Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
coneyislandchris replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome. Glad you guys enjoy it so much, really wish I was able to. Clearly I'm either too old or too hefty to do so anymore. Maybe with a different type of restraint it wouldn't have been nearly as bad for me, but that's OK. I'll stick to the other seats until that happens. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Let me clarify. I rode it four times in total, twice each day between yesterday and today. Ride 1: 2nd to last row, far right. Lots of ejector, but no serious pain. Ride 2: 4th row from front, far left. No pain. Ride 3: Last row, far left. Thrown all over the place, slammed VERY hard into the restraints on the first bit of ejector. This is what caused intense pain to my right thigh. I am not exaggerating or trying to make it sound worse than it is. This ride quite literally caused me to limp for the remainder of the day, and even now nearly twelve hours later I am still feeling soreness. Ride 4: Front row, far right. Smoothest ride by far. Still got crazy air, but wasn't anywhere near as bad as the previous ride. So yeah. Roll your eyes as much as you'd like, but the fact remains; in certain seats on this ride, and for people of a certain size, there is probably going to be pain involved. EVEN WITH THAT SAID, and with the harsh thigh pain I've suffered with for over half the day at this point, this was still my favorite coaster in the park by far, bought the shirt to add to my collection, and I'd rate it a 9/10 overall. I just won't be sitting in that damned rear left seat ever again. -

I have been limping around all day after taking someone's advice on sitting last row far left. Has anyone coined the name ThighCrush yet? Because goddamn. (Still the best coaster at the park, though.) -

Skyrush, twice, before the heavy rain kicked in. Hopefully more times tomorrow with considerably less rain. -

He is! That's part of the reason why we're heading out there. He's had a blast so far this summer hitting up as many rides and coasters as he can, including most of Knoebels, and he's been bugging me for the past month for "looping coaster! Daddy, looping coaster. When?" Awesome advice, exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much. -

Don't even bother. Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case. Hopefully for mid-September the crowds have died down. But once we get the three ERT ones out of the way, we'll bounce over to Laff Trakk since it seems that line fills up pretty quick, and go from there I guess. -

Heading to Hershey tomorrow after work with the family to celebrate my son's 4th birthday. Haven't been there since 2007. We're staying on-site at the Lodge and will definitely be taking full advantage of the ERT to get his rides in on Comet and SDL (and I'll be sneaking away at some point to hit Skyrush for the first time since that's included). Any recommendations on can't-miss attractions otherwise, especially for the kiddo? Also, has anyone actually utilized their Fast Track Pass? I'm really hesitant on it considering it seems we'd have to work the schedule around whatever they assign for each of the coasters and it's not good for re-rides. -

Thanks to a Labor Day weekend day trip with the kiddo, it was the one-two punch of Flitzer and Doo-Wopper at Morey's Piers (or, aka, the only ones he was tall enough to get on). -
Signing up for Memberships with the flash sale going on right now. Had a few questions that hopefully you guys might be able to answer. 1) Only adult admissions are available, right? If I decide to get one for my 4 year old I'll have to pay the same (admittedly discounted) price? 2) I'm getting one for my wife, but she may not always want to come with -- will I be able to have a friend use it if she doesn't come, or is it specifically tied to the same person? 3) In order to register these memberships online, I need to actually pick up the physical passes in person first? Thanks in advance

What's new for 2016
coneyislandchris replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for putting this together, Larry. It's going to come in very handy planning out next year's trips! -
Not sure if anyone else is still watching this show, or if everyone's forgotten that it's on, but I tuned in last night and caught the first episode of the night. Saw Robb & Elissa's mugs staring back at me during the Formula Rossa segment! Naturally, the episode was loosely themed around cars, with Tory taking a test-drive out at Sonoma Raceway. Thought I must have accidentally tuned into Top Gear for a few.

Okay, so this might be the unpopular opinion around here, but I am actually really excited for this. As someone who doesn't really get to travel the country and world on a frequent basis, for the most part, I'm limited to what they have at the nearby parks. So having not set foot on a wing coaster or a free spin before, it'll be nice to finally get to try it out. I think this is a great addition and something that's going to be an unique experience amongst rides in the Northeast. Looking forward to riding it, and hopefully it will do its secondary job as well and thin out lines from the other star attractions at SFGAdv.

Ludicrous park food prices
coneyislandchris replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last week at SFNE, a slice of pizza + french fries (because that's a totally normal food combination that I eat all the time) was $10.50. No option for the pizza by itself. I opted for the chicken fingers combo instead, same price but marginally more food. I don't know why I expected anything different. -

Awesome! My kid's turning 4 next week, and at the moment is only 42", but he's definitely hooked on all sorts of rides, especially coasters. So about another three years to go before he can hit the biggest of the big boys, then... Be sure to let us know how she enjoys the coasters! -
^^ Dang, ask and ye shall receive, I guess.

Out of the new rides, the only ones I've been on so far this year have been Wicked Cyclone, Impulse, and, uh... el Diablo. I literally cannot say enough good things about Wicked Cyclone that haven't already been said. It had me cracking up like a madman the entire duration, and grinning from ear to ear as I got off my first ride-through and rushed back into line. It didn't disappoint a single bit any of the four times I rode it, and I am seriously hoping my kid grows six inches by next summer so he can experience it for himself! Impulse was pretty fun for what it was, but what it was IMO was just way too short of a ride. I'd really love to see Knoebels end up with a steel coaster ride that lasts for more than a minute at some point. El Diablo... yeah. It's a loop. Still have Hersheypark planned for my son's birthday next weekend, so I'll be adding Laff Trakk to this list, but I doubt it'll top Wicked Cyclone for sheer fun.
