I really hope it's a removal for something big, the park has been doing a great job upping the quality and quanity of their family attractions like fixing up Ghost Town, adding family coasters (Pony and Sierra) and just generally cleaning everything up. But I think it's about time to go big. I mean, the last major thrill ride was Silver Bullet. As to what it is, I won't even speculate. But parks are definitely embracing rides with smaller footprints but high thrill levels, it's just what the park needs.

I agree Mav could benefit from the I305 style restraints, and I'm surprised they haven't swapped em to be honest. That being said, I did a solid hour of ERT one time on Mav and easily could have kept going, once you've done it once, you can figure out how to prepare for the rough spots. All in all ride wise, I305 edges out Mav, but they are still my #1 and #2 coasters respectively.

Wow... they sucked at keeping this thing under wraps... I mean, the artwork is one thing, but the blueprints? lol Oh well, it doesn't change the outcome of the ride either way. -
That happens on Taz all the time. It's an E-Stop. You have to manually reposition it so everything is lined up when the ride restarts. It's really easy to spin that thing by hand when it's powered down. SFDK rides don't like the heat (like pretty much every other ride in the world) so you see a lot more break downs on really hot days.

It's actually not silly at all. Engineers get very touchy about people changing things they have designed, even when it comes to something as simple as filling the ride with sand. Believe it or not, not all companies just throw out a product and look at the dollar signs, some take pride in the things they make and how they make them. -

Doesn't B&M hate silencing their rides? I swear I've read that they are very resistant to it, they like that their box track creates that sound. You didn't. You were actually very clear, that's why I joked about it because it apparently took a couple people to explain what you had already clearly stated. -

To me, it looks like the supports are exactly where you'd expect them to be, with thin walls built around them to make the keyholes. I'm probably wrong though. You said essentially the same exact thing as XYZ did. Supports are there, hidden in the keyhole structures. Yeah, but personally I think that the supports are going to be inclosed INSIDE the gate structure that forms the keyholes. I'm sorry, couldn't resist. -

I have sooooo many issues with this. First, KI has more quality coasters than 90% of the parks in the US. Some parks would love to have just one of KI's big name coasters(Diamondback, Beast, hell even Firehawk or FoF). Second, Flight Deck is a surprisingly fun coaster and one of the last of a dying breed, why remove it? Third, CP is announcing a Wing Rider tomorrow, and seeing how almost all of them have been underwhelming so far, do we really need to have them everywhere(and so close)? Fourth, as awesome as TTD is, those rides are expensive, constantly having mechanical issues, and short rides with long waits. A full coaster (that would likely be cheaper) would be a much better investment. And Finally... Beast is a beloved coaster by the GP and enthusiasts alike. Why in gods name would you waste money on having RMC change it? RMC is doing great things but they don't have to redo every wooden coaster out there, especially a ride that is already great! -
Oh wow... if the GP has anything to do with god, the universe, or just general existence, kill me now. One word for this response... Awesome. This can also be attributed to the longer load time required by stand-ups. I mean they take so long that CP elects to run 2 trains rather than 3 on Mantis because they can't get any higher throughput due to the slow load time. Well, if you have one you aren't using, why not? I don't think that is really an argument against buying a new train and more so smart thinking by using the assets you already have. Why dole out money for something new when you have a perfectly good one lying around not being used.

^ Yay school! I can start going to parks again (I'm not a fan of crowds, especially when they are punk teens that destroy everything). Maybe I'll go to Haunt this year, I haven't been since 2008. I'm not overly fond of Halloween Events *ducks* so i don't go often. They are awesome events, just not my thing.

Yes, but that's not really an argument for it, just an example of it already happening. Personally, if we are in wild speculation mode about replacements, I'd love to see the park build another wooded coaster. More specifically, a RMC or Intamin wooden coaster a la El Toro or Outlaw Run (Assuming OR is as great as we are all anticipating it to be). Hell, maybe RMC can give them the quality wooden looping coaster they had hoped for but never got. There are arguments for both. Big coasters are known to boost attendance, where as family stuff is known to get people to make more in-park purchase (toys, pictures, etc). So parks typically need to balance it and have something to keep everyone happy. -

I was skeptical that the big bulky B&M track would look bad at the entrance, but I think they did a pretty good job with it. I just hope the actual entrance isn't so bland. I'm guessing it won't be, I'm sure they will have signage and what not. -

^ You obviously haven't been on many Intamin Mega coasters, especially I305. I love B&M's as much as the next guy, but Intamin's take the cake when it comes to that style of coaster. If KI got a Giga the likes of I305, that would make the park that much better in my opinion. Plus, it's nice to mix up the coaster manufacturers, they already have a B&M Mega. -

It's only a parking lot coaster if a majority of the ride sits on the parking lot and the park doesn't bother to remove the parking lines (a la Scream). Adding to Steve's comment, the parking lot below it will likely still be functional. -

^ Isn't the tallest looping coaster Griffon? Pretty sure 205' beats 188'. Unless you are only counting rides that have actual loops and not inversion, but then GateKeeper wouldn't qualify either. I doubt this will take that record, however it could take the record for tallest inversion with the drop.
