  1. I gotta go with the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This project alone has put Universal back on the map in the theme park industry and is making Disney step up their game
  2. I agree with most of the blunders already stated. But I am quite surprised that Rip Ride Rockit at Universal hasn't been mentioned yet. The ride has been nothing but a headache since it was built.
  3. Did you know that Zonga (SFDK) has been relocated 4 times, the most out of any roller coaster (Not counting traveling coasters)
  4. Topthrill, Man I can't thank you enough for taking all these wonderful pictures of a true family park. This was my first ever amusement park and will always keep a special place in my heart. I don't think I'll ever forget the countless nights riding the YoYo, Musik Express, Casino, the Mirage, Rotor, Skyscraper and of course my personal favorite, the Big Dipper. Man what I would do for some good old memorabilia. Thanks again man!
  5. Dominator?? how original Or even better how about the 10 inversion roller coaster at Chimelong Paradise. I bet ya $5 its a woodie EDIT: ok anything at Chimelong Paradise (motorbike launch coaster, family gravity coaster etc...)
  6. You weren't the only one who loved Big Dipper. Sure its a little on the rough side but that thing is an airtime machine!(well in the front row) If you want an intense ride on a classic woodie, try the back row on this thing. It will have you fearing for your life! I grew up in the small town of Solon, right next to Aurora. This park really was in its prime in the early 1990s and I really hoped that CF would bring it back to its original glory. Its a shame to see them close it down. But I think at the least they should keep their classic rides (big dipper, double loop, merry oldies, skyscraper(if that thing ever runs again) kinda like how Wyandot Lake used to be. The park really had some great potential to be a headline park with the purchase of sea world, but truthfully is was that move that helped kill it. They tried to do too much in too small a time frame. It truly is sad to see a classic park like that (and my first ever amusement park!) be completely gutted. I can only hope they salvage the classic rides
  7. The Vekoma roughness is really only seen on the cloned models like Boomerangs and standard SLCs (but not on the Roller Skater models) Some of their lesser seen models like the motorbikes, flying dutchmans, and launched coasters are said to be more smooth.
  8. We should make all new members take a typing quiz before we let them onto the forum
  9. This will be my fourth year doing the candlelight processional. In the past 3 years, I have had: 2004 - Joshua Morrow - He was probably my least favorite of the 3 2005 - John Stamos (Uncle Jessie!) - He did a really good job and was pretty funny on the side 2006 - Brian Dennehy - This guy did a great job and was quite humorous My school hasn't decided when we are going this year but hopefully it will be someone good. I'd love to see David Robinson but I think it's too early for us
  10. Seeing as I am in this age range, I understand why we are more apt to talk in such a way. Some of the 12-17 year olds have some sort of text messaging that they use whether it be AOL instant messanger or just on their cell phone (which if you are this age and you have a cell phone you are super lucky! I had to wait till my 16th birthday) Anyways, its just difficult for some to translate to proper grammar when on the internet. It's considered to be cool (I don't know why) to type in the fastest way possible which leads to spelling shortcuts. We will just have to enforce our rules stronger on those who don't obey them and hopefully they will change
  11. I live in tiny Valrico Florida which is just outside of Tampa
  12. I got my first visit to BGE this past monday and i must say it was pretty awesome. I rode Griffon 1st thing in the morning and it was only about a 10 min wait. IMO, it was definately not the best coaster there. Mind you this is coming from a BGA pass holder with over 50 rides on SheiKra. It just feels like the coaster was crammed into the France area. The theming was also very weak. It was only evident from the station and the onride photo viewer right outside of it. And I hate the fact that the splashdown is completely out of the way of the normal path. As for the coaster itself, that second immelman didn't do much. Yes this ride was definately a smart move for Busch but it just doesn't offer the kind of experiances on Alpengeist or Apollo's Chariot. Personally, I like SheiKra better. But the whole concept of a dive machine is still just a one-trick pony. All the hype is around the drop (which offers excellant airtime) and the rest of the ride is almost pointless.
  13. I have actually experienced this on alot of wild mouse coasters ive ridden. (Ex: Cheetah Chase, the Wild mouse at Lagoon) It may have something to do with the weight of the car.
