  1. Hmm...... Too bad about Typhoon Twister. Does anyone in the know have an idea of when it will likely open? Would think it would be a priority since it is the new ride for the year. Have friends with kids wanting to utilize our bff to go to the water park. Considering the rate that they appear to have been installing the ride, and the number of non holiday work days ahead? I don't think it'll be ready by next weekend I think it might take 2 weeks. I was in the water park all day Saturday. The only thing they managed to install was the lip on the edge of the wave wall turn.
  2. I'm just guessing, but it is possible that they are waiting for new cars. Eli Bridge is not a very big company so it would take time for them to fill the order. Also they probably won't have a bunch of Scrambler cars lying around since they should last decades before they need to be replaced. Whole new cars? Guess that could explain it. Didn't seem to be in bad shape at all though.
  3. Typhoon Twister did miss opening day. In fact two pretty major segments of slide are still in the parking lot (the section connecting the half pipe turn to the splashdown and the section at the top connecting the tower to the rest of the ride) wonder why they'd have ever set a 5/26 open date though. Shazam, Colossus and Tsunami Soaker all down today. The entire tube slide tower complex was down so none of those were open. Absolutely none of the water sprayers were out and turned on either, in either park. The park really doesn't seem like it's at all ready for Memorial Day weekend. Downtime is expected early in the season, but this seems excessive now. Shazam being down in particular it doesn't seem to make much sense because the cars are relatively simple and there are a ton of these rides everywhere.
  4. If it won't be ready some communication from the park would be nice.
  5. So Darien Lake and Frontier City both rejoin the Six Flags family. Funny how that works, hope it goes better this time.
  6. Not much left to install. The circle/funnel turn or whatever on down seems to be in place.
  7. Didn't notice a ton of additional vertical progress on Typhoon Twister on Saturday, but more slide pieces were missing in the parking lot. This is going to end up going up very quickly with some big lifts eh? Wave pool has water in it so there's definitely plenty of work going in to the water park. Hopefully mother nature warms that up a bit more than it did last year.
  8. Cedar Fair runs some good single day deals. They also have two and three day packages. On the flip side their season passes are 3x the price of a SFSL pass.
  9. It is all about expectations, if he was expecting King's Island/Cedar Pt experience then yes our park isn't too great. For a local park however, it is fine. Ultimately, we are about 20 years behind the time. In other words, if it was 1998 with our park as it is today we would be in great shape and on par with current technology, design, etc. yada yada Totally coincidentally that was the last year a major new steel addition opened.
  10. The Boss MCBR is definitely grabbing to a full stop on some circuits.
  11. Shocked the ride has any sort of programming at all. I was thinking a rope was holding it in gear or something
  12. I think I've already given my two cents. Worse but significantly more re-rideable - which is a huge positive because they make it easy to re-ride when lines are short. Kind of a wash then I guess. Edit: Justice League report today. Everything except the fire and I think one scene door is working. The mist for the projection is a tad weak but it is operational. Colossus wasn't running last Sunday and is still closed today. Also Macho Nacho - LOADED Edit2: Still sad. Typhoon Twister going vertical. Not only is Colossus not open but none of the ride lighting is on.
  13. Heck they used to run three trains on it didn't they? That reminds me. There are only two trains on the track for The Boss right now, has the elimination of the Helix reduced it to to train operation?
  14. You mean the back stretch leading from Tidal Wave to the Screaming Eagle? I like Sky Screamer and Superman. Other park goers seem to like Boomerang during the full week of its operating season. That section of the park is definitely not missing any draw. Anytime I'm in that section of the park there is always a lot of people around, most of them clustered around Superman and Boomerang. The only section of the park missing a draw is over by Ninja and Joker. There is usually a small group of people by Joker but outside of that the area is a ghost town. Yeah that whole area could use a change. A good example of a weak spot in a park getting TLC although maybe at a larger scale was the sleepy corner of SFOT near Flashback - over the years that has become a really active area even before the land expansion.
  15. The restraints don't really seem especially new to me. And I doubt new ones would block them modernizing the trains later they are a safety item. A more extensive renovation of the fiberglass and hardware would be a bigger investment. I'd be fine with Ninja staying with a better train to sit in. Do it to Boomerang while you're at it And I'm not sure that part of the park needs another draw - you only have one path without stairs on it and that one narrow railroad crossing that can already get busy at times.
  16. The MCBR is way more aggressive on The Boss this visit than it was the first time I tried it this way. You barely roll out of it - and just leisurely top the hill after it now. It's really not a good this way IMO.
  17. If you don't mind the subscription the perks of Platinum and Diamond are definitely nice. I was already doing 1 subscription dining and 4 Gold and I've switched to 4 diamond and two dining memberships. For $5 more than I was previously paying I get twice the meals and all the diamond stuff. Pretty happy with the deep dining discount (dining memberships used to be $17 a month....) I'd definitely recommend consulting the chart of perks before making any moves. I would have done Platinum if I didn't plan on visiting other parks in the chain. The preferred parking and line skip will come in handy visiting Great America and other busier parks.
  18. I did ride it a week ago. It feels like something is missing now but definitely is a bit easier in the body. The double up is a bit better now, but still the simple turn is a bit anticlimactic after that nice series of hills on the way back.
  19. Lmfao! They have what? 2 or 3 water coasters there? And 4 times the water park acreage?
  20. Indeed. I was thinking it'd take a water coaster for this kind of response. But this also looks great.
  21. Yes. Replacing the speed slides. Saw the paint in the grass last summer from the Tornado queue. They had gotten really rough on the spine . Mike I haven't really been able to get a good look at the prep on the site. Not sure which direction the new one will go.
  22. You've named two Cedar Fair parks though. A company that already viewed lighting packages more favorably than Six Flags seems to.
  23. I wouldn't be happy if they called that the new addition. So of course that is probably going to be what happens.
  24. I like Troikas. I wouldn't even be mad. I mean I want more but if it can be part of a two ride package?
  25. You definitely get more speed into the double up. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
