it does seem really early and the open hours are reduced again to 6 pm close on weekdays - this goes a long way to show that the park relies very heavily on local traffic for income - school starts this week and next for most of the STL area. hence the unlikelihood of any sort of major roller coaster ever being erected. my two cents Kevin That would be an incorrect conclusion. Assuming plans don't change you will figure out why it closed earlier than normal this season soon enough. Oh really? Well that certainly is interesting. Wouldn't happen to figure out on 8/31 eh? -

The capacity is horrible regardless of 3 trains as blocking will limit this regardless of the continuous moving train. An absolute amazing dispatch time would be 1 min and in reality it will be 1 min 30(360/hr capacity) b/c that's what most coasters tun at. 1 min dispatch puts capacity at 480/hr. The fact is this was not meant for a big a park and SF didn't care. The lines for this will be a nightmare with the very poor capacity. According to numbers supposedly from RMC three trains should be 800pph. If accurate that is fine. Not great, but in the ballpark of what American Thunder can do. As for Pandemonium, there was a power outage in parts of the park Sunday. Ideally that wouldn't cause a valley but maybe that is it? I'm really shocked Thunder River is done for the season. It appeared to have a full crew on the dock during the power outage and the water was trickling down as if the pumps had just gone down. It was open for much of Fright Fest last year. -

You do know their business model, right? There is no way they buy any more than the minimum number of trains. I know of course they won't. The 400 Riders per hour is going to make for a miserable line. -

The only capacity fix might be to make a wide version of Raptor for a two wide train. But how many inches wider would it have to be? Too wide and you've basically got TRex. Edit: Actually it looks like RMC developed a three train option for both models they're selling. It'd get closer to 800 riders. That sounds like it is a must for a Six Flags. -

Man that capacity number is abysmal. That'd be half of what the 4Ds can do, and even those have a lower capacity than American Thunder. -

I think we all agree on that. Not to beat a very dead horse, but a hyper extending into the hayride area with the station in the Ninja location would work just fine. We have enough coasters, just add another good one at the expense of an existing one. Pipe dreams We also need flats though. At least that is happening -

I think I've seen it open once or twice this year. I would definitely like to see something else there though, the pizza's not great. One location is enough. I'd like to see the Cajun food have a permanent home, that was pretty good. -

Perhaps they've done a bit of work on the waterfall then. The 'cut' wasn't straight before. Really did look like it had torn away. Whatever is up maybe a replacement can actually get the boat wet more often. That thing has almost never been as effective as waterfalls on other ready rides I've ridden. -

They had it working earlier this year. But there was a few hours downtime a few weeks back, for the entire ride, and now it is completely gone. Somewhat safe to assume pieces started falling of. I do agree the ride needs TLC. They have already fixed the water cannons. -

What if the impossible happens? Water coaster and a replacement for Fling? -

I think we all agree here that a coaster would be nice and would certainly help the park's rid selection out. The problem is corporate sees more trendlines than we can. There has to be data showing new coasters don't impact attendance here. It is why we've gotten flats since Boomerang. I'm fine with them overall, but I'd prefer it not be trickled out. Multiple parks received multiple flats in single years, and other things in surrounding years like coasters and RMC conversions. We're getting them but one at a time. But there's a reason for this too. -

Something tells me current management won't stand for that. That nook was a blight on the whole park for years. -

Anyways, back to wishes. I'd be ecstatic if we got a water coaster. That's something I've hoped for around a decade. Even though a 4D would get more use. -

Would logically make sense.....but....will NEVER happen. Raptor would be more likely. It is the smaller cheaper one Raptors are smaller rides for smaller parks. Think Fun Spot. It would probably make BTR look huge. Kind of like how SF has yet to build another low capacity Euro Fighter after Dare Devil Dive. These are my thoughts, at least. We're boned. -

The fins that you are refering to are aluminum fins used strictly for the launching of the train. The LIM system is not used for braking. Braking is done below the train by two standard brake fins. The set located on the right-hand under side of the train (in relationship to the rider) is used for the pinch brakes. The set on the other side is used for the magnetic brakes. Static electricity can cause issues with the ride, but not with the train parking after a cycle. Someone else said static buildup was causing the early stop. I figured that the LIMs provided no magnetic braking functionality. The problem does seem more prevalent recently though. Or have I just been lucky in previous years? -

I've noticed the fins are really looking worn on the trains. I wonder if that makes static electricity build up faster. -

That's pretty cool. Had no idea that much work was put in to this relocation.
