  1. A few special event in Golden Bear Theater/Magic Moments Theater like choir and dance events. All the Fright Fest stuff is gone with the exception of a few stray lights. The Magic Illusions of Ray Peirce will be going back in at Magic Moments Theater in early December. That's about it.
  2. Definatly Carnage E. Hall at SFMM. They added a few really cool things to spruce it up. They put a video screen up inside the theater to keep you entertained while you wait. It goes between black and white movies, as well as the news story saying the theater was for sale, the news story for the old Camp Ohmygosh, and the news story for Brutal Planet. The elevator is 10x more intense than last year. When it starts crashing strobe lights go off, and after it crashes they added a new music which is actually quite funny. It's a must see.
  3. Why do you feel that the mazes were understaffed?
  4. Tell us about the mazes.
  5. last year they went into double overflow! Where the tatsu pieces were laid out on feedmill road. I think the first two weeks on friday or sunday should be decent. However, Halloweeen day is always the least crowded.
  6. Hey guys, don't forget about the SFMM 2006 F.F. thread! www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28585&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60
  7. Great link! Thanks.
  8. ^ X opened in 2001, the same year as Deja Vu, and is therefore 5 years old.
  9. The scare zone in rapids camp crossing will have approx. 10 ghouls. Slight change, it won't be under revolution's track. They cant get enough power out there, so all of Rapid's Camp will be a scare area. Nothing has gone up inside the park that is "fair game" for pictures, and I won't be at the park again until at least the 21st. However, if anyone is going this weekend, and has any theming pics, please feel free to share!
  10. Maze Updates: Brutal Planet has begun it's build inside the game Warhouse. The build is going smoothly. Carnage E. Hall has begun it's build inside the Magic Moments Theater. The build is going smoothly. However, the build of this maze can only go so far with in the next two weeks, because there are concerts being held inside Magic Moments for the next two weekends. Luckily the stage is quite large. The maze is going to be half built, and they will put down a black curtain covering any signs of Fright Fest for the build. It will make the stage seem smaller, but who cares? Deadman's bog won't start it's build for about another two weeks or so.
  11. Time Saving Tips for you non-passholders: If you don't visit the park often, then you have a choice to make. You need to decide what is most important to you. Is it the rides, shows, or mazes? For most people it may be different degrees of each. First of all, get there when the park opens, no questions asked. Hit all the rides you possibly can by around 3:00pm. At 3:00 this is when you should start thinking about seeing one of the last Scary Bird Shows of the day (if you are interested), checking out the Globe of Death (If you are interested), and by 4:00, checking out the Batman Begins Stunt show (I y a i ), and The Galloping Ghoulmet (I y a i). Between when you are done w/ seeing the shows you want and 5:30pm or 6:30pm (which is when the mazes will open) you can do one of two things: You can either hit another ride, OR, you can get in line early for one of the larger mazes. I recomend Willoughby's Mansion, Jokester's Hideout, or Carnage E. Hall. (And pretty much in that order too.) My reasoning: Willoughby's Mansion is at the top of Samurai Summit, if you hit that maze first, you don't have to worry about going up there again. Jokester's is a good first maze, so if you don't want to start at the top of the hill, start at Jokester's because the line will grow as the night grows older. And finally you can start w/ Carnage E. Hall, soley because this is the slowest moving line, so you might want to start early. AND, if you wait for this maze, you're bound to see The Galloping Ghoulmet show while you are waiting. After you hit a few mazes, don't forget about Cuerpo No, the heartless comic show, and the High Sierra Hypnotist, as well as the monster alleys in Gotham, by Jokester's, and between Baja Ridge and Rapids camp. Around 8:00, try to regroup and figure out what you haven't done, and what your top priorities are for the last to hours. Mazes, or rides? X and Tatsu close their lines at 9:00 pm, most other rides, at 9:50pm. The mazes however will close there lines, most of the time, right at 10:00pm. If you are in line by 10, you can spend non-park time in line which also helps maxim-azation of time. New pictures should be up soon!
