The death made it on national news tonight if you don't think the same media that had a field day with numerous topics this summer wouldn't go to town with a coaster themed to a death omen when someone just died at the park... -

Of course then we're still out there measuring because people haven't ridden anything yet. Or the wristband came off. Or they don't have their arms in a spot we can see them. And it's now a game of trying to see it. Whereas for the most part I can be measuring and many people don't even notice it. For kids who are right on the line (like unless they try really hard, they don't make the requirement) I love giving wristbands out. But for the most part, they're a pain to deal with. Hey you can come up with a billion excuses for not doing it but the long and short of it is that the wristbands speed things up. But perhaps parks like SDC are better equipped to handle things like this. -

So would you prefer we spend time giving every person a wristband instead of just measuring quickly and moving on? Yes. You do it once and then you don't have to do it the rest of the day. It's amazing how effective it is. -

That's fairly standard. Everyone is 'screened' (measured) before getting on the ride, every time. In a single shift we'll see hundreds of people, and it's too hard to remember specifically "this kid is tall enough". And if you move to a different position, then theres a large chunk of people you haven't seen, so to be safe, everyone is measured. It takes only a few seconds unless there's a kid who's right on the line. Man. If only someone would invent a way to distinguish if a child is tall enough to ride that they could be given to be worn after being measured the first time. You know like maybe an armband. You know like what almost every park in the country does. -
At this point, there are really 4 areas of the park that need to be "re-imagined" 1. Area surrounding Ninja / Joker's Inc. / Empire Theater 2. Area around Miss Kitty's Saloon / Excalibur / East of BBNP 3. Tidal Wave area 4. Midway by American Thunder / Log Flume If those 4 areas could receive some place-making (ESPECIALLY THE FIRST AREA) I think the park would look pretty great. Personally, I feel they should just go ahead and completely retheme the Backlot Area to Gotham City. You already have 2 Batman themed rides. Put in a couple more flats (heck do what SFoG did this year), rename Ninja and you really got something. A few coats of paint here and there, some new signage and you have a whole new area that is extremely marketable - especially with the new Batman/Superman movie coming out. Shoot - you could even turn the store into a Batman and Villains meet and greet area. ==== Ok I am going to run with this idea... Harley Quinn Spinsanity (tilt a whirl) to be placed where Axis Chemical Arcade currently is (can utilize the building or remove building completely. Two Face Flip Side (super loop or similar mega ride) locate at the end of the dead end street by Joker's Inc. (it would be placed Gotham City Crime Wave (wave carousel swings) to be located where Turbo Bungie was. Utilize the Lemon Chill Stand in Batman queue as operator booth. Mindbender (retheme of Ninja to Riddler) Obviously, the rest of the land would need a retheme too (stores / food) but I think it would be a great move for the park

Yeah... because they can suddenly decide within about two days that 2017 is a good year a B&M wing coaster. These rides are planned years in advance, and if you *actually* had reliable inside sources to the park, then a) you would know that, and b) you wouldn't be telling us. That's why I, along with probably everyone else, am calling BS on every piece of this. Well full disclosure. The initial post was working off of month old information. The new post was based on information received today. Yes, you are correct that these attractions (coasters) do take years to design/etc. The thing is, both have already been designed. It's not too difficult to figure out here that they flipped the two projects. The B&M originally had two different locations that it could go in (Echo Hollow or over between PowderKeg and Wildfire). I only listed one of the two options in the original post. I'm sorry, I went with the one that we were most sure would happen. My mistake. As far as to your A/B statement. I'm a faceless poster on the internet. I'm not giving away who my sources are. The park doesn't know who I am, because I am not stupid enough to reveal who I am. AND to top it all off, I'm posting it in a thread that could be easily overlooked (it's not like this is the SDC thread). IF someone was really wanting to know "secrets" from the park, they probably aren't going to look in this thread, but here it is... the latest rumblings from back stage. Take it or leave it, I don't care either way to be honest.

