I will say, we have all known this was probably a GCI from the layout leak and I'm not afraid to admit I'm a bit disappointed. ONLY because I am not the biggest fan of GCI rides. Of the 5 I've ridden (LR, Wildcat, Apocalypse, Thunderhead, Gwazi) Lightning Racer was the only one I enjoyed. The rest went from tolerable to meh to never again. That said. I actually like that stats. Some of the best woodies I've ridden hover around 100 ft and 3500 ft of track. And seeing it as more of a out and back then a twister has me excited I will enjoy this one. Looking forward to 2017! EDIT: After reading the press release I'm glad to see this will be a 3 train ride. I was worried with no true mid-course but it looks like the shed portion will act as a mid-course. Helping capacity! -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

Don't misunderstand me, I don't think MIA will get Vortex, also not trying to start a delusional rumor. lol I just feel the way Carowinds is trying to grow, it would make more sense IMO to remove Vortex and ship it off to MIA and do the conversion and replace it with something larger with better capacity. -

Dorney has Hydra so no need for another B&M floorless, hoping that was a joke! However, I always thought that Vortex being moved to MIA and converted to floorless for that park would be perfect. The GP would eat it up, only the enthusiast crowd would complain. There would be quite a decent plot of land for another, bigger B&M (flyer, winged or floorless). Or hopefully we could see a nice sit down Mack looper like Blue Fire come to the states! -

Repeat after me... Theme Parks Do Not Give A Single Sh*t About Wood To Steel Coaster Ratios, Anniversaries Or Bull*** Coaster Feature Quotas Like Number Of Inverting Coasters Or Stupid Sh*t Like That ... God damn But, but but... 2017 is Valravn's first anniversary! Doesn't that just MEAN the park will celebrate with a new wood coaster to meet their quota! -

Hey all! Few questions for anyone that can help as I will be making my first ever trip to CW this weekend. Planning on spending the evening of Saturday and most of Sunday in the park. I don't wanna be that person but are July Sunday crowds manageable? Also fastlane plus is $67 online, whats the usual in park price and is there a in park discount for platinum pass holders? Thanks! -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
WolfBobs replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the lodge was comparable to a Holiday Inn. . so if he's staying overnight anyways, yeah staying at the lodge (which makes parking free, gives you the hour extra the day of, and an opportunity to buy cheaper tickets). yeah, I recommended the Lodge. Maybe it was the dates I looked for a quote but when I looked it was in the ballpark of $400/night for the lodge for the cheapest available. We ended up booking elsewhere for $85/night. Who knows, maybe the time he is looking will be a good time? that's shocking for the Lodge (for the higher end Hotel Hershey, I could see that). we paid less than $140 a night, and if you stay mid-week, it's even cheaper. but yeah, with the new "waterpark" opening at the lodge, and they ARE in the High-Season (the Summer) now, the weekend price does seem to be hovering between $220-$280 a night. Still reasonable (depending what level of comfort you want in a hotel). but maybe out of Jamor's range. For Thursday, July 14th, it's $299.99. No thanks. Not sure of the dates, but prices could be inflated due to the DNC in Philadelphia. I know Hershey isn't THAT close to Phillie but RNC delegates are staying as far away as Sandusky for the convention in Cleveland. May just be unfortunate planning for those outrageous prices this season. -

On topic of random travel, I had a voucher for flight credit from Southwest. So i'm doing a crazy coaster trip where I will be flying into Minnesota from Cleveland, attending Valleyfair (first time) and flying back the same day! -

The more and more I look at this layout... I'm thinking they're bringing back the antique cars for a nice quite ride through the woods. -

::SIGH:: I'll drop an unpopular opinion here that if this is a woodie which from the layout it's hard to argue against that I will be disappointed. Not that I won't go and ride it and love it. But IMO KI is one of the few parks that has a solid wood collection and a very weak steel collection. I sure was hoping to be spoiled with a 335ft (ya know to be taller then Fury for marketing ) B&M giga so close to home! And I'm still hoping for Vortex to go to the scrap yard to be replaced with an amazing Mack looper like Blue Fire. Now that I'm done dodging the rotten tomatoes being thrown! Cant wait for the announcement with stats, a 3D layout and a PoV! -

Live in Cleveland and most of my friends while know what King's Island is have always gone to Point or GL. I actually took two friends on Wednesday for their first ever KI trip. 3.5 hours in considerable distance and they serve completely different markets. KI is primarily served by Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and Point is primarily served by northern Ohio and Detroit. Both share Columbus for the most part. Debuting new coasters the same year won't hurt their attendance at all. It would probably help. Most out of state guests would now more then likely spend a day at both parks instead of just one or the other. -

Solution to thinking Banshee is rough: Step 1: Ride Banshee Step 2: Ride Vortex Step 3: Slap ones self against the forehead for thinking Banshee is in any way rough. Step 4: eat Nachos -

The problem I've experienced with (THE) Valravn line is that the ride has had a lot of uncharacteristic downtown for a B&M in my 3 visits so far this season. My first ride a 75 min wait turned into 3 hours due to the ride having trouble with the brake run, pretty important I guess.. But I was on the stairs of the station and committed to waiting it out at that point. Second ride was much smoother and I made it in for early entry which I have honestly never done before and waited about 30-40 mins. When the ride is operating the line moves at a very reasonable pace, just don't expect Gatekeeper or Raptor capacity. -

Can anyone on here tell me if the prices listed on Canada's Wonderland's website for items such as fastlane are in USD or CAD? It doesn't say in any obviously location I can find including doing a mock purchase. Just trying to do some research for an upcoming trip. Thanks! -

Yes. If a fastlane or Fastlane Plus is in your budget, get it. It's a holiday weekend. With a new coaster, the park will be packed. -

If you're staying at DreamMore its a free perk for staying at their resort! I would say at $30 a person I would just factor it into the budget and get them if you can. They also work on shows and their shows are great! It's nice having a front row seat saved for you! They are exactly like Six Flags Flashpass if you've used one of those before. -

Yes, Cause that is the enthusiasts point of view. Your average local and regional visitor will continue going, as you can see by the park not losing attendance. -

I will agree that Afterburn is better than Volcano! I would take Afterburn over almost any invert other then Montu or Banshee. -

Only coaster enthusiasts would care if it's a clone. The local and regional market probably wouldn't even know or care. IF this is a coaster, and not just the flats that have been announced 2017 may be the year I take a Mid-America trip and finally hit up Valleyfair, Adventureland, WoF, SDC and SFStl. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
WolfBobs replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, Kings Island are the 3 highest attended seasonal parks in the chain. Each topping 3 million guests annually. THAT'S why they continue to get the larger coasters at a more frequent pace then other parks in the chain. With investment dollars then going to Knotts (highest attended but year round and severely hamstrung with land) and Carowinds. Why does this still befuddle people so much? The parks that can give a quicker ROI will merit attractions at a more frequent pace then others. Valleyfair, WoF, Dorney, MiA will all get their new coasters... eventually, when the chain feels it's time. -

I'm not renewing my passes this year now that the park isn't getting the soda machines I think we are entitled to! It is our anniversary after all! -
Without scrolling back through the pages can some one answer a quick question for me? I'll be in LA this October and was wondering when Hollywood Horror Nights tickets typically go on sale? Any info on the official website still references 2015. I will only have Thursday night available to go and don't want to miss out due to the possibility of tickets selling out. Thanks in advance!