  14. Hey Guys, This is my first TR so let me know how it is.... So I started my day off at 3 after a early morning at work. I picked up my girlfriend and met my other buddy up in the parking lot. We were actually planning on staying till 10 but the murky weather drove us away. So basically all we got to do was ride Montu and mess around in some shops. It was probably my shortest trip ever to BG. I mean it was too cold and far to go and ride the best coaster in the park (Kumba!). O well hope you enjoy! EDIT: I now hold a new respect for those who do Photo TR. It took me almost a half hour to just upload the photos and I had to redo it because I had them in the wrong order. Now I understand the amount of work that goes into these reports Peace out Work! Thanks for wasting 6 hours of my day As you can tell, my friends are super excited Obligatory Montu from the tram shot The REAL entrance to Montu Always need a good loop shot Montu barrel roll through Montu! Riders trying to kick over the umbrella lift hill....Through the PALM Tree! Montu climbs walls like Spiderman Montu's twisty goodness The Montu bird says.....GRRR! Gimme some candy! Greetings Earthlings This is the alternate to a pirate eyepatch Thanks folks for looking..Uh huh uh huh
  15. One that really stands out in my mind is Lagoon in Utah. Its not really underrated but its very unknown to most people. I was lucky to visit it about 4 years ago and it actually had an excellant atmosphere. There was a nice selection of coasters and rides and an awesome view. Not to mention, there is also an RV park (where i stayed) literally right next to it. And the park is slowly building its rep with the addition of 3 coasters in the past 4 years. I definately wanna make another visit once Wicked opens
  16. Coming from the perspective of one's old hometown park, i feel this is a smart move for GL. Back in the early 90s, I LOVED visiting the park on a monthly basis. It had a perfect balance of rides and an extremely family friendly atmosphere. During my most recent visit (about 3 years ago) I was disgusted by how bad SF ruined the atmosphere of the park. They took the park and completely drove it to the ground. I don't think there was ever an already operating park that built 4 coasters in one year and its living proof that its business suicide. X-flight needed to go. Sure it sounded like a great ride, but it had way too much down-time and just kept draining money. Im not completely sure on why they are removing SV seeing as it was also one of the more popular rides at the park, but im sure its all apart of CF's master plan to rebuild GL back to its golden days. Sure it may not be a top park for us coaster enthusiasts, but for the small town families in cleveland, its perfect. (But dont get too discouraged, maybe CF is goin to suprise us with the rumored hypercoaster after the park is restored to its former glory!!)
  17. I think Big Dipper @ GL is heavily underrated. If u ever get around to riding this coaster, RIDE IN THE BACK!! Can u say major ejector airtime?? (well atleast for me) Almost every drop had me literally standing up.
  18. Ya know this woodie is ranked #5 on Mitch Hawker's Internet Poll which is pretty damn good for a coaster that no-one has ever heard of. I hope it is saved cuz it sounds like an awesome coaster. Check it out: http://www.geocities.com/wcoasterpoll/
  19. My favorite coaster is usually overlooked due to its age, but contains all the elements you look for in a world-class coaster. My favorite roller coaster is Kumba. For being built in 1993, this ride still kicks some major butt! It's got everything! speed, inversions, airtime (yes u do get airtime on this ride!), theming, and even a tunnel! Granted i havent ridden many coasters (58) but theres something about this ride that just separates it from all other roller coasters...
  20. Here's a few that come to my mind: -SheiKra - It's drops are just amazing! -Goliath (SFOG) - Offers some really nice floaty airtime, especially on the 3rd drop -Big Dipper (GL) - Not much of a ride in the front but offers some awesome ejector airtime when riding in the backseat. Each drop literally had me standing up! But the most amount of airtime I ever got was on ToT @ WDW. If you're lucky enough to get the 4 drop sequence, you'll be spending more time out of the seat that on it.
  21. Everest by far is the best Vekoma I've been on. It's super smooth and excellantly themed and provides a unique experiance that only Disney can offer.
  22. wow! that looks like tons of fun, especially the Splash Mountain ride. TPR definately has the craziest and funnest meets!
