Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Yeah, I was joking. I think it's fine the way it it. There usually are those kinds of fences around the low points anyways, besides the fences around the pathways. I hope it's just that one side that's wood, otherwise that is really awful. -

A splashdown? Looks like a regular fence, but it seems pretty close to the track... -

This is literally the one thing in your wall of text that is undeniably true. However, no amount of crying to the high heavens on this board is going to change what they get to work with, or Frazier's vision for the park. Go whine to corporate and Ouimet, but beware the long line of whiners from all the other parks who get the short end of the stick like we do. It's not some made up reality when it's true. Valleyfair isn't treated that bad. We actually got stuff this year, unless you are preferring to gloss over the expensive overhaul of the High Roller trains, or the million dollar Carousel renovation, or the Subway changing out B&J's, which was a slow business always. You seem to be the one living in the fantasy where everyone is sick and tired of VF and is going to leave it forever, because heaven forbid, CF is putting their money into other parks for several years. Welcome to business. It's never nice when you want it to be, nor does it give you what you want (whatever the heck you want, you've never said). Again, it's not like everyone is dropping their passes like flies, and it's not like nobody is buying new passes. Once again, whatever little fantasy you live in is very different from reality. I know several friends and family members who love VF to pieces or to some degree, because it's not like they have the same ability we do to plan trips to other parks with a better selection and better whatever. I still refer to several rides in NU by their original terms, hell, I even call it Camp Snoopy more often than not. People not getting with the times and thinking stuff is there or isn't is a thing for any attraction you go to, be it Disney, or NU, or Cedar Point, or Six Flags, or Seaworld. You're expecting too much of the GP, and enthusiasts for that matter, if you think everyone lives in the present in terms of what they think is at a place and what they remember and what they call things. -

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT Haha no, I like to respond to snark with snark. Sorry about that. You and I both are hoping these new trains aren't any taller. Let's cross our fingers! -

Me personally I would not put forth the money for this, as there is no way to guarantee that would not be working during some of those events(you do get 1 day off a week). You already get ride nights and behind the scenes time being an employee, which is better than what RWC will offer you, and it's free to you. -

Have you? They look the same height to me, if not a little taller. It's not like they suddenly have headrests, you can turn around still it looks like. -

They look like the same, if not a similar, height to the previous build. I think High Roller lift chats will be unimpeded this summer. -

My question right now is how long it's gonna take them to replace the logo on top of PowTow. -

It's not like everyone is dropping their season passes. If they just added big thrill rides each year, there would be nothing to balance them out, and then people would be complaining that there isn't any variety in what VF offers. There is a good spread right now of coasters, family rides, thrill rides, water activities, and entertainment. -

Funniest Ride Experiences
Meghna replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because it's fun to watch poor souls try to figure it out. It's also really funny when a kid gets stuck going backwards, in a corner, or whatever and throws a fit. They try to turn the wheel but it won't move, and all they need to do is turn it ALL they way in the other direction. Of course, I can't show that its really really freaking hilarious. It's also hilarious how people think they don't have to wear shoes on bumper cars. Not, that floor and those cars are GROSS. -

I bet it's a pack of ravens that will feast on obnoxious guests, or otherwise keep the queue line clean. -

Am I right in guessing that these help even out the track by holding down the wood? Or at least smooth it out a bit? I'm curious as to what they accomplish. -

The Riptide section of land seems very favorable to me as well. However, there is no way it could interact with the PowTow bridge. For one, it bounces. Second, the train already goes under it and there isn't anywhere to reroute the tracks to. It would be dam cool though. Solutions: 1. Change the structure of the bridge, shouldn't be too big of a deal. 2. Just take out a flat in PS to reroute it. There really isn't an option to reroute the bridge, or change the design. The incline is steep enough as it is, and stairs aren't an option to maintain handicap accessibility. If the really wanted to, the would need to change the entrance to the gate between Wild Thing and Red Baron, but again, the train goes right through there. And the air compressor building can be pretty loud -

Thank you for your artistry over Riptide. Those squiggles pretty much some up my feelings for that ride. -

An attendant? I'm not sure if you mean an under 18 operator, or an operator over 18. In either case, I extremely doubt anyone outside of management knows anything about what's coming next. If anything, they told him something based on rumors they saw on the same sight or heard from other associates who heard from the same source. There are also chances that they were saying something they heard from their team lead, in which case I can assure you none of us know anything about what is coming next. It is our own speculation much like what we are discussing here on this site. -

Since the Wave is such a novelty ride, it's not surprising that season pass holders skip it. I haven't ridden it in goodness knows how long myself. However, I think the fact that non-season pass holders like it is enough to keep it in the park. Out of all of the rumors I've heard, none have ever dealt with the Wave. -

Where did you hear this? Yeah, the Wave is literally a staple. There's no way it's going anywhere anytime soon. It always gets very good ridership, especially on hot days. -

It never has line due to its large capacity and the fact that no one likes it. I'm gonna ask when there is leadership training on what fate Riptide might have. I'm not sure what to think, considering the amount of money they put into it and the new ride program it got late last summer that dramatically reduced faults. -

I'm not seeing anyone talk about this. Cedar Point seems to be following in the footsteps of BGW's Griffon backstage tour by offering their own, and that's a VERY cool thing, considering you'll get to climb to the top of Valravn's lift hill! That opens up a whole new opportunity for amazing views and photos! This might be one of the most exciting announcements for this season! This is Cedar Point's ploy to knock out some guests who want to ride Valravn. After climbing that lift, they will be too sore to do anything for the rest of the day! This makes me very jealous of whoever does this. I'm pretty sure the ops won't spare the tourists from their usual morning antics. -

None of the ride operations things surprise me. The article makes it seem like employee housing is heaven, though, which is not true. It's been compared to a prison, among other things. The cheap food is true. VERY true. It's a good thing that associates from other parks can use the main Bistro, otherwise I would have spent a bunch more money than necessary on eh-quality food. No dippin' dots or anything special though.
