Even if the restraint were to fail, you'd think they would have had a redundant belt connecting to the restraint and the front of the seat? But, since it is a Chinese manufactured ride, I guess they skipped the back up safety features. It's a horrible incident and it's quite surprising that they caught it on video as if the one filming it knew something like this was going to happen.

Yes, now the tower should be going up soon! The only problem now is the horrible weather we'll be receiving over the next couple of days, so that may slow down the progress considerably. -

I haven't been yet, but there is the Carnival Museum that just opened last year in Brantford, Ontario. They have a few operating vintage rides such as a carousel and a couple other rides. They also have memorabilia from many past carnival operators including Conklin Shows. I plan on visiting there this summer and hopefully creating a miniature trip report to share here.

Sorry, I didn't mean to pick on and attack Darien Lake's maintenance. I also acknowledge that it was quite unfair to compare Darien Lake to Canada's Wonderland. It's just a shame that the park isn't owned by a better company that would actually take care of the park, bring in revenue, and properly maintain the rides. As to answering Darienlaker's question, yes Huss still does manufacturer their swinging Pirate Ship. Also, Canada's Wonderland is the most visited seasonal amusement park in North America.

Here is a construction photo update of Skyhawk at Canada's Wonderland. It appears that they have the concrete foundation in, electrical complete and the ride operators' booth being built. Photo Credit: Canada's Wonderland's Facebook post -
Yes, it would be great to see as they have a rather small footprint and are very thrilling. Also, they can be any height for different parks that are looking for a more or less intense ride. I hope the Gerstlauer Sky Roller will take off in the same way that the Larson Flying Scooters (and other Flying Scooters) have at all the Cedar Fair parks.

Yes, I know I'm bumping this thread by 10 years... HOWEVER, couldn't help but notice that the ride at PGA (now CGA) was called sky hawk. I wonder if CF/CW drew any inspiration from their sister park when naming their modern take/reboot of this classic ride? (Gherstlaur sky roller). Yes, I had wondered the same thing when Canada's Wonderland had announced that they were adding Skyhawk, which is a Gerstlauer Sky Roller. I do like the name regardless of where the inspiration came from.

From what I know, older Huss rides last for years, especially Swing Arounds. Klockwerks at Canada's Wonderland is still going strong after operating for what will be 35 years this year! I've heard Darien Lake isn't the best at maintaining rides but, how hard is it to maintain an excellent Huss ride? Even though there are hardly an Mack Sea Storms around, Mack Rides still manufacturers them. Also, if Huss were to re-introduce the UFO like they have with the Condor and the Enterprise, the UFO may make a return. But, for some reason I thought Huss still supplied parts for rides that they no longer manufacturer? I'm just wondering this because Canada's Wonderland is able to keep all their Huss rides operating and all of them (except Sledgehammer which opened in 2003) will be 35 this year. It just makes little sense to me how Darien Lake is able to keep their Heintz Fahtz Paratrooper and Enterprise operating, but not their Huss or Mack rides. Hopefully Darien Lake can greatly improve and bring back their older rides one day.

That's a shame that they removed the Screamin' Swing. But, I completely understand and respect their decision as to why they did. Luckily I was able to ride it a couple of times during my first visit to the park last June! I really enjoyed Screamin' Swing due to it's amazing amount of airtime! Below is a video of me taking my first ride on the Screamin' Swing at Dorney Park back in June.

Here is a screenshot of the loose articles policy. The park says all glasses must be secured with a strap. Hopefully this answers your question! -

I would also have to say that many traveling fun houses and ghost trains aren't that great as many of the props, effects, and mechanical moving parts don't work. But, the artwork can be some of the greatest on these not so great fun houses. The Cuckoo Haus fun house that comes to my local fair is really broken as the moving barrels leading up the stairs as you enter don't move, the moving platforms don't move, and the turn table on the top floor doesn't spin. But, luckily the rotating barrel spins at the end most of the time when an perator is present. But, like I've said, it does have some of the best artwork for a Cuckoo Haus fun house! Another nice looking fun house on the outside, but non-functional on the inside is North American Midway's Rock N Roll fun house that comes to the Ex in Toronto. Once you go inside, the interior appearance is quite awful as all there is inside are scratched mirrors, a broken TV, and flashing strobe lights. Also, all the moving components (including the floor rollers) are non-operational. As for the rotating barrel at the end, I can't ever remember it functioning during the past nine years that I've been going. Sometime within the past few years, they've decided to put a black mat over it so that way it doesn't disappoint riders. Now, as for the Haunted Mansion that comes to The Ex in Toronto, it seems to me that the ride experience keeps on getting more boring each and every year! When I had rode it back in August, there were no moving parts or sound effects working. So, it was just a quiet ride in the dark! But, one thing that is great about the Haunted Mansion is it's exterior design, along with the external sound as you're waiting to board or walking by! Has anyone else been on any other really bad fun houses at their local fair? -

Did Raging Seas look like it does in the photo below nearing the end of the it's life at the park? It does look quite less of once it once was looking at older photos. It's kind of a shame when ride owners remove a canopy of a ride that is intended to have a canopy. At least they were able to maintain the lights according to the photo below. -

The Huss Jump that appeared at the Puyallup Fair (Now Washington State Fair) had an extremely faded and weathered backdrop in this video from 2011! It looks like a great performing ride except the background unfortunately doesn't compliment it. Does anyone know when this Huss Jump last operated and where it is now? It's a shame there weren't more of them produced and on the midway! -

I suppose it could especially rides that are not properly maintained or offer really short ride cycles. -
