over the midway... Speaking of signs... After being repainted 6 months ago, the upper facade of Wascal's finally gets its name back. It's worth mentioning that signs with sponsor names have infiltrated every nook and cranny of the park. Picture taken at 1:00pm on Saturday. A high traffic ODV cart closed? Makes sense.
  2. In response to the indoor mazes, we have 4. Brutal Planet, Jokster's Hideout, Carange E. Hall, and Willoughby's Mansion. Brutal Planet is the largest maze, built in the Games Warhouse found in Gotham City Backlot is the largest square-foot maze. You are transported to another planet, and find yourself walking down a street town, going into different buildings along the street, finding Brutal scenes. I too am personally disappointed w/ this maze. I dont like the idea of being a continuous walk through. (You snake in and out of the rooms with the rest of the guests. There is very little time to reset for the scarers in the maze because of the continous flow of people. So some people get scared by everyone, and some people just see them resetting. Wait time usually 30 minutes to an hour. I'll finish describing the other mazes soon, but for now, off to the park. (Yes, colossus will start running backwards only on fright fest days.) (How do I insert a picutre w/ commentary and then continue to write in the body of the post?)
  3. As reported here is Aragog: Taken on 9-1-06
  4. You'll really enjoy yourself. But you wont enjoy the walk up Samurai Summit each night. You have an awesome Stage Manager. Good Luck! Keep us updated.
  5. Aragog - the spider is now up on colosus, and will put pictures up very soon.
  6. Update: 9-1-06 Fright Fest too, was also hit with the "budget cuts" epidemic this year, and as a result, we will have one less F.F. attraction this year. Log Jammer turned "Blood Falls" will not take place. Patrons last year will remember taht Log Jammer operated during the day, then closed for about 2 hours, while foggers were turned on, and the actors got into place. Instead Log Jammer will remain a normal ride during the Fright Fest hours. It was asked in a different thread if Heckles and Twitch would be once again returning this year. The answer is sadly: no. www.madclowns.com/ Official website They were "already booked at a different venue". (Mostly likely better paying venue as well.) Guests will remember this pair as the top scarers in Gotham City Backlot during the later hours. The backlot won't be the same, however the four times I took time to watch them, it seemed that they spent a greater amount of time socializing with the Santa Clarity Sherrifs than with guests. The Supervisors in charge of Willoughby's Mansion, are currently trying to reverse the direction of the maze once again, back to the original design. The entrance being at Ninja's exit ramp and the end being at the door to the left of the vending machines under the old restaurant. The purpose of the potential change is to freshen up the maze for the guests who come to the park each year. The big problem preventing this change from occuring is trying to coordinate the Ninja exit ramp to accomidate both escaping passangers as well as visitors to the mansion at the same time. The Supervisors in charge of Carnage E. Hall, in Magic Moments Theater, are trying to find a way to entertain guests as soon as they walk into the theater. The majority of the wait time is spent standing in switch backs created by the metal seats in the theater. The most simple solution was to add a large movie screen inside the theater, and have black & white horror films playing for the people in line. A new Monster Alley will be constructed between Baja Ridge and Rapids Camp Crossing, at the paddock under the Revolution track. It is an ideal location for the low-hanging fog and the dim lighting. The only set back is that if people want to get from Viper to Tatsu without wanting to go into the Alley, they will have to go the other way. I know it is not unbearable to go through these areas, but not everybody feels comfortable experiencing them. The other two Alleys: Gotham City Backlot and by the Season Pass Processing Center, were positioned where people could easily avoid it, the new one not so much. That is all for now, pictures will soon follow.
  7. Fright fest is soon aproaching, and I felt it appropriate to start a thread. At theming starts to appear around the park, and as a new fog rolls in, I'll be there to cover it. Feel free to discuss anything SFMM Fright Fest related here, and be sure to check back once or twice a week for pictures.
  8. Considering that Golden Bear Sound Booth is outdoors, and in High Sierra Territory, you are very mistaken. If you meant Magic Moment's sound booth, you are also mistaken. There are two landings in that theater, and the booth as i recall is all the way in the back few rows in the center of the theater. (No heckles and twitch will not be returning.) I overheard one of my supervisors talking to the Animal Farm supervisor in my office the other day, something about cockroaches. So the story is semi-consistant. The Full-Time Supervisors usually have a "State of the Park" meeting at the end of the calendar year, but another meeting was also called for this past Wednesday. Not from a full-timer, but i too caught wind of the fact that "big things will be happening in about two-weeks, and an announcement will be made. Take it for what you like.
