^Clearly you haven't spent much time in San Francisco. A ton of people drive into the city, and with the exception of the Street and Cable cars (and sometimes BART) San Francisco has one of the worst public transportation systems in the country. The buses on average are only on time 50% of the time. When I do use public transportation I only do the Street Cars (which only cost $2 for the day) and they are great. Also Anaheim may set these up like the SF street cars are on the Embarcadero, or San Jose's train system around CGA where they have dedicated lanes down the center of the road where cars can't even drive and thus neither affect one another (like below).

Working in San Francisco, the city of street and cable cars, I can say that they really don't cause any more issues than buses. Except with street cars you never have to guess if they are going to switch lanes or pull on and off for stops like a bus would. They really aren't bad at all. I think it's cool that Anaheim is taking steps to improve transportation around the area, it could really help with people coming from hotels on public transportation rather than just driving over.

^ That's not entirely true. The one at KK is the ride from both parks. The loop on the one at KK is CGA's where the rest of the ride is SFGAm's. And since they are identical models there really isn't any issue other than why would a park install an old ride that no one is making parts for that already operated at the park for 30 years and was not very popular at the end. Nostalgia is great, but the park would fair much better with a new ride that people in the area haven't already experienced

Shirts aren't designed to provide entertainment. They are fashion. No one buys a pair of colorful light up ears because they think it would look good to wear around town, they buy them so they can "glow with the show" but like I said, you don't really get to see what's going on with them. The lady that I was behind at WOC kept taking them off so she could watch them during the show.

^ I believe they are $24. It's a cool idea, but it's kind of underwhelming when there are only a few people in the crowd with them. In fact, last time I watched World of Color I was right behind the only person in the area with them and I found it to be really annoying. Another issue is you are buying something that you don't even get to enjoy. They are up on your head out of your view, and if no one else around has them then you just paid $24 bucks to entertain someone else.

I loved Prometheus. It's an excellent SciFi film, but it's definitely not a horror/action film that one might expect from previous Alien films. The biggest problem is that people went in expecting Alien and were given something completely different. I like that it's a film that allows you to interpret it however you want, rather than be told the explanation to everything. Saw Skyfall for a second time and loved it just as much as my first time. Glad to see it doing so well at the box office. I think that by the end of Daniel Craig's run he will be considered one of the top Bonds (if you don't already think he is). Hell, Roger Moore already says he's the best one.

It's humorous that people are upset about Starbucks. I would think the introduction of Starbucks at DCA is proof that Disney can fit it in with little to no change at all to the overall experience. I'm glad to hear they are moving forward with more Starbucks. It's been a while since I've heard anything so I was starting to wonder, though I assumed it was only a matter of time (I had read that DCA's is already the highest grossing location in the US).

I'm interested in checking this out, though I'm not expecting too much out of it. Anyone else get their mind a little blown when you think about the fact that this is a theme park attraction based on a film based on a theme park attraction? It's like sitting on the edge of the universe and looking across at the next one... ok not really.

2013- What are you most excited for?
Double0Kevin replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So far I'm kind of underwhelmed with the 2013 offerings except the to RMC coasters. Most likely I'll make an attempt to make my first visit to Silver Dollar City to check out Outlaw Run. Otherwise I think 2013 will be a quiet year for me. -
Mass ride removal trends
Double0Kevin replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Plus if you remove Vortex and Anaconda, suddenly you have a lot of spare parts for your other Arrow loopers. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
Double0Kevin replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Usually the park installs the ride regardless (well, they usually hire a company to do it). The manufacturer just makes the pieces and ships them to the park, and then has someone oversee the installation. It sounds like Lagoon might do everything except manufacture the physical components? I really want to make it out to Lagoon. It's one of those parks that I have considered many times to take a long weekend from work and drive out to Utah to visit for a day. Sadly I have yet to do it, maybe an awesome new Hyper will finally convince me. -
Legoland Florida Discussion Thread

^Ahh, surprisingly enough that actually makes sense to me. Good to hear, that would hopefully help prevent any issues if either park wants to expand their respective areas. -
I'd expect soft openings, especially because it is Test Track, a ride known to have a lot of downtime. Does it really have that much downtime lately? I mean, I know when it first opened it had LOADS of issues...for years. But I want to say that on our regular visits to the park, it doesn't go down that often anymore. At least not that I've noticed... Maybe he's confusing it with Mach Tower. Ironically enough, I missed Mach Tower by a week or 2 when I visited BGW last summer for the first time. I wasn't too bummed about that one though, I've been on many drop towers and while they are fun, it's hard to make it a unique experience (except something like ToT). I was hoping for soft openings but the grand opening is a little over 3 weeks out and it seems like they are still working, not sure they would be ready for a soft open in 2 weeks when I get there. Fingers crossed though!

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
Double0Kevin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm assuming since WDW already has Star Tours, there is no contract preventing WDW to add Star Wars until Legoland's contract is out like IOA and Marvel? The area looks pretty cool. I still haven't made it to a Legoland but these sort of things make me want to check them out. -
My last few visits, I really was tired of it. I was impressed the first few times I saw it, but it was getting old and I'm not upset to see it go. Universal is really pushing large expansion in their parks right now. At first I felt like it was more focused on Florida, but now it seems like there is always something going on in Hollywood too. I love that the Orlando and SoCal Disney/Universal rivalries seem to be heating up. It's much more obvious in Florida (where is makes more sense) but I find it hard to argue that it's not happening in Southern California now, as well.

I'm bummed I'm missing Test Track by one week, but this gives me new reason to go back soon and ride it then. I'm liking the look of the new version, though I never checked out the first version other than POV's to really make a judgment on which version is better. Either way it's nice to see Disney wants to keep their popular rides popular and relevant.

Saw Skyfall at the midnight IMAX showing here in San Francisco last night. The movie was amazing. It's the Bond film that Bond fans have wanted since Sean Connery had his peak with Goldfinger and Thunderball. Daniel Craig gave his best performance yet, the use of Judi Dench was great, and Javier Bardem... wow, what an amazing performance as a Bond villain. I'm always hesitant to say the newest film in a series is the best yet, but this one is WAY up there. I would say it trumps any non-Connery film and gives Goldfinger a run for it's money as the best (at least in my view). If you are Bond fan I doubt I need to even say it, but SEE THIS MOVIE.

Why do kiddie coaster credits matter to you?
Double0Kevin replied to edh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm a moderate credit whore. I will ride Kiddies for the credit if it's convenient, but I often won't go out of my way to get it. However, some kiddie coasters are cool to me, so i do make the effort. Like Runaway Woodstock's Reptar Blue Streak Express (WTF is it called now?) at CGA, it's a cool little Kiddie that is just fun to ride. Also something like Hippogrif at IOA will get a ride out of me when I visit the park. However rides like Canyon Blaster at SFMM or Grover at BGW don't really get my attention. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Double0Kevin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I absolutely prefer Anaconda over Vortex. That said, I wouldn't bat a lash at them removing either of them. They both felt like they were on borrowed time when I rode them. Vortex was especially traumatic. Had I not ridden Son of Beast that day, Vortex would have been the worst coaster experience I've ever had. The only Arrow loopers within Cedar Fair that I feel any attachment to and would be sad to see go are Corkscrew at CP and (especially this one) Demon at CGA. Demon was my first looping coaster and still is a great ride, I've yet to experience smoother corkscrews on any coaster.
