  1. Its a fine ride, a bit rough but still good. Can't wait to get to the park this Saturday for my final trip. Apparently Volcano will be getting new trains next season as well.
  2. Nice TR, I'll be making my final trip to the park for the season this Saturday, I probably won't be doing any of the mazes, just getting final rides in on the coasters, though. I'm not too big into the mazes, especially when the lines are longer then 20-30 minutes...
  3. The building they used to have the haunted house in burned down.
  4. Screamscape says SROS may also get new trains. *crosses fingers for no more ankle restraints*
  5. It wasn't always that bad,I'd been a passholder there for 9 years & prior to the SF purchase & re-branding of the park Premier was actually investing money into the place & fixing it up from what the WW management had made of it in the 80's....all that changed of course by 2002 when SFI began to ignore the park in favor of spoiling SFMM,SFGRAM & SFGRADV rotten year after year with new rides. I've been a pass holder since moving to the area when SROS first opened (I missed one year, 2001, where I only had enough spare cash to choose KD or SFA and choose KD because I was more excited to ride Hypersonic then Batwing...) In any case, I agree for the most part with what you said. I did however think the last couple years before this season, despite the park not receiving new major attractions, they were making enough small improvements that things were at least improving a bit. This season with all the rides being down regularly, operations in general going downhill again, and once again no new rides being expected the outlook definitely isn't good. That said, I will more then likely get a SFA pass once again, because I still like going there if only to ride SROS and Wild One with no wait and only a 30 minute drive, especially when a season pass is only $50 and I can make a trip up to SFGAdv at some point...
  6. Thats what most people in NoVa do, DC and Baltimore are the only people that go to SFA really. Makes sense because from MD it could be an extra hour drive to KD depending on the traffic... Traffic sucks in the DC area...
  7. We can hope. I am sooo jealous of KI with Diamondback! I think KD has plenty of space for expansion and in fact NEEDS some sort of signature coaster. Dominator is a great ride, but that kind of coaster just does not work as a signature ride. You put a Diamondback clone in there, call it "Copperhead" or something, and you have great photo ops for years to come. The theming takes care of itself by using the wooded areas as much as possible. Also, as classic as some of the woodies are at KD, I could see them possibly getting rid of one to make some room and re-use some good wooded real estate. It's been 12 years since I rode The Grizzly and it nearly beat me to death back then. I can't imagine it's gotten any smoother. Just a thought. Regardless, if Diamondback is a big hit at KI this coming season, I'd say KD has a shot at something similar in the next few years. oooh no... Grizzly is easilly one of the best coasters in the park, definitely the best woodie in the park. I would hope Hurler and even Rebel Yell goes before Grizzly. Honest question. When do you think the park will receive another major addition?
  8. Looked like a pretty cool ride, or at least different, but with all the delays makes sense to say peace out.
  9. I'm on the washington capitals message boards as well and according to the people on there all the lines were really short, only 2-3 train wait for the front of superman, no wait at all for any other row. I'm only an 11 game plan holder so I didn't get invited. Plus I'm 2 hours away most the year so it wouldn't have worked too well
  10. Anyone make it to Fright Fest yet? The Capitals had their season ticket holder party at the park and had gotham city open for fans and the team.
  11. pavilion was on that land. Nice pictures, garage jam was the biggest surprise in the park to me, I had a blast in there for about an hour...
  12. They're using XLC's old station for a haunt, I'm not sure how much longer they're planning on keeping it and another big consideration is where the new/old rides from GL are going in.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see more parks sold/scrapped before now and next summer.
  14. So this new one is a clone, right? Looks to be... I love the way these things look, looks like some awesome times and some good airtime to be had. The Intamin site has a pretty spiffy video of the mega-lite ride.
