  1. Well, now that you mention it. If that's how we're gonna look at it, TTD has so many problem children it's not even funny. TTD can't keep it in it's station.
  2. Dorney Park's model is small like the one that was removed from Knott's. I'm sure the larger versions at Valleyfair and Cedar Point aren't going anywhere for the time being. Our swing has never had any consistent problems. If anything, Riptide would leave sooner than Swing, but that delinquent child has plenty of life in it still. Swing is my favorite flat in the park to ride and work at.
  3. I hope they're all commissioned up by Sunday! Looks awesome.
  4. It seems like commissioning is fairly new across CF parks. After having a train sit around being pulled apart over the winter, it helps to break it in and make sure there's no problems with the restraints or ride system and the train. I'm sure the ride ops were just as enthused about cycling it empty as you were.
  5. I used to be so scared of PowTow, I only rode it for the first time two years ago for a morning test. It's probably the height that makes it more scary, but once you get over it, yeah, I am infinitely enthused by Mad Mouse than I am of PowTow. Ugh, I hate the top portion of Mad Mouse. Maybe it'll grow on me with all the test rides I'll have to do this year.
  6. Hmm... The reason I like our space shot is because of the floating at the top.
  7. Why? I've never been impressed by Detonator. Fearfall, occasionally impressed. Indiana Beach's model, certainly impressed. But I've always been bored with Detonator. Multiple days, multiple seasons, multiple visits. I've wanted to like it. Sorry. The model atop the Strat's better too. Not earth-shakingly so. But better. Maybe you should head out to Galaxyland in Edmonton and discover how a real Space Shot feels...? Cuz Detonator's not it. Detonator is the most forceful of the Space Shots in the chain. The one at WOF? Psh, my group skipped that thing in a heartbeat. PowTow FTW. We've got your Space Shot AND Turbo Drop covered. Unless I missed some golden ride experience, please let me know.
  8. If it's that blue tower is the best, don't be afraid to share! Come on! If it's that red tower is the best, talk to someone else... No one can get between me and my favorite tower.
  9. I believe Kings Island and Kings Dominion both have taller drop towers. I believe you are correct. VF might have the tallest Power Tower but not the tallest drop towers. Welp, it appears I learned something new today. Looks like theirs is 270 ft. I know right. So many good records there
  10. The one record we have going for us in the chain is that we have the tallest drop tower. While CP's Power Tower is 300ft, the actual ride portion is only 240. Our PowTow is 250. We also have the largest Screamin' Swing alongside CP. Theirs is only slightly taller cuz of the darn sign on top.
  11. At employee events? That's the only time they turn off the trims anymore, and when they do they turn all of them off (in the back). I felt like I almost got whiplash last year when I got a chance to do it, and we had a train that was about a quarter full. Personal opinion, but it gave better airtime than Magnum without them (though I'm pretty light so I get more than other people). Maybe depending on weather conditions and how fast it goes?
  12. This is doubtless way before your time...but from '96 - '98? Wild Thing's return consistently KILLED. The bunny hops were as good as the 195' drop. As I've been told the story, the repeated full stops on the first brake run forced an expensive replacement...and that was the end of our fun. Boo. It's a shame--especially since Steel Force and Mamba literally can't do what WT does. Their bunnies are shallower. It's not before my time. I'm not as old as the park but I'm also not a 14-16 year old like some people on here. They *shhhh* still turn off the trims some times (maybe once or twice a season at most, even then it's pretty rare.) I'm still salty about missing it once last season. One day of these days. Just rode Mamba recently and I agree with you.
  13. Because in the summer months Morgan hypes burn through wheels almost constantly. They're just trying to cut down on that. Also when those trims are turned off it literally slams into the final brake run. There is a video of an old ERT when it first opened of when they had the trims off. It also increases tunnel speed, causing the ride to fault.
  14. Tiger Trax to Wild Thing is like a tricycle to a Harley Davidson. If you have kids and want to see animals, go Como. If you want actual thrill rides, ValleyFair. As much as I love plants and animals, I'd still go to ValleyFair. Come on guys... Tiger Trax vs. Wild Thing is not a fair comparison. Here's a better playing field... If you wanna ride that frog hopper, we've got one of those too!
  15. Haha, no. Single rider lines were removed or changed to Fast Lane lines a while ago.
  16. There is plenty of open/possible space. Plenty. It's pretty easy to clear some trees or reroute a path where needed.
  17. Actual numbers are not public information (Be it daily, yearly, or ridership per attraction).
  18. They actually got their last one in 2009, Renegade's little sibling Prowler, making it 8 years. We'll be hitting 11 years assuming we get one in 2018. Granted, their slice of the Cedar Fair pie is bigger than ours so it kinda makes sense. Am I happy? No. Does it make sense? Yes. We'll get our coaster when we get it.
  19. Ooooo.... There are definitely going to be people unhappy without a coaster next year. I can just feel it now. I CAN FEEL IT. I kind of guessed already that nothing was gonna happen, now it just makes me more excited to see what we wwill be getting next year. Better get that park nice and clean and sparkly for the study in July. Last year when Ouimett came in July they were having us do cleaning projects all over the place. They even wanted us to clean out Cork pond, which isn't even something we can clean as ride ops. The closest I've gotten to it is walking on the train bridge or when I had to go rescue a dead phone from the rocks by PowTow. With WOFs possible big addition, I really want to go on the trip to help them next year, assuming we do it again. I was so dead and burned but I had so much fun.
  20. Wonder what they had to do to break the block to get both of them up there at the same time. Normally the computer wouldn't allow two trains in a block at once.
  21. Good luck to both of you! Maybe I'll get you guys on my team...