  12. Since there was immediate interest, we can discuss it now. How to maximize your Fright Fest Experience: Installment 1 Which day should I go? (There will be many different tips for many different "categories" of people, so pics and choose which are best for you. I'll try to be as clear and descriptive as possible.) First and Foremost: If you are able to go to Fright Fest on Halloween, YOU ARE VERY LUCKY! Halloween Day, which falls on a Tuesday will be the least crowded day of Fright Fest. Last year it fell on a monday, and the parking lot was almost 1/3 full. Being a Tuesday this year will make it even less crowded. I don't believe that any of the mazes were more than a 15 minute wait. If you can make it on Halloween day, you'll be able to do everything you want. If you can not make it on Halloween day, then you should try (in order of being the least crowded day): Sunday, Friday, then Saturday. It may seem odd, but Sunday is a School night, and therefore normally less crowded than Friday. For Season Pass Holders: If you go to the park frequently, than during the run of Fright Fest, you should...(I know saying this is sacralige)...not make the coasters/rides the priority. Fright Fest is only here for a short amount of time, and for the most part, the coasters will usually be there. The mazes and other offerings are unique, and out of the norm. Obviously, you may not care about the Trick or Treat Scary Bird Show, or visiting High Sierra Crafts. But seeing a few minutes of the High Sierra Hypnotist, The Globe of Death, The Galloping Ghoulmet, and Cuerpo No, you may find to be enjoyable. You also have the option of buying FlashPassese tickets for the mazes. (I think they are called something else, be sure to double check with the employees at The Sales Center in Six Flags Plaza...or...(LITTLE KNOWN SECRET!!!!!)...The Guest Necessity Center in Colossus County Fair. Avaiod the line for FlashPasses by purchasing them at the Guests Necessity Center. They cost the same as regular FlashPasses. The passes will reduce your wait time considerably, I'm not going to give time estamates. Next, we'll talk about you non-passholders, and the tough decisions which await you. Thanks againg to you interested, and loyal readers! Glad to be of service.
  13. Alright, lets finish up w/ the Fright Fest entertainment. Roadkill Kitchen: Located in Colossus County Fair, outside of Magic Moments Theater/Carnage E. Hall. (Was previously stationed outside of Willoughby's Mansion on Samurai Summit.) Ghoulia Child, and her "road side-kick" Rigamortis (yes, that's how they spell it) star in their 666th episode of the wonderful TV show, "The Galloping Ghoulmet". This mock cooking show brings in a nice crowd, while also entertaining the guests in line for the Carnage E. Hall maze. The show runs 6 to 8 times between 4 pm and 8:30pm. Learn how to cook Oodles of Poodles, Flat cat in a stack, Dachsund Dogs, and other delacacies. Be cautioned of the "blood zone". High Sierra Crafts: Located in Bugs Bunny World between the tall oak tree and Totally Toddler. Arts and crafts area for children of all ages from 12pm to 5 pm. Shows not returning: Mad Chad the Chain Saw Juggler This show will not be returning this season. Normally the Warner Brother's Kids Club Show goes dark for the entire month of October, so that Mad Chad could perform in the Looney Tunes Pavilion in Six Flags Plaza near Valencia Falls. On Fright Fest Days, The Batman Begins Stunt show will run twice on Fridays and Sundays, and thrice on Saturdays. Next time we will discuss how to maximize your maze/show experiences for you season pass holders, as well as for you out there who may make a special trip down to the mountain just for this years Fright Fest.
  14. I say it is absoulutly worth the wait, especially for: Willoughby's Mansion Carnage E. Hall and Jokester's Hideout. It is only there for a short time, where as the rides are (if they are working) always there to enjoy. Experience it when you can.
  15. ^ There was fog inside the loading station?
  16. ^ I'll pass on the suggestions. For some reason i think we would hang someone other than bugs bunny.
  17. Alright, lets start on some of the fright fest shows. Trick or Treat Scary Storytelling Bird Show: Located at the Carrot Club Theater in Bugs Bunny World. Same as the regular "Just Wingin' It" bird show, with a slight revision in the script, slightly different bird tricks, and gussied up stage for Halloween. 3 or 4 shows between 12:00 and 5:00pm. High Sierra Hypnotist: In Golden Bear Theater in High Sierra Territory. Two shows during the later hours, show times are I believe 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Hypnotist Show, taking anywhere from 10 to 20 audience members up on stage. Very entertaining, lasts 1 hour. Globe of Death Located in The Movie District, in Riddler's Revenge Plaza Multiple motorcycles inside a steel shpere. Multiple shows between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00. Cuerpo No Located in Gotham City Backlot, near the queue line for Atom Smasher. Heartless "Comic" Corny Jokes, several times in the later hours 7:00pm to 9:00pm The rest to come at a later time.
  18. I don't know the exact #, but I should know by Saturday.
  19. Next maze up - Jokester's Hideout: This maze is located in Six Flags Plaza next to the condemed Flashback. This maze, taken over by a large group of clowns, is a don't miss. You enter the maze, and hear a speil reminding guests to not touch any of the clowns, and they won't touch you either. (Interesting, because this is the only maze that reminds people to keep thier hands to themselves.) You navigate through many different scenes including a hallway of doors, a rotating tunnel, a manaquin room and more. Similar to Carnage E. Hall, the most climax of the maze is the "final scare", leaving guests to run out of the maze in fear. Usual wait time is 30 minutes to 1:15. I'm glad to see all of the discussion, both positive feedback and constructive criticism. It goes to show, that all of the hard work put in by many people is being enjoyed by our guests, as well as putting it in perspective that not everyone has the same reaction to certain fright elements, and there is always room for a bigger scare. Thank you to all who contribute, as well as to those who come back on a reg. basis for new updates/descriptions. If there is any other topic you'd like to discuss don't hesitate to ask. For now, the next few installments will focus on all non-maze entertainment for Fright Fest. (there is a lot of it.)
