What does the work around American Thunder look like? I'm not able to go today -

It is too bad people out in Cali don't get to experience cold Batman. Side note. I was one of four people on the entire train for The Last Ride of the night on Sunday. Even in the cold, and the wet and essentially empty it still kicked ass. -

I'd rather see them put RMC trains on the Boss. On top of Iron Horse I-Box track. RMC. RMC Boss. Yes. I'd rather see that than Flyers on The Boss In practice the two are probably just as realistic as the other. Wow, the drizzle and rain cleared the crowd out -

I'm probably over simplifying things but to me it makes sense. I doubt that they are completely done with the rehabs for Boss, Eagle and half of Panda's carts. To me it would make more sense to get those done and then progressively reduce capacity on the other coasters as you progress through off season maintenance. Get a ride that's not open done and then move on and grab a train from an open one. Not start at reduced across the board from the start. I get that this is a learning process and I'm sure future seasons will be tweaked. In regards to Pandamonium its all comes down to efficiency. Its more efficient to pull multiple cars at once since you already have a crane and forklift at the ride rather than pull one car and drive everything down the hill just to drive it back up again in a week. The time that would be spent moving equipment and removing cars is far better spent rebuilding them. For the other coasters it comes down to how they are rebuilt. What is usually done is one car from each train is pulled then stripped down and rebuilt. Doing this makes it easier to keep track of parts such as where they came from, where they go, whats new, and whats old. Also it allows them to work on multiple trains at the same time. You basically reinforced what I said - that they could get the closed rides completed and then (and only then) start reducing capacity on the other rides. Not really. They work one car at a time and can do several types at a time. Delaying the start of work means working in a less than efficient way and shrinking the time frame you have to work the open coasters by over a month. -

Too bad Flyers can't run on The Boss without major changes. It would allow more to stay in rotation for HITP. Not that it'd be the primary reason for wanting them on The Boss. -

Yes indeed. Two indoor shows for HITP though, Empire and Palace. Miss Kitty's is repurposed for Santa photos. Maintenance is standing at the American Thunder console with the op. Are they working on some sort of adjustment? -

Boomerang, Fireball, Minetrain and Skyscreamer are all open even though not originally supposed to be open. Yeah I heard Fireball and Boomerang were too after I got in here. Awesome work responding to crowd, staff and weather conditions. -

So basically Six Flags takes a really pragmatic approach. They'll run a ride until they have proof it cannot run in those conditions. Edit: First thing I notice walking in is Skyscreamer running. The railroad track rule isn't in effect? -

I did notice that it was open. Just didn't mention it here because i figured it wouldn't be permanent. Then again I guess bad enough conditions would shut down just about anything except Batman which apparently defies physics I saw that Pandemonium had an issue a decent portion of the night - maintenance had a flashlight out shining at the brake run. -

Colossus actually makes for an interesting way to see the light show. It is really apparent the original plan was to have the Flume-Moon Cars path closed. The only decorations seen to be repurposed Fright Fest lights. I'm really happy it is open though - American Thunder ran pretty well even after an E-Stop. It was perceptibly slower but it'll definitely handle even lower temps. -

A nip in the air. Perfect to remind us of the season. Didn't know the lights on the other tree's were also part of the show. Nice. -

In cold temperatures Mine Train won't be able to make the climb out of the tunnel, which is why there is anti-rollbacks on climb out of the tunnel. For both Boss and Mine Train it has nothing to do with the trains themselves and more to do with layout. I see. And even if the speed could be increased with a bigger third lift the upstop design wouldn't handle negative G's well. Not sure if that speed would be high enough to generate air time but maybe. I just mentioned to trains on The Boss because I know each of the three has their own attitude. Eagle has the anti rollbacks installed too, so makes sense. EDIT: Nevermind about the upstops. I just read that Magnum XL originally only had upstop pads and that has plenty of airtime - it seems they just wore quickly. -

Well we already knew The Boss had issues in colder weather. Even if they could get it running on the one fast train it is probably more trouble than it is worth. I'm not sure how Eagle's PTC trains handle the cold, but ultimately being able to close off Illinois helps reduce the man hours needed. The one I'm curious about is Mine Train - supposedly Arrows work pretty well in the cold, but it isn't on the list. Is the Mine Train chassis just completely different in this regard? The station is entirely covered and has HVAC right? -

Six Flags St. Louis received 5 pixel mapped trees in front of the Palace Theater. The middle one is 30 feet tall, then 2 15 foot trees, and then 2 10 foot trees. It was pretty impressive. Oak Island Creative is the primary contractor but they subcontracted out the programming of the trees. The park uploaded that to YT too. Edit: I should really refresh before posting. There's a caroling video too. -

Yeah I wasn't criticising our event. My technical mind really does wonder what that type of installation really takes. I do quite like each HITP getting its own focus and unique features. I would point out that a previous wish of mine would really pay off for this event - imagine how well an advanced LED package on Colossus could work within this holiday setting -

Yeah I'm here now and was going to comment on how much is already down. Blind Fury gone. The graveyard gone. The lights in the entry plaza switched to HIP mode. The stage in front of Palace gone. Scare zones nearly fully dismantled. -

We were there on Sat nite as well. No matter what year it is the ridiculous food and drink lines make me laugh. Folks with the dining pass willl throw away fun time just so they can squeeze every dollar they can from it. We opened and closed City Museum yesterday, I sat there on the roof just imagining what they could do with an old wild mouse or junior coaster up there. The 207m variant of a Vekoma might be a decent compromise - seems to fit. Layout probably works with the stuff already on the roof. And no need to manage the logistics of lifting any chains up there. They'd have to deal with the safety rules and maintenance schedule though. -

Yeah I'm actually pretty impressed. And that is with Superman at less than half capacity and no Boomerang. I will say Batman ops has gotten incredibly hit or miss though. The item policy in particular really increasing dispatch times - we desperately need the Great America lock boxes.
