  1. Roller Coaster @ Lagoon, built in 1921
  2. Crap, I passed through Kitakyushu earlier this year, but I didn't visit. Hopefully it's just a ploy to get people coming back after the massive backlash over the ice rink.
  3. Just a few notes from somebody in Utah: Joseph Smith started the practice of polygamy, not Brigham Young. The "building where god is buried" is the entrance to the temple. They check your ticket and you leave prohibited items in lockers there, then proceed underground into the temple where you are led through a series of themed rooms. It's a big walkthrough attraction. I've never been on it but I hear it's not that great. If you find yourself in the area again you might like to check out the alpine coasters at Park City and Snowbird, various things at Thanksgiving Point, and Gilgal which is a tiny sculpture park in SLC seemingly made by a crazy person.
  4. It was at Yomiuri Land, not Tobu Zoo nor Toshimaen. Here's a photo I found on the TPR Yomiuri Land page: The dude's acting tends to be very over the top in the program, but I wouldn't doubt that he was truly in pain. The same dude had a part in the final Kurosawa film but he acts much more subtly.
  5. Thanks for the pics and info! I'm somewhat interested in Yomiuriland because it was used as a filming location for an older Japanese language learning program that I watch. Check out the 7:20 mark in this video if you're interested. It was filmed in the mid 90's I believe. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  6. Thank you for the info. I'm planning to walk the Shikoku pilgrimage, go see my good friend who just moved to Japan and then activate my JR pass and visit various sites across the country including DisneySea and one or two other parks that I haven't narrowed down yet (I've already been to USJ, so I'll pass this time). It would be economically convenient for me to have a base camp during this stage of the trip, but I guess that sort of defeats the purpose of the JR pass. Thank you for help. You've given yourself an extremely awesome job, so I look up to you.
  7. Hi, I am planning to return to Japan next year and I wonder if you could tell me something. I assume you got a JR pass for the trip, is that right? Did you stay in multiple locations across Japan, or did you have a sort of "home base" that you'd return to most nights using a JR train?
  8. It does appear that linearinduction is trying to be a shill for Lagoon, but the way he goes about sabotaging all discussion across the entire internet about Lagoon makes me me think that he actually hates the park.
  9. Nice update, great writing style. The shirt with the skull says "It's impossible, I can't ride (it)".
  10. There's 2 alpine coasters nearby (including the formerly longest in the USA) at Snowbird and Park City Mountain Resort. Also, there's this thing which you may or may not be able to do if you've got a pretty big chunk of money for charity: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  11. Sorry to hear about your leg. That sucks! The park also has about 40 picnic terraces of various sizes where you can leave your coolers full of food and drinks (which you are allowed to bring in, which is awesome). There's also a collection of historic buildings from around Utah with various historical exhibits in them known as "Pioneer Village".
  12. The element is even similar in shape to a sushi roll. A little red sauce carefully placed and the element could be replicated on your plate. Having tried it, I can't really agree with your opinion.
  13. The new(ish) 80mph speed limit on I-80 between the lake and Wendover is nice.
  14. It would be difficult to get a frontal shot without actually being in the ride enclosure. Hope somebody is creative enough to figure out a way.
  15. The reason none have appeared online yet in because they thoroughly shake you down for all loose objects and put them in manned cubbies before you reach the trains in the station. I'll see what I can do.
  16. You've missed the point, but I'll answer your questions anyway. Yes, I've ridden Cannibal. I do not have a high coaster count so the only even remotely similar element I've experienced on another coaster is that "dive loop" on Manhattan Express, which is by far the absolute worst thing I've ever experienced on any coaster, Cannibal's "Immelmann-like" element is great so there's no comparison. (btw, the point was, what difference does it make in your life how RCDB lists Lagoon's coasters?)
  17. Here's the official POV (tower not included): [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  18. Here's a good write-up from the ACE "Legacy of Arrow" documentary team. It also has what I think are the first good pictures of the trains: http://bit.ly/Cannibal2015
  19. A bunch of people from lagoonisfun.com will be there too. Maybe we'll see you.
  20. Cannibal still not open to the public... But human beings are now riding it. [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/lBk1pastoNg[/youtu_be]
  21. Nobody knows. The employees don't know. The people building it don't even know. I was there today, it looks ready to open, but it didn't open today. There's a few objects littering the midway and ride enclosure. They could be moved easily. It is suspected that the park won't announce its opening in advance. Again, we don't know that for sure. If it opens tomorrow, you'll hear about it, some of us from lagoonisfun will be there tomorrow just in case. I doubt it will open on a Sunday just because of the religious nature of the state, but I don't know that for sure either. I'd say if you don't hear about it opening tomorrow, if possible, wait until Monday. That way, if it should happen to open Monday, you'll get to ride it. Believe me, everybody wants to know, but nobody does. Sorry.
  22. I've already learned it's best not to give your hopes up when it comes to this ride, at the very least you'll get to ride 2 new coasters (Wicked and Bombora), and maybe, just maybe Cannibal as well.
  23. A user at Lagoon is Fun found the following tidbit of new information about Cannibal in the park's guide for guests with disabilities:
