Very, very true. And really pretty sad. Even when KD had someone die on Shockwave years ago there wasn't that much bad press, and that was a part of a particularly bad summer where it seemed someone was hurt or killed on a ride every week and the media was freaking out constantly about it if I remember correctly...

It's also a very unimaginative B&M, with the worst rattle of any B&M I've been on. We still had fun, but only because we were already in Myrtle Beach. Without a decent hypercoaster or something more interesting, the park is toast. I totally agree, after I got all the coasters done during my visit I really felt let down. LZ was hardly re-rideable. The ride itself is pretty rough, and the pre-show makes it annoying after 2 rides, imo. Some kind of major star attraction, a GCI woodie would be great, is crucial in the near future. They have a good number of coasters, but none of them are particularly stellar.

When Paramount replaced Outer Limits' trains with lap bar only ones it only took a little while for word to spread that the ride didn't hurt like hell anymore, since then the lines have been consistantly MUCH longer then in the past. Same deal with JJ at SFA, nowadays it will have the 2nd/3rd longest line in the park, it used to always be a walk on during my visits with the awful headbanging. I think people would eventually take notice of the change.

Wrong. Last time I was at the park on a August Saturday, Superman's line was about 30 minutes, Jokers line was about 30-45 minutes, and surprisingly, Mind Eraser's line was 50 minutes, all lines coming out of stations. Wild One and Roar were walk-ons as usual. I sadly agree that SFA probably won't be around in the next 5-10 years but I know its safe for atleast 3 more years. SFA hasn't seen major changes in a while, but has improved some minor things like; new employee lounge, new trams/tram lane, new slide, new speakers, new security cameras, and upgrades to the Gotham Arena. Nobody realizes these changes unless your a SFA park employee (like me ) Oh? Well excuse me. Sorry. It's just the 5 or 6 weekend days I visited this year the park was still not as crowded compared to SFGAdv, SFGAm, KD, or HP. I hardly see how this park makes a profit. Well they have to be making some money with the crowds they have, its been about the same for the past 7 seasons as far as I can tell. In my experiences the park is a bigger attraction for groups and very close locals, and a lot of people come for the water park. I wish SF would sell the park, though. I'm sick and tired of corporate's awful handling of this place. But of course they'd rather bulldooze the place in a few years rather then sell it to someone who could properly manage it. What a joke. So yeah, I'll say... -SFA -SFKK -HRP

Inverted Wooden Coaster
Capitalize replied to Vffreak07's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Props to the guy for putting his ideas out there and going for it. That said... This is the worst idea ever. Its just an all around impractical and stupid idea. -
IOA was backed by Universal Studios' date=' a staple of Orlando for ages, and was in a proven tourist market for theme parks. Myrtle Beach and Hard Rock Park is an entirely different scenario, imho.[/quote'] Not all parks that are staples for areas for ages (I wouldnt say ages when the original park was just 9 years old when IOA was opened) have secondary parks that are an instant success. I mean look at disneyland and DCA. Now Disneyland has been a staple for ages and DCA never "picked up". So please explain the point you were trying to convey... Wow, it was only 9 years? My bad, I thought it was a bit longer then that. I was mostly trying to explain why in my mind IOA could have more potential success right from the beginning then HRP, and why their new/innovative rides would be less of a gamble.

I agree, mostly because Max RPM really isn't a special ride at all outside of the wheel lift. The layout is really pretty short and uninteresting. IOA was backed by Universal Studios, a staple of Orlando for ages, and was in a proven tourist market for theme parks. Myrtle Beach and Hard Rock Park is an entirely different scenario, imho.

I made my trip to the park a few weeks ago (before all these ride closures and what not). The park was expensive, but all in all I thought it was decent. I don't think the location is that bad at all. It was 5 minutes from my hotel, the majority of tourists in the area have cars and many of them will drive out of their way to go to attractions like Broadway at the Beach. I think with the proper advertising this place could bring in larger crowds.

