Well they clearly treat Cedar Point differently, but you just explained my point. Six Flags does have tiers, and the difference in them is dramatic - Cedar Fair doesn't and the superiority of that policy is evident. -

In case we needed more proof that Cedar Fair handles their second tier parks better than Six Flags does. -

Man Holiday World really is pushing hard in the StL market. Six Flags Corp has to be taking note of this right? -

It's all horrible. The restaurant has been on fire for days and there is still an hour long line for food. VR is blinding people and the roller coaster is literally snapping their necks it's so rough. Over at JL, thanks to bad ops, someone flipped a safety toggle and Cyborg's laser started going off, randomly vaporizing guests (although this did reduce queue time somewhat). The HITP preview got mixed up with the Fright Fest preview and now Krampus is making every child in the park cry uncontrollably. Some trickster - I suspect Wily E. Coyote - installed vibration motors in all the Boss's trains so it's rougher than ever. Worse still I had to drive a full 30 minutes to get to the park but my built in seat massagers were broken so I got drop toes. This all could have been avoided. If only we had gotten Goliath instead of Georgia. Thanks Six Flags. At least Batman hasn't started rattling. It'd take 15 consecutive acts of god to make a B&M rattle I'd think. -

Superman really hasn't worked out has it? How long has it been reduced capacity due to the first major failure? -

Why would you think we've seen the last of it? As far as hardware failures and derailments go it was relatively minor. -

I'm starting to get the feeling we're at a crossroads with SFSL. Either we get the cash we need to actually make it work or... Competitors are actively engaging the market and anecdotally that is creating interest. It doesn't hurt both have run a better park the last decade and a half. If Cedar Fair also decides to market WoF that'd be another one to fight. It isn't like WoF is densely packed, from what I can tell they have some room for new additions. Cedar Fair strikes me as a company not afraid to invest if they have aspirations for a park. Taking over the heartland wouldn't be a small aspiration. -

I just noticed on my last visit, as I was waiting for Fireball, the sign telling what lies ahead still has Calicos Chicken on it. I thought that was very odd. Best thing I could see would make this a chicken place, and redo old Loney Tunes Cafe as just Go Fresh. One side can be to place orders with the other to pick them up. The isn't the building that is being made into a HitP preview center is it? No the small building across from the Mine Train entrance is the preview center. If the kitchen in former-Calicos has actually been in use to help produce food they could open a restaurant this year. I would expect anything not currently on a menu though. I'd imagine the turnaround on something new would be higher. It'd take some cash to open one if they weren't already using the building too. -

I agree! I think we can all agree with this. The entire queue could use TLC in general anyway. The 'park' in front actually looks more run down than the 'slums' in back now in some ways. -

They were on last week except for the one in the first queue room (it's not really needed since it will loop a minimum of two times in the second room). Maintenance might have forgotten to enable them in the morning as the are separate from Cyborg's audio and movement and the main screens and audio in the loading area. They were also off on Saturday. See this is the stuff Disney and Paramount/Cedar Fair get right. I don't mean to draw the comparison, but I do. -

There also appears to be a Ninja spike and Batman spike. Tony Hawk and Evel Knievel also seem to have moved the needle. Is the 1986-1987 increase potentially in response to Colossus? The 1992 increase I can't fathom though. Tidal Wave was the year prior (and while I remember quite the marketing blitz obviously wasn't too special) -

Intamin or S&S? Either way I'm not a fan of another cookie-cutter. But at least this would actually be a coaster and could be marketed as one without making me cringe. Guess we'll take what we can get. Might need to see about improving traffic flow with a new high capacity ride though. -

The biggest issue with SFSTL is that it just doesn't have that signature ride that people will travel to the park for. It has a nice lineup of coasters and the JL dark ride was a great addition (hopefully the updates will fix the reliability issues), but it's the only SF park that doesn't have a RMC or a Hyper coaster. HW has Voyage and Thunderbird (plus the water coasters), while SDC has Outlaw Run and is rumored to be getting a major B&M next year. I visit SFSTL because my wife has family in the area and I already have a SF season pass, so it doesn't cost me anything to go to the park when I'm in town. But I certainly wouldn't plan a trip just to go to SFSTL. On the flip side, we are planning a trip next summer just to visit HW, SDC, and KK. Which is sad because The Boss could have been a destination ride if executed correctly. -

This is where HWFan's words come in to play. The park gets $x of improvement funds. That can be spent on anything from maintenance to rides. Adding a ride means sacrificing fixes the park desperately needs. What corporate needs to do is double that budget for the lower tier parks for a year to catch them up to a degree. But that is easier said than done. The big ones already get sufficient funds to do both it seems. Once caught up regular maintenance should be feasible with the current budget and still get rides - it is that deferred maintenance that is the killer. We aren't the only Six Flags park with that laundry list sitting there. -

When did we become known for our famous BBQ? I know KC is, but I have never heard that reference about this city. We have a few decent places and that's about it. Salt + Smoke, Sugarfire, Pappy's, Roper's, Smokehouse, Shaved Duck, Adam's, Andre's, Smoking Barrels... We have quite a few. Most of this pretty recent. We weren't known for it 15 years ago - but we have a pretty darn good BBQ scene now. -

At the park today. Is Batman's second train running? The line comes out in front of the wall so I'm not dealing with that if it is one train. -

Does that smooth these things out? Or are they crippled from the foundations on up? Any old coasters with new trains for reference?
