Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

I think Cedar Fair hired the artist to drive us nuts... kind of like how Tony Clark teases us. Funny how we consider the GP stupid. -

I dont want to see Shockwave removed... just until after my trip this summer. Then I don't care, but I do prefer the nostalgia. -

Flicker says it's a 5D Mk III - *arguably* Canons best consumer camera. But it's more about the photographer than his equipment. Though, a lens better than the camera also usually helps. -Amateur Canon photographer. I take my DSLR to many parks. -

That Wikipedia article is one of the funniest things Ive ever read. Its the perfect example of when some fanboy is so sure that they're right and feels that he/she must force it onto everyone. And enthusiasts laugh at the GP... -

I think it would be possible. There'd need to be a predrop for some speed to create 0-g. -

Hold on. On story at a time. First, what really is going on with le Corba? Is the last Intamin standup leaving? Any signs of a relocation? Or is it just some maintianence. Lets knock this rumor down first, because it'll set a timeframe (for the park's 50th). If this is false, then could this year be Le Monstre RMC (?) -
^To me, a rumor is a rumor. This one is fan-made, IMO. Isn't Roar East in far worse shape? - Anyone can submit to Screamscape. Lance does his part piecing them together and attempting to validate information, but this time he jumped the gun. I dont believe any rumor until announcement. Look around these forums. Many threads are claim they're surely getting the next RMC. It could have been anyone from the SFDK thread who passed this on. Mu speculation: the RMC guys (based in Idaho) made a much quicker trip to the clone in California than Maryland. Something brief, no quality all too important in the design. Expect a trip to Maryland later.

I'm pretty sure you just pulled this out of your tookus. Am I wrong? With a new layout and stronger forces, of course they'd need to add onto the structure. The ride was built with the current layout in mind. I believe you misinterpreted me. Steel is a stronger than wood (duh). When (and they will) add onto the structure, it should not have to be as extensive as wooden supports.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

^Beat me to it. KD doesn't have a hyper, so this hyper-giga combination (which a giga would make KI into) has only been done twice out of five parks. -
Ride Bucket List
RollerManic replied to Evanaj15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You can totally day trip it from Memphis, but your best value is going to be the after 3 PM ticket. It's about a 5 hour drive, so that'll give you plenty of time to get here and still enjoy the last 4-5 hours of the park, then get up early and get to the park the next day for breakfast at 8:30. Even if you stay until closing, you'll have time to get home by around midnight. There you go. Cheap, quick, easy--come ride the best roller coaster in the Midwest! Its not that. I've been to the park twice before OR. I simply just don't have control to go out their becasue of my parents. However, my chances are higher lately as I've been given responisiblities of taking short trips. My dad and I went to SFGAd for just one weekend, for example, last year. And SFStL too. -
I would love to have the Eagle Topper Tracked for preservation. I just dont know if SFStL can justify it, especially how it is running right now. What would be really cool is if they chose to paint the topper track (ala Goliath) red, just like the rails are today. It'd be very bold! Other than topper track, I don't believe we will ever see an RMC anymore. I would doubt a custom too.
-
I totally agree on not touching the Eagle; i just wanted to pitch that video out here. Lately, i haven't been excited much about the idea of an Iron Boss. The first half is just overbanks and banked curves, noting we haven't seen on a couple of RMCs already. If it was just smoother (for many more years), I would be pretty satisfied. But anybody for a jojo roll where the prelift s-bend is?

No, that is In-The-Loop... fan made. -
I am not pro-Steel-Screamin'-Eagle! Its one of my favorite woodies (always a must-ride while i am there) and one the best running classics still standing. I go as far as saying it is the best classic in the chain in the shape it's in. Now that that is out of the way, i would like to show you this video on YouTube: 0Myb9Co3RMw Not my video. This is a very well done concept. The transfer trick track is very cool and totally possible. I really like the bottom of the "L", immediately after the third inversion. On the return, a "buckhill" is included, which is a bückle that is more linear. John Allen may possibly be insulted, and I would be too if this was my masterpiece / last creation. I couldn't see Dave Roemer consenting to this either unless cooperate puts a gun to his head, but I shouldn't judge. If it turns out anything like this, I *may* get over the treatment after a couple of years.

I'd just call RMC for a topper track replacement and remove (any?) trims. After all, look at Thunder Run today, which sat dormant for five years and had $1 mil in refurb put into it. This would be if I ran the park. -
Eh.. i can imagine a drain where you could do that.. but it would get really sticky and attract insects.. eww That's why you install a water nozzle on it to keep things flowing, like at the ice cream shop for the scoops. That would be great, but considering Six Flags cant even keep running misters, i doubt this will stay either.

I'm sure A LOT of parks would love to have that used B&M. There are parks in this chain and others that are off far worse. Having the #1 coaster in the world and a one-of-a-kind invert (also an Intamin) is unspeakable anywhere. I even watched my home park accept a 25 year old relocated boomerang. In tradition, it was branded as "all new". -

Outlaw Run: I live so close to it (or did), and I still haven't amde it out. Dodonpa: WOW, that's some acceleration. I hope it is still there whenever I can afford flying to Japan as an adult. -
Not even ONE FREAKING NIGHT OF THE YEAR? On our Independence day? When Americans light up numerous fireworks? It's not like people aren't already going to be doing this against the laws, and the noises should be expected on the FORUTH OF JULY. I'm sorry, but it is a disgrace that the local gov't would suppress even the celebration of national holiday.

^Sorry, I've heard this so much that I assumed you too did not go back and check. My bad. HOWEVER, the survey states that it will be 12 stories - SFFT is 121 ft. Sorry, not the larger model. Personally, I really don't like the name or punctuation. RPM is a pretty cool choice IMO. EDIT: They're rounding off. Just how Kingda Ka is 456 ft, but 45 stories...