Totally disgaree, WDW's Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain I walk up and get a pass first thing I come up to the rides and rather then wait 60+ minutes I come back 3-4 hours later and get on in 10 minutes. Good stuff. I like the Disney system best. Six Flags pisses me off the most. +1, you make a lot of good points. I refuse to give Six Flags the extra cash for a QBot, and everytime I go to the park the lines get worse because there are more and more people using the QBots.

Looks really awesome, gotta love GCI, hopefully KD can get one in the near future. -
Your favorite coaster tunnel
Capitalize replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going with Grizzly at KD, easily highlight of the ride. The head chopper effect going into it followed by the great ejector air and laterals all make it awesome. -
My bad with the triple posting. But I don't see how I need to calm down. All I said in any of those posts was pointing out that given the proximity of SFA to me its the best option as I only care to ride coasters and SFA has a good collection. Although this is a long thread, I have in the past explained what issues exist in the park and proposed solutions to those problems (having worked at the park and spent season after season visiting countless times, believe me I know there are problems as I see them and experience as much as anybody), so your insulting generalization is entirely false. hahahahahaha your not effin funny so please STFU I made this thread to talk about the positive things about SFA. You've probably never even been there so you don't know what the flip your even talking about. I'm trying to change the subject of 10 pages of bashing the park and try to bring up the positives and your not helping. Damn dude don't get all worked up. I only speak the truth, And I have been to the park, but left because it started to rain, and my parents wanted to leave. All you've contributed to this thread is ridiculous statements that have no bearing on "truth". I don't see the point in continuously posting trite negative thoughts while not bothering to provide any kind of explanation or solution to the problem. It just seems kind of useless imho. And apparently your basing all your posts on hear-say and a supposed visit where you left early because of rain?

Exactly, going to KD is such a hassle because of 95. I keep saying that if SF would properly build up and maintain SFA people in the DC area would go there instead of KD. Save time and money by driving half the distance. People will choose KD over SFA because its a better park to spend a day at. Also, SFA does fairly well with in the park spending. Most of the groups you see go in to the park will get at least one meal in the park. Finally, SFGAdv is not competition for SFA and vice versa. I have NEVER met a single person in the DC area who ever had any intention of going to SFGAdv for a day. There's a reason we don't see any ad's or any information about SFGAdv in the area. The parks that compete for the DC area is SFA, KD, BGE, and HP to a lesser extent. SFGAdv is not nearly close enough to be considered. Of course SFA & SFGRADV aren't in competition with each other because they're part of the same chain....now should SFA be sold to say Parc management for example that would be competition for SFGRADV because it'd be a totally different company running(and improving) the place. I really don't think that is the case. You will never see a particularly large number of people in the DC area willing to make a 3-4+ hour drive both ways to go to an amusement park for a day, no matter what park it is. SFA and KD compete for that market. BGE and HP attract people making slightly more extended trips. If you gave someone the choice between driving through all those toll roads for hours to spend a day at SFGAdv and drive all the way home that night, or go to KD or SFA, the vast majority is going to go with KD and SFA.

Thank You! The park is flat out piece of crap. Thats why I skipped 2 days ago and went straight to KD to ride Dominator and Volcano. Also I do care where the rides go if it breaks down. I would like to see other SF parks to improve instead of keeping the rides in one crummy park. Lastly no way in history should SFA be compared to SFGAdv for anything. Except in that its much closer to my home and has far smaller crowds. You obviously have your opinion of the place, thats fine, I have mine.

Hours have been cut back for a couple years now, though. I'd take a 30 minute drive to get as many rides as I want with little to no wait on SROS and Wild One over a 4 hour drive to stand in 2 hour lines for any coasters worth riding at SFGAdv. KD and BGE are both too far away with traffic for me to go more then a couple/few times a season... Speaking of crummy SF parks... SFA could do nicely with a B&M standup for that matter...