  20. ^^No, Asylum does not use anything of Flashback's queue. The reason for the barier taken away was for the emergency exit for the Jokster's Hideout maze.
  21. Let's keep going, shall we? Deadman's Bog: Found in the Queue line of Tital Wave. Navigate through the mirkey bog that has infested the edge of the Tital Wave pool. Wait time usually around 5 to 20 minutes. Lots of fog, and takes about 2 minutes to walk through. The maze is pretty short, and no actual scenes except for a person on a bungee rig. The purpose of this maze is to be an alternate maze, for those guests who don't want to wait in 1 hour lines for the bigger mazes. The Asylum Found under the Metro Station in Six Flags Plaza. Navigate through the chain linked Asylum which houses individuals who may be a threat to society. Wait time usually around 5 to 15 minutes. Mega use of strobe lights, and takes about 2 minutes to walk through. This maze is also very short, and no actual show scenes. The purpose of this maze is to be an alternate maze, for those guests who don't want to wait in 1 hour lines for the bigger mazes. Next up on the list to discuss: Jokster's Hideout
  22. ...which brings us to our next maze! I'll skip the two smaller mazes, and discuss them next. I'll enclude some pictures from last years Carnage E. Hall Maze to get you in the mood for my favorite maze. Nothing very impressive though. I'll try to be as fair as possible, but I'm sure you'll see some bias. Carange E. Hall: Located in Magic Moments Theater. Theater up for sale, S.F. Real Estate (super fine real estate) has this theater from the 20's up for sale. Though for many years now, the potential buyers were always reported to be fleeing for their life. You decide to take a tour of the property to see if it is an investment you may be willing to make. The real estate company was kind enough to put the news report of the previous owners arrest on display to all potential buyers. They were nice enough to make sure you know about the theater's past owner, and his downward spiral to insanity. Once inside the theater, you and the other potential buyers are greated by Monice Fourtney, the real estate agent. She explains that she is going to take you on a complete tour of the theater, but you will have to take the service elevator to the top floor, becasue the lobby elevators have not been dependable for quite some time. You step into the elevator, and suddenly the elevator drops to the bottom floor, the basement of the theater. You step out of the elevator to the the gastly crash site of the elevator, continue into the costume room, a picture wall of past entertainers, through the costume room, a manaquin room, a prop room overrun with some creepy crawlies, a locker break room, a rigging room, a movie screening room, and end at the lobby and consession stand. All with unusual encounters along the way. You then proceed into the elevator lobby where you are met by Monica's real estate partner. She appoligizes for any unusual encounters that you might have experienced while on the tour. But she informs you that the lobby elevators are now up and running, so you would be able to leave in a few moments. She reminds you that the theater was for sale, and starts to ask if anyone was interested in buying the theater, but she vanishes. Everybody runs for their lives. This is usually one of the longest wait times, because they are only allowed to let small groups in 20 at a time, with two show stops acting as choke points. Usually around 45 to and hour and a half. The good part is, they have a cooking show w/ Ghoulia Child for you to watch while waiting outside the theater. And once inside the theater this year, there may be a black and white horror film running for you to watch while you wait. Some pics for your viewing pleasure. dressing room concession stand.
  23. Well, YOUR experience is first-hand, as far as reporting to said Sups, right? It is sad, but i can believe it.
  24. All right I believe I said I'd describe Willoughby's Mansion next. Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby, and their spoiled daughter Patience, lived in a beautiful mansion atop the hill with the best veiw of thier small town. One day they said "No" to thier daughter, so she stabbed them both to death. You see the house, right after the murder, and meet Patience as she mocks her parents denying here a new doll. This maze can be found atop Samurai Summit. The wait time is usually between 45 to 75 minute wait. With a variety of different show room, and effects, this mazes is a don't miss. It is a wonderful place to house a maze. Once the Magic Pagoda, with its tails of already being haunted, it is a creepy building to begin with, even without the maze. We'll talk about two of the smaller mazes in the next installment.
  25. The trains they use to run backwards are the psyclone trains. Some pictures pertaining to upcomming fright fest activities: With the Orient Express still down, people will still have to walk all the way up to see the maze at the top of the hill. Though i'm sure the seasoned pro's have gotten used to it. Let me introduce you to my friend: Mr. Stantion pole hole. He holds the poles that make up a queue line. But my friend Mr. Stantion pole, and all his stantion pole friends were crushed by the mean Tatsu bulldozers. These have about a month to be repared Willoughby's Mansion next to Ninja. Might be getting a floorplan reversal. This is under the Revolution track, between Viper and Rapids Camp crossing. The future sight of a new Monster Alley. The only problem is if you don't want to experience the scares, you have to go all the way around the park. Display at night Display in day. Signs like these are all over the park.
