SFOT - You're Fired!!
Double0Kevin replied to caruss866's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When did TPR become Theme Park TripAdvisor? -
I'm sure it's been mentioned that Premier offers much more than just launchers. Yeah, and of the 25 rides they've built, 4 were non-launched and 3 of them no longer operate(well Buzz Saw Falls operates as a different ride). It's not impossible for them to build a traditional coaster, the odds lean towards launch most of the time.
-
I would not hold my breath that SCBB is getting a premier launched coaster. I see them getting a Spinner or at most a eurofighter. I think you guys are looking too much into the wording of these hints. California Dreaming is a well known term to people and was probably just used for fun to refer tot he state they are building a ride in. I'm sure they are referring to SFMM in the post.

Yeah, they are really good. Also, don't forget the Back Lot Stunt Coatsers. It seems they do have more Shuttle coasters then the average company, however, I wouldn't say they are only know for them. Plus the Mr. Freeze coasters do decent with capacity, especially for a Shuttle coaster. Superman is really the only low capacity ride Premier has built, and even that has blown away expectations for what it could do. When is the last time we saw Premier build a ride with OTSRs? And nearly all of the ones they did, don't have them anymore. I wouldn't be concerned with this at all.

New Amusement Park planned for... Tracy, CA?

I think comparing to Disneyland is smart. You don't aim to be mid-range, you aim to be the best. That's what investors want to hear. If this somehow did happen, the end product likely wouldn't be Disneyland, but it might be able to credit Disney as an inspiration for it. -

There is also California Speedway (or whatever it's called now) in Fontana, which also hosts Nascar and Indy. That speedway is only 3-4 hours from Las Vegas Motor Speedway and they both do fine with hosting similar racing circuits. Not to mention that you can practically walk between tracks in the South. Being close together isn't that big of a factor. Nascar only comes once a year and Sonoma has been known to sell out with it's 102,000 capacity for the sunday race plus the roughly 100,000 over the other 2 days, so it's not unthinkable that they could both host events with large crowds as there is an obvious interest. Plus race tracks can operate fine without huge events, like the one at WDW. I'm not arguing that this thing will happen based on the above, but it's proximity to Sonoma doesn't seem like it would be a viable argument for it's failure. -

So its cursed? Precisely, or because of the gambling laws in California. Both are acceptable reasons. -

This would only be Disneyland North if it were in Sebastopol. It would be interesting I just think it's too ambitious. It seems like they want to do too many things. I think it's biggest appeal would be the Casino... but is this Indian land? If not, it can only be the basic casino with card games. If it's a full casino, I think places like Cache Creek have proven to be draws even when they are in the middle of no where. The Casino would allow for the rest to be popular, but again, it's so ambitious it seems doomed to fail. -

In theory I can actually see why a developer would think this is a good idea for the following reasons: -Moderately cheap land -Decent accessibility by freeway -2 major metropolitan markets near by (Bay Area and Sacramento) -Close to 4 major Airports (Sacramento, San Jose, SFO, Oakland) -Room for expansion and lack of neighbors to complain. -Could also draw from Reno as their current closest park is SFDK That said, this is why it fails: -Bay Area citizens tend to prefer to go north(Wine Country, Tahoe, the coastal areas), which is why SFDK is in a great location, or South. Not many go to the valley. -Sacramento citizens prefer to go to the Bay Area or Tahoe. -Another company tried to build a expensive resort with hotels, shopping and a park that had no Disney affiliation and it failed (at first). That park was called Disney's California Adventure. -Hard Rock Park It really sounds like it might be cool, and I hope we are all wrong, but I just don't see it happening. -
^Had brain damage from Ninja at SFOG. v Counts this game as a credit.

Get there EARLY. Try to be one of the first in the gate and go get a Racers Fastpass. Then go straight to racers and get in a ride before the line gets huge. Check out the other Cars Land rides early before it gets crazy packed. After that go get your WoC Fastpass. Then I usually head to Paradise Pier for Screamin', Toy Story and Mermaid (you will likely want to do Goofy and Fun Wheel as well). One thing about the Pier dark rides is that Toy Story will always have a line, Mermaid will rarely have one. So if you skip Toy Story in hopes for a better line later, you won't get it. For Mermaid... do it whenever, you'll never have to wait more than 10 mins. From there I typically head towards Soarin'. If you are unlike me and like water rides hit Grizzly River Run early cause the line will get outrageous, or get fastpass as soon as you are able to. From there Hollywood Land you have Tower and Monsters. Animation is always cool to check out and try to make one of the Aladdin shows if you can, it's a fun show. Buena Vista Street should be thrown in when you can but since it doesn't have things that get lines, it's great to check out whenever you have time. As far as Dinner goes, DCA has amazing food now-a-days. If you can, call to try to get into Carthay. If not, check out Wine Country Trattoria, Pacific Wharf Eateries, the new paradise pier dining area or Flo's. Honestly, everywhere else has good food. In that park now. Hope that helps a little.
