  1. I'm sticking with Premier as my first guess. I've heard so many rumors that it's Premier it's hard to ignore. I guess we'll know soon.
  2. I wouldn't put my money on Intamin for this one.
  3. Yeah, they would have built new Croc, Flamingo and Hippo exhibits plus a modified Elephant exhibit. The ride would have gone over some exhibits and under some into clear tubes. It was really amazing looking. They had a Schwarzkopf, I doubt they would get another. Also the park has most of those rides with the exception of the swing, log and drop. They aren't getting a drop any time soon, and the park has a fairly impressive collection of flats already so I don't see corporate thinking too much in terms of flats. It's not out of the question, but not as likely I'd say.
  4. What third one? Are we considering Superman a shuttle now, too? I just think there is a huge gap of misunderstanding between a lot of enthusiasts and the parks. Look at the parks that have added multi-launch coasters. For the most part they were part of some large expansion and came a number of years after the last installment of a major ride (Maverick 4 years after TTD, Cheetah Hunt 6 years after Sheikra, Verbolten 5 years after Griffon, and Manta 8 years after Atlantis). These aren't rides you see just plopped down into parks, which is likely why we haven't seen any at a SF park. SFMM has a good chance at getting one next year, but look how long they have been preparing for it, and that is a park that SF would make that kind of investment in. It just doesn't make sense for Six Flags to spend the money on that kind of coaster at SFDK when something cheaper could have just as big an impact to the GP. I honestly think the park could really benefit from water ride. They were supposed to get a log ride back in 2002 but the V2 remodel pretty much destroyed that plan. The park's two water rides are extremely popular and it gets hot a lot in Vallejo. I think people would really take to a log ride or Shoot The Rapids style water coaster (which would help in the family ride area as well). These are rides that fit the type of budget SF would spend on the park.
  5. I think I may have just broken my nose I facepalmed my face so hard. Can't believe I'm explaining this... actually no, I'm not going to explain. More fun that way.
  6. I305 gets my vote. It's just too awesome. MF is great, but I'm able to let go and admit there are better rides.
  7. ^I'm aware of Zonga's new home, but not sure I would visit that park, even for Zonga. I've seen pictures and think I might get robbed, or killed, or both. As for the launch, we me see it as a different ride, but the GP doesn't always see past that. I've talked to many people don't see much of a difference between Superman and V2 even though an enthusiast could argue to the death about how different they are. I just think a unique coaster that doesn't rely on one or multiple launches would be a better mor rounded choice for the park. I think a Fahrenheit style ride would be great for the park.
  8. If it isn't a 340' Giga like Screamscape promised, then I will never go to Knott's again! Not gonna lie, Screamscape kind of set the bar high... I'm sure I'll want to ride whatever they build though. Anything is better than that waste of steel that is there now.
  9. After a big year last year, I've had a quite 2012. So Far: Disneyland Disney California Adventure Universal Studios Hollywood Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Six Flags Discovery Kingdom California's Great America Gilroy Gardens (First ever visit) Coming up(All First ever visits): Universal Studios Florida Universal Islands of Adventure Magic Kingdom EPCOT Disney Hollywood Studios Disney's Animal Kingdom 2013 Is going to be a big year for me. I have a lot of US parks planned plus my first trip to most the major parks in England.
  10. OHHHH... So a Multi-Launch coaster isn't really a launched coaster at all?
  11. If you have any respect at all for Anton Schwarzkopf, then it was amazing. If you are typical GP, it "hurt my head!" Personally, I loved it and still think it's one of the best coasters I've ever ridden. I still have one of the queue signs in my room talking about how violent the ride is, I'll post a picture of it tonight when I get home. The lake is split, The property line goes through it giving about 2/3 of it to SFDK and 1/3 to the city. Also the park's height limit shrinks as you get closer to the water. Where boomerang is, the max is 125', Skycoaster is 100' (that why the launch towers in the back were modified a year after it opened from their original 120'), and right along the shore it's 70' (or maybe 65... i'm not positive on that one). Also the height limit was there prior to the houses (those came after the park was built anyways) and it has nothing to do with the value of the land. The land was original zoned for a city park (like Dan Foley Park across the lake). Now that SFDK is a full theme park and is building rides, they can petition for the land to be re-zoned. But now you DO have the houses and neighbors that put up a fight and put pressure on the city, so the park doesn't bother. Lastly, Family coasters are cool, but this is still Six Flags and they like big rides. Also everyone keeps mentioning launched coasters... They already have 2, do they really need another? Personally, I would like to see a traditional coaster built at the park, with a good old-fashioned lift hill.
  12. Well we established a while ago that the original plans have definitely changed. That's why I'm excited for the announcement, to see what the ride is like now.
  13. CGA added a shade to the block break before the station. In fact I'm fairly confident it's the same one that's on the ride now, though I don't recall fans. Those pictures look awesome. I was thinking he whole turn was elevated, not it turning upward the way it does. So excited to see updated concept artwork for this thing.
  14. I honestly have no clue what they are getting, and I doubt it will be another coaster. However, the park has been known to get coasters in rapid succession before... 1998 Kong and Boomerang, 1999 Roar and Roadrunner Express, 2000 Medusa and Cobra, 2001 V2, 2002 V2 again, 2003 Zonga. Six Flags knows what a success that park can be when it gets back to back thrill rides so who knows what they will do. Maybe we'll get something relocated.
  15. My favorite was always Zonga's Purple loop (the 4th inversion). It was like a loop and a corkscrew had a special needs child. Personally I think Anton deserved a Nobel Peace prize for that loop alone.
  16. Best Steel: I'm fond of Xcelerator Worst Steel: Kong Best Wood: Giant Dipper (SCBB) Worst Wood: Morning
  17. Awesome photos! This park really is visually impressive. And I agree The Yeti, that spinner looks great, I'm not sure if it's the angle of the photo or the actual ride, but the turn off the lift hill seems to dip down with zero banking which should give a neat little lateral push to start with.
  18. I really like the one of Rebel and I305 on the lifts, that's the kind of shot you see parks put up on their sites for advertisements and what not. Great stuff, As much as I love in depth TRs from each park (helps make up for missing these things) the abbreviated all around TR is awesome. It gets straight to business. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Exactly! In Disney's case, Money never shuts the hell up! I'm ok with it though, they get these events that are big money makers and they continue to improve and expand on them (Look at Glowfest, ElecTRONica, and Mad T Party). It's kinds of a win win for everyone, Disney gets their revenue and people get and event/attraction they are willing to spend their money on.
  20. ^ I miss this Great America... This was pretty much the last season that park felt well rounded to me. Ever since it's just felt like it's missing something. I look forward to the park getting new stuff in the coming years.
  21. When I worked at the park, I would test ride Boomerang every day during my time as that area supervisor, during my time over Kong, I would let the ride lead do it... Kong is a horrible piece of crap, Boomerang is a solid ride.
  22. I think I'm on a Superman high at the moment, but ultimately, Medusa is the better ride.