  9. So the Chinese Acrobats have let SFMM and are off to...Texas, not SF related. Now in it's place is "Kidz Bop". SFMM is the last stop for the Kidz Bop tour. And frankly, they end on a rather sour note...literaly. Same decorations as always, but better execution. Very cool looking display, but night does it justice. Very cool lighting! The Colosus spider will be spinning its web soon, so be sure to watch for the Fright Fest 2006 thread for theming, and mazes pictures soon. They have a grave digger passing out flyers, promoting fright fest 2006. This Hearst can be found at the front of the park by Valencia Falls. Hearst in need of some TLC. PIMP MY HEARST...hey, you never know! In other news, the park is doing a great job giving park guest an early taste of Fright Fest. before the show, the kids go around and ask the audience which songs they want to hear, even as far as "having them vote". They do the same songs each time. Complete w/ merchandise Hello to this Bye to this
  10. I am not sure where the people were seen in the Flashback queue, but be aware that we are starting themeing in the park for fright fest, and Jokster's Hideout is right there. We are refurbishing many of our mazes now.
  11. For some reason I can't remember why Mark Shapiro thinks Magic Mountain isn't a family park. Can someone remind me?
  12. The "asian" characters Jahan speaks of in the night parade are the performers from the Chinese Acrobats of Hebei show in the Magic Moments theater. Jahan's report and pics of the parade couldn't have been more timely, because August 14th will be the last day of the Night parade and fireworks, the opening celebration from 9:30 am to 10:00, the two celebrations at Valencia falls, at 10:30, and 11:00, and the 2:30 celebration in Gotham City Backlot/High Sierra Territory. Apparently company wide, there were even more cuts, and all over the country the characters will all be 10-7. Once a week Bugs Bunny and 7 other characters will be seen in the park for 4 hours...and that's all.
  13. ^When did you see the show, any pics?
  14. Both employees pictured were internationals. Regardless, they should be standing at all times like everyone else. However, if left alone, the internationals will do whatever they want.
  15. Considering we don't have fastpasses at SFMM, I'm guessing you won't be fine. It' is a crap shoot. Anticipate packed-ness, and if it isn't just be pleasantly supprised.
  16. If SFMM did close, would they be stupid enough to mention it before the end of this season, or would they wait til after it is finished. If it is announced, do you think people will flock to valencia to get in their last few rides on their favorite coasters, or will they stay far away.
  17. ^ And would you believe that was with my smallest camera setting.
  18. I visited SFMM on the 21st, and had a great time. ~6:30 Batman Begins Stunt Show ~Tatsu - 1 ~Sky Tower - 1 ~Deja Vu - 1 (1st time on) AMAZING, (except for the first drop, which makes my stomach drop) ~Psyclone - 1 (Much better after the refurb, but why did I do it again Photos of this and that. Enjoy! Poster advertising the Chinese Acrobats at the Magic Moments Theater. Hope you enjoyed! This is the new meet and greet lighting truss, by the exit of Jet Stream. After each show, Batman drives the tumbler from the set, to this meet and greet area for pictures. In other news: SFMM is taking the personal approach with trash. Curtain Call: Batman Curtain Call: Rachel Dawes Curtain Call: Bruce Wayne (Tilt head) Tumbler backed up into building, and pyro finale. Another covict fall. (He almost hit feel in the Superman track.) Tumber plus a perfect timing picture of a bullet hit. It's a bird...It's a pl///...It's just the tumber. It was blury, so i added a fitler. Batman picking up a thug. *A new stunt this season* Batman repeals from behind house, before deceding down and picking up one of the thugs. Dr. Crane, Carmine Falcone, and Evil Teady Bears. Bruce sets Ducard's "monistary" ablaze Chinese Poles Ninja: Mid-Decent Ninja rappeling from above the house. It looks staged, but the action was really right in front of me. Ducard tell the kid to hold his cane, then a pyro hit goes off, and the kid is distracted and drops the cane. It is the loudest pyro hit in the show, the entire audience screams, and the s Audience member picked as our new leader: Ras-al-goul Ducard
  19. The new Chinese Acrobats of Hebai show, was supposed to open at the Magic Moments Theater at Six Flags Magic Mountain on Saturday, June 10th. However, it opened three days early on Wednesday the 7th. There are two shows in one. Every other day, the same performers most in their late-teens, perform one of two shows, slightly differing in music, lighting, stunts, and props. Shows occur daily, three or four shows each day. It is a great 30 minute show, and great way to beat the heat, in a wonderful air-conditioned theater. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!
  20. There is a new meet and greet photo op. after each show at SFMM. Batman takes the Tumbler (the batmobile) to outside the Jetstream exit, and poses with guests outside the car. No you cant go inside his car, only Batman can. They also have someone from merch. taking your picture as well for purchase. Here are some pics.
  21. Flashpasses are $25 on weekends and holidays. The VIP passes for $89.99 are the better value.
