  1. Try living in the US or Canada today, and they still think Six Flags is only a park!
  2. Rainbow Magicland
  3. Water slides
  4. Yes, having someone over the age of 21 book a hotel room for you is a great idea. I was thinking about having my Dad do that for my brother and I when we were going to Kings Island for the first time back in 2014 but, then he decided to come along with us. The reason why most hotels in Ohio won't allow people under the age of 21 book a hotel room (from what a hotel staff member had told us) is because prior to this rule/law there were way too many vandalized rooms occurring all too often and the hotels couldn't track the people down who vandalized the room because they didn't use or own a credit card. So, now as far as I'm aware of, all hotels in the US can only take credit as a form of payment because there is a name and an address attached to the card unlike cash. But, I suppose you could use debit but, I think most hotels will only accept credit as a form a payment due to the liabilities and issues I had mentioned above. It's a shame some people will vandalize a room for no real reason, as there is no reason for the act of vandalism.
  5. Well, apparently it has happened with some very small South American parks but, never on a large scale as far as I know of. It would be extremely expensive to move a park as large as Canada's Wonderland so, I don't see it ever happening, unless it were to greatly downsize at it's new location. But, Canada's Wonderland's popularity has grown over the past decade so, they wouldn't make it smaller.
  6. I really enjoyed SkyRider but, I'm glad it's doing great at Cavallino Matto as Freestyle oppose to being scrapped like it's sisters. But, I don't think one of the wooden coasters would have been RMC'd. From what I've heard and seen, Cedar Fair is more interested in re-tracking wooden coaster than they are converting them to steel hybrid coasters. But, I think Wild Beast deserves a re-track more than Mighty Canadian Minebuster does. I find Mighty Canadian Minebuster gives better rides in the cooler weather. That's when you can experience airtime. Going back to riding coasters that were similar to the Texas Cyclone, SixFlagsAstroworld can ride Georgia Cyclone at Six Flags Over Georgia, Viper at Six Flags Great America, or the actual Cyclone at Luna park in New York. These coasters are Cyclone track layouts whereas Wild Beast (1981) at Canada's Wonderland, Grizzly (1982) at Kings Dominion, and Grizzly (1986) at California's Great America are modeled after the Wild Cat that had operated at Coney Island (Ohio) from 1926 to 1964. Also, Mighty Canadian Minebuster (1981) is somewhat modeled after the Shooting Star that had operated at Coney Island (Ohio) from 1937 to 1971.
  7. If you really want a rough/bumpy ride on an older woodie, feel free to make the trek up to Toronto... The Wild Beast's layout is *somewhat* similar to the cyclone, and you'll be guaranteed walk-ons all day because nobody else wants to ride it (all the GP care about in that section of the park is the boomerang and the new, somewhat forceless, B&M... No love for the newly retracked woodie and the drop tower). People enjoy Drop Tower but, I do agree that Wild Beast is rough and horrible. The last time and only time I've rode it was during August 2010. I might ride it again if they decide to re-track all of Wild Beast and give it new trains. Many people I know who have rode Wild Beast during the 2015 season (with the retracking of the first drop) said the first drop was much better but, the rest of the coaster was still horrible. But. I do enjoy my rides on Mighty Canadian Minebuster which people quite often confuse with Wild Beast (don't ask me why! They just do!). But, Drop Tower is greatly enjoyed by park visitors despite it being more of a basic and shorter drop tower compared to other ones that Intamin has since manufactured. But, I still enjoy free-falling from 227 feet! But yes, The Bat and Leviathan are the most popular rides in Medieval Faire.
  8. Well, that's kind of obvious. I wasn't serious about the roller coasters being dismantled. It's quite neat to see some rides dismantled for the off-season. The one I found quite neat to see dismantled is Klockwerks, which is a Huss Swing Around. They take off the cars, then the arms, and then disconnect the ride to lay completely flat on the ground in a circle. That's why the ride platform has to be a certain diameter. Luckily, when they removed Bayern's Curve in 2000, the plot was big enough to accommodate Klockwerks. But, it's a shame that Paramount had to remove a classic ride to keep a classic ride. Maybe we'll see a Bayern Kurve return to the park as Matt Ouimet has a team of ride scavengers searching Europe for classic rides to bring them back to operate a Cedar Fair parks.
  9. Yes, but, I don't think most parks that have portable coasters pack up their coasters for the winter. But, many flat rides do get dismantled for the winter whether they are portable or not.
  10. Yes, they removed it at the end of the 2014 season. I miss it not being there as I had gotten some amazing rides on it while riding with my arms up throughout the whole ride! But, luckily it's doing great at Cavallino Matto in Italy as Freestyle!
  11. Which are you referring to? Packing up the coasters for the winter or a park moving to a new location?
  12. Yeah, also back in the day they packed the coasters up for the winter. It's quite hard to believe that some people actually believe these rumours, even to this day. Especially the one about Canada's Wonderland moving...
  13. I was to Kings Island for the first time during July 2014. I would suggest staying at the Microtel Inn, which is only a short drive up the street from Kings Island. I would not suggest staying at the Comfort Suites across the park if you're price conscious, as that's the mistake we've made the first night of our three day trip as it was about $140 for the three of us (My brother, our Dad, and myself). But, luckily I did a little research the second morning and found us a less expensive hotel which was only about $70 for the three of us. Kings Island is a great park and was worth the 7-8 hour trip for us as they had an amazing collection of coasters. But, my home park still has the best collection of rides! But, visiting Kings Island made a very nice two day vacation for recent high school graduates of the time as that was our first american amusement park. This past summer we made it to our second American park, that being Dorney Park in late June (2015). It was a nice park as well with a great collection of coasters and rides. So, a two day visit to Kings Island is definitely a great idea! This summer, I hope to make it down to Cedar Point for the first time in late June!
  14. Frontier City has confirmed that the new ride Gunslinger will be a Zamperla Power Surge. Click here to see the Facebook post.
