I don't see any reason to believe it wouldn't be ready for opening day. Despite the drastic change the actual work required isn't going to much different than other retracks and reprofiles the ride has had. -

Man the matter of fact way the park just responded that yeh they removed a few hundred feet is funny to me. No big. Using more of the space between Eagle and Boss in that area could have offered up a different finale with similar length but I understand the full on delete of the helix. I'll pour one out for the helix. At least it wasn't Beast helix boring. Edit: Did the math. Over 8% of the length of The Boss is getting cut. Around 15 seconds off the duration. -

4631 would officially drop The Boss out of the top ten longest woodies. Curious that they don't have a new duration. American Eagle would move to #10. I'm conflicted. -

Ditto. Worlds of Fun is marketing Timber Wolf's helixechtomy, if SFSL was doing this to the Boss I'm sure they'd have said something. -

I was wondering the same thing, lol. If I had to guess (this is purely speculation) the ride would at the most lose 100 ft. It might be a bit more than that but surely not much. Which would drop the length to 4,951 ft. Boss is currently the 7th longest woodie at 5,051ft. and the 8th longest is 4,817 ft. So I think Boss will still be sitting comfortably at number seven for at least a few more years. As to tweaking the profile to be more exciting, I'm not sure how well the trains would take something like an over bank turn or a hill in the middle of a turn. That just sounds like something else for those trains to ruin. A proper overbank shouldn't be too strenuous. I think these trains have already been used on in a hill in a turn too but I can't remember the layouts of the two other Gerstlauer-equipped rides I've been on well enough to cite it. Is this just a rumor? ...removing the dbl helix. Certainly. I even suggested this is just a ground up retrack. -

Edit: It appears another woodie in Missouri is getting an iverbank in place of a helix this year already. http://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/worlds-of-fun-announces-2018-overbank-addition-for-timber-wolf.42167/ -

Wouldn't need survey flags if existing footers are being used and the new element remains within the pre-existing footprint. I haven't heard anything about what will replace it, but I would guess that it will be the first 180 degrees of the original helix followed by the double up into the brake run. True, true. Although maybe raising the height and playing with banking could reduce forces and make an interesting element? Not sure the footers would support such a tweak. Even just removing the full helix will help reduce the forces you feel, but it'd still be quite a turn at the current banking and low height. Would this drop the ride out of the top ten longest woodies? Doubt anyone would care if it rode better but hey, I'm a geek -

I actually wouldn't mind a Troika but I doubt that'd be a 2018 late addition. Would moving it be cheap enough to add it and another ride in 2019? As for the Boss isn't it more likely they're redoing the element from the footers on up rather than removing it entirely? AFAIL know there were never any survey flags out there. -

That was kinda my idea. Similar ride cycles and everything. You could call it Harley's Highland Fling. Downside to using a similar name is the average person will assume that its the same ride. Some people thought JL was nothing more than Scooby with new sets until an employee explained how JL was different. As much as I like the Highland Fling name, I think it should be retired with the ride for now. You can't fix stupid. I suppose it'll just be Catwoman then. If an Endeavor goes in. -

Your replacement flat may well be a Zamperla Endeavor. In which case, your in for a treat. If this is what they plug in as a replacement for it, it would be nice to have something in the name that throws back to the Fling. I'd expect them to use something already trademarked, though. If an Endeavor goes in why not keep the name? -

If that is regular price that is a bargain given the full price of Gold. Of course, less a bargain if they never go on sale. -

If I remember right, it's platinum, then Diamond. Mainly bigger discounts on food, one premium parking ticket, one skip the line, and a few other things. None of that really interests me. But part of that is Gold is already equivalent to Cedar Fair's platinum level. Okay - the line skip would be nice if it was one per visit -

Yes I do enjoy having the Log Flume. There are a few parks that have removed them for other rides and that sucks. I'd even enjoy riding Tidal Wave if it got refurbished and we got those high speed drying things for the times when you don't want to walk around dealing with the consequences I definitely wouldn't weep if that second one was gone though... -

The loss of the bulk of the rides for almost the entire final week makes me really feel like they should open for an extra weekend. But that's just me. -

To be expected given the temperatures honestly. Slightly disappointing that they aren't extending by a week or something but that is also actually expected given the park has a maintenance schedule to adhere to and there's probably labor issues. I personally would trade a week later opening day for another good HITP weekend - but maybe attendence makes opening day more important. The app says the coasters Spinsanity Xcalibur and The Joker are not open, is that accurate? -

Ice had started to form on Batman as well as some other rides the rest of the rides simply didn't like the cold. Kudos to SFSL for finding out how to finally defeat Batman. Now my geek brain is caught up trying to figure out where and how that formed O.O I wonder what goes through some of these manufacturers heads when they see Six Flags totally ignoring their specs -

Considering the recent bankruptcy, I have to agree with corporate leadership. The park is doing fine as-is. They're offering a great value while turning a profit. Not to mention some say their financials have red flags now too. It is to be expected for them to be in a lower expenditure mode. -

I’ve looked at the satellite imagery of our park and some wishlist coaster types before too. The reality of the matter is land isn’t an issue. There’s room for multiple coasters of major scale to be added with almost no modification to the park as-is (just the removal of Tidal Wave or Ninja as shown). You could out and back a hyper by Eagle with a station on Tidal Wave's plot in the same style as your Ninja thoughts. There’s even room to add a new area like Great America did when they added Southwest Territory, maybe a tad smaller, although it’d sacrifice a potential coaster plot. There’s room for something like Ragin’ Bull on the Old Glory site. Something like Lightning Run would fit in a couple of areas as well. The reality is the reason none of this happens is the current corporate leadership doesn’t believe in giving this park the kind of budget necessary to make any of that happen. Truth is if it wasn’t for RMC conversions I’m not sure the chain has added something I’d consider a major coaster anywhere in at least 5 years unless you want to consider the double launched Premier job at MM - and I'm not sure I want to. Current ownership has only done what only one B&M? I don't really feel annual disappointment anymore. It's more a constant urge to go see other parks as much as possible. Single digits front row Batman would probably be worse. Also - they closed Batman? Must have been a guest comfort/safety issue more than ops right? -

Ignoring the bad allows them to continue as they see fit though. I didn't want to chime in. But it's the truth. Can't ignore it because you don't like it. -

2021 will be the 50th anniversary of the park. I know the enthusiast community doesn't care that much but for a park that caters to mostly locals. It would be all over the local news, maybe up season pass sales a bit......just saying. Hyper Raptor/TRex 2021 would be a great anniversary present. Why yes I have been drinking. Why do you ask? -

Isn't a Tourbillon significantly larger than the Enterprise or an Endeavor?