Just like that... things change. NEW Silver Dollar City 5 year Plan 2016: Grand Expo Upgrades (and perhaps a minor theme change) - new slide for White Water 2017: New B&M Wingrider between PowerKeg and Wildfire 2018: Show/Festival season - new slide for White Water - continued park upgrades 2019: Riverfront Upgrade (new coaster this season or 2020) 2020: New coaster unless part of Riverfront Upgrade the previous year Flooded Mine is safe for now according to sources. Echo Hollow is still on the cutting block - they are currently having discussions on how to better use it OR to remove it

I think a lot of people from Iowa go to Adventureland. You can add eastern Nebraska, but that only grows the population by about 1 million more. At the end of the day, Cedar Fair is focusing on a larger market area with higher growth rates for the return on their investment (ROI). It just business. I also think having Silver Dollar City, Six Flags and Adventureland in this same market zone affects growth potential for WOF. Carowinds closes big competitors is Six Flags in Atlanta, Dollywood in Tennessee and Busch Gardens up in Virginia (all different market zones with their own major population base). Even with Adventureland, they still mostly come down to WOF. -

You left out Iowa and Nebraska from the population pools that go to WOF -
I don't see them removing Echo Hollow or Flooded Mine. And I especially don't see a Mystery Mine-type coaster after all the issues Dollywood has had with it. Echo Hollow's land has been earmarked as expansion land for some time now. The current board feels that the land is being underutilized - not to mention the upkeep costs of the arena are sky rocketing. They finally had to break down and put in a new stage this year as the old one was rotting away. Flooded Mine has been have bits and pieces disappear for awhile now. Instead of being fixed, they are just removing things or making them inoperable. There are currently 3 trains of boats on the back lot that have been stripped down completely. They cannibalized them for parts to try to keep the other trains of boats running. It's on its last leg and I expect that next season will be the final season for the ride. Regarding the Mystery Mine coaster - that was just the easiest way to describe it. It will not be the same style of ride, but more like the Infinity Coasters that are being built now. Instead of a Mine theme it will be an Ice House. The station and main lift area will be where FM is currently. It will cross over the train tracks and use the land currently held by Riverfront Playhouse, the Boatworks Theater and the land that the Waterboggan used to use. I've heard the old tower might finally come down as well. The pathway that goes around the Boatworks Theater will be rerouted to go straight past the Pottery House (that is staying) to Fireman's Landing. The current curve will be removed. No word on if the store across from Pottery House will remain - I've heard both ways. I assure you, I didn't just pull that out of my A$$. If you don't like the 5 year plan, oh well - that's what's on tap right now. Oh, really? Wow, I'm sorry, random guy on the Internet. You must be right. Apology accepted.
-
I assure you, I didn't just pull that out of my ass. If you don't like the 5 year plan, oh well - that's what's on tap right now. Now can it change between now and then? Sure. But I think you're even smart enough to realize that the Opera House has sat empty other than World Fest and BBQ. I think you might be smart enough to know that Riverfront Playhouse has been condemned and required major work.

I have been saying move Flight Deck to VF for a couple years now. Put a nice B&M invert at CW I agree. Flight Deck at VF would be a good fit. Time Warp could go to DP or even MIA. -
Silver Dollar City 2016: Midtown Renovation and Reimaging / White Water Addition 2017: Ice House themed Mystery-Mine Rollercoaster in place of Flooded Mine, Riverfront Playhouse, Boatworks Theater 2018: Nothing / Show Upgrade / White Water 2019: Small changes to Grand Expo area / move kiddie rides to Half Dollar Holler / White Water 2020: B&M Wingrider with station in Grand Expo and entire course in Echo Hollow area / removal of Echo Hollow

You realize that CF doesn't operate the same way as SF with regards to how capital expenditures are handled, right? Money for a coaster at one park doesn't come from a different park. Each park has a budget that is dependent on its performance over a set period of time. The major additions to certain parks that we've seen here lately was financed through the selling of certain assets. -

As a stockholder none of those parks are getting 25 million dollar coasters ANYTIME soon and by soon I mean like 5 years or more! As stated on the call they only put in expensive investments that pay ROI (return on investment). They said the next park other then their big parks to get the gold treatment is California's Great America. I don't see anywhere in his post where he said $25 million coasters. With that being said $14-18 million are not out of the question and that chunk of change can buy a decent sized coaster