  15. Well it's not like there's a rule in effect that specifically states that if one park has a specific style of coaster then other nearby parks in the area cannot have one, otherwise SFGRADV would certainly be in trouble for adding Nitro just one year after SFA added Superman. As long as they design the layout to be totally original & unique compared to the other two hypers in the region then from a marketing standpoint they'll see an ROI on the project....don't forget both KD & SFA feature Premier LIM coasters that are EXACTLY the same save for the fact that one of them is enclosed while the other is not & yet people visiting both parks still ride them. Redfoot: I recall seeing that ad for Grizzly during it's opening year too,of course I wasn't into coasterse back then so I couldn't readily ID the ride depicted in the ad but it probably was KI's Beast.I so wish they'd replay some of those classic ads in the park's don't you? Of course there's no rule, but common sense would make it seem like an illogical addition all things considered, imo. Who knows though, with the new B&M trains on Behemoth they could probably come up with a fine ride and people wouldn't even think of AC and KD's hyper as being too similar. SFA and Batwing are only an hour and a half or so up the road from KD...
  16. CGA's invertigo has been down for a few weeks(there's a thread somewhere about it) but they got it running recently but KI's has been running well from what I've read on most of the forums. It's not just TF:TFS that's had problems lately but even once reliable rides like WO seem to be having problems from what I've read on a few sites(including this one) so it's definitely a budgetary issue that is at least contributing to the problems. This season has been really bad in that regard, when Wild One is down for the entire day during a couple of my visits you know something is going awfully wrong.
  17. I've always imagined a layout akin to EGF or MF that would differentiate the ride from the other hypers in the area. I would love to see a GCI woodie at KD. Give it a prowler-eque theme and put it over by Congo.
  18. Hypersonic was deafeningly loud. The launch was loud, but the brakes were the worst. Standing in line next to those things when a train came flying through was awful.
  19. I don't understand the B&M hyper rumors. It just isn't logical with BGE an hour to the south with AC. An Intamin hyper however, would make more sense, and would be fantastic.
  20. Makes me very happy I got out there this summer and got all the credits... I thought it was a fun park, I had a good time there. I think the main issue with the place is the advertising. If I wasn't a coaster enthusiast who was only going to Myrtle Beach to go to HRP and FK, I wouldn't have even known the place existed until I was 10 or so miles out and started seeing billboards for it. And at that point would I make the choice to spend an entire day of my brief stay at Myrtle Beach at HRP? Spending hundreds of dollars in the process? I think the easiest solution to a lot of their problems could be solved by getting more advertising deals on web sites for hotel reservations in Myrtle Beach or just general information web sites for the area. When reserving a room through Days Inn you have an ad promoting the park or something. Great way to get people planning on visiting the park months in advance so its already on their "to-do"list... I hope they can pull through and have a successful 2009 season.
  21. Believe me that problems not exclusive to SFA. I know its not, but in my experiences in visiting plenty of parks owned by all the major chains in the US, SFA is easily the worst off that I have seen. It seems like more corners are cut and more glaring issues exist in that area at SFA then other parks IMO.
  22. After spending lots of time working on that ride I'm fairly sure what happened was finally a major component broke and Six Flags said that instead of repairing it they'd let it be SBNO and then put it on the market. Corporate doesn't give the park enough money to replace parts properly so they're left polishing up issues and running around resetting fault lights. Two Face was the worst when it came to breaking down, the last couple seasons it had at least a couple fault lights a day it seemed. Maybe some day they'll either tear down TOD or actually spend the money to keep all three rides running.
  23. Are you doing meth? Alabama Adventure has more potential than any park south of the Mason-Dixon line. You obviously don't know the management like I do. Give the place ten years. It'll soon be competing with the likes of Disney World and Universal Studios... maybe even Cedar Point. Disney World and Universal Studios? I think you're expectations are a bit too lofty unless I missed some sarcasm in there.
  24. My main concern is with the audio system. You're taking one of the cooler looking train designs, really sleek and open, and adding audio? I dunno, hopefully it doesn't change things too much.
  25. Off the top of my head I can think of two places they sell beer for sure. There's a small stand along the walkway to Southwest Territory, and another by Coyote Creek.
