Laser from Dorney Park... That would be neat. I'd rather have that ride then Led Zep, mediocre at best B&M. Seriously though, anyone getting their hopes up for ANYTHING as big as a coaster or major thrill ride is preparing themselves for a let down... I envy their optimism, though. On another note, anyone else getting sick of the same few people continuing to come in to say the same negative things over and over? We get it, you didn't like the park when you visited. Do you have to come in and post the same stuff on ever single page of this thread when there is actually something semi-news worthy to talk about? Just because this thread got bumped doesn't mean anyone forgot that you already said "That park sucks" 100 times on the past 40+ pages. SROS was actually better this year then last since they did some service on the trains, but it could use some more work for sure. All season one train was significantly faster then the other as well.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I'd love to see Rebel Yell's exit get fixed. Walking by that one path by the entrance, then being forced to walk another few minutes the opposite direction has always annoyed the heck out of me. Especially when they used to have forwards and backwards and I'd want to ride both one after the other... -

2009 Season Hype...
Capitalize replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm pumped for Kings Dominion finally getting a ferris wheel. I'll probably make it down to BGE to try their new family coaster. I'm really hoping I can finally make a trip to Kennywood or Holiday World. -

Questionable Top 10 Coaster List
Capitalize replied to PhillyGirl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, that is a hilarious top 10 list... Makes me question if the author has even been on those rides or if he just jotted down the first famous rides he has heard of... -
Thats not necessarily the parks fault that the line was long for season passes, and that when you got to the front your zip code was not recognized. The line is nobodies fault really, and so is the zip code. Now this is in fact the parks fault. Some of the employees at the park, or anywhere for that matter, are not always on their A-game. Even sometimes during my short 2 1/2 job, I got irritated by a guest. But throwing trash is unheard of. And I've never heard that staff throw trash at a guest, EVER. And as for the cellphones, REPORT IT! As a SFA employee, if you have your phone in the park while working, even if your not using it, calls for INSTANT TERMINATION, which means goodbye job lol. And even though I did not throw trash at you, or am I in the park management staff that replies to letters, but I apologize for your troubles and hope you come back one day and I'll make your day at the park frickin sweet! lol Well in the fall, I was working by then and if you came to any of my games, then I know you wouldn't have said that. I like to crack jokes and sing on the mic. And I always get compliments on my customer service, even if a guest is a complete @$$ to me, I always have a smile! On the cell phones, I remember one lead in my division got busted using his phone while op'ing Two Face, no more operating coasters for him, only attending.

Debate KK & TTD HERE!
Capitalize replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holy crap, TTD is just about 2 billion times better. It has those lights ON THE TOWER!!! -
I worked in rides, but I normally received compliments from guests for being the only employee to talk to them and be friendly, and I received an award for being the most helpful. So I don't feel bad. I know I felt some of the people in the other divisions did a less then satisfactory job most the time...

I had a good time at the park this season, I always do though. After so many years of being a season pass holder you begin to love SFA for what it is, a nice smaller sized park with a few great coasters and very little lines. Its far off from other Six Flags parks I've visited, but I still love it. I'm looking at my employment options for next year after I graduate and am strongly considering looking at an internship at the park.

College Student Theme Park Employment
Capitalize replied to dougstanton's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point's policies in hiring ride ops seems kind of dumb to me. To tell people exactly where they'll be all summer, or to make it seem that way, is short sighted and naive. I know with SFA you were given the job and didn't find out until your first day of work where you would be. Then you're assigned an entire division or section of the park and you start out by being trained for one ride. From there you get trained on more rides until eventually you can operate/attend all the rides in your division. The more rides you know the better off you are as it gives you options and gives you the chance to work a different ride every day. When you're working every day of the week for hours on end having the chance to mix it up and work a different ride is fantastic. And you eventually become good friends with everyone in your division and people in other divisions as you work with everyone and spend so much time in the park. Seems like a lot better solution then giving people the false hope of working everyday at a major coaster. Obviously some days the ride is going to be closed or someone won't be able to come in and work, so people have to be moved around... -
College Student Theme Park Employment

I personally enjoyed it a great deal because there's no where else I'd rather be then at an amusement park. Although the hours can be long and sometimes helping some guests can be tough, I found it to be a very enjoyable experience. It gives you an entirely new perspective on park operations, and the opportunity to walk the tracks and restricted areas of coasters. Thats why I'm thinking of applying for full time positions or an internship this coming summer to work at a park again. -

I worked at SFA for a summer after my freshmen year of college. It was a fun summer job, if you're just looking for a job then go ahead and apply to whatever park you're close to... Yeesh, you get trained for what rides need people to operate them. Maybe if you spent more then a day working there you would realize that as you work at a park you get trained for more and more positions and as you get to know managers and supervisors you get to work better rides. True that, many times I started the day working on a good ride and got switched to a ride everyone hated to operate (scrambler) because someone didn't come into work when scheduled and I was the only one who knew how to work the ride. -
Nürburgring launched coaster

The launch is going to be superb, after that, it can't be any worse then Hypersonic. So it's all good as far as I'm concerned. -
Can an amusement park make a comeback?
Capitalize replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A large scale theme park probably not, but I could see a smaller amusement park being successful there. Its too bad Americana/LeSourdsville Lake never made it... -
Looks amazing. I can't wait to try out that flat spin. If the theming is done well this is going to be one heck of a ride. I have no real gripe about the length, I'd rather have a shorter ride that packs a punch throughout its short layout then have a slightly longer ride just to have it be longer. The dive machines are fantastic, BTR is fantastic and all are rather short, hopefully this ride follows suit.

I find it funny when I go to SFA nowadays, I worked there one summer, now a couple people who were in my training class are still there and have moved from minimum wage attendents/ops to the folks walking around in ties and dress shirts. Gotta work up that ladder. -
LITFL actually had some interesting theme elements, the shadow in the tunnel, the fire shooting statue at the end... Assuming the park and ride remain in the same place if you give it a couple/few years for the trees and plants to grow in it will look fine. I do grant that LITFL has some "interesting theme elements"--they're just for the wrong theme. Originally, this ride was to be "Midnight Rider," so its placement in the Cool Country section landscaping would've made more sense. It did amuse me that even though the Eagles are a country-music-influenced rock band, the park used one of their least "countryish" songs. I can recall on my first ride saying "what on earth is with that statue?" But by the end of 4th straight ride without getting out of the front seat saying "eh, its pretty cool I guess"
