Lost my inner gyroscope? I found me a new one today This should fix me after that terrifying ride, lol And....the Raiders walk-thru Funhouse... Oh, and the bumper car ruling...Check this out! http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Court-Bumper-Car-Injuries-Not-Amusement-Parks-Fault-185321211.html Let's add water slides to the mix since there's so much variability to one's ride experience.

Why all the screaming, Robb?
Angry_Gumball replied to douggw's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Honestly, for me, hearing the screams, shouts, etc shows the fun being had on such attractions...."LOOOPTEEE LOOOOOP!" And it's what separates TPR from everything else. Having no commentary in the videos is like reading a trip report with just pictures only and no captions...captions are half the fun of a trip report especially if humorous. What's next...telling people to stop screaming when you're nabbing that new credit as it will completely ruin your 1-1 experience with the coaster? *shakes head* -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Angry_Gumball replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yesterday at CGA on the swings...you have our group and some derps. The derps decide to hold hands, twist, and swing pre-ride holding the ride ops back from dispatching. Finally one of us yells out for them to stop swinging so they can start the ride. During the ride they decide to twist again and towards the end decided to hold hands and remove their seatbelts. I could hear them making sarcastic remarks about 'no doing this, no doing that...' They were the first of the YOLO crowds I've seen at these park holiday festivities. -
I'm back from yet another awesome adventure at CGA's Global Winter Wonderland (and of course some Gold Porn). Let's get the Gold Porn out of the way first. Not much has changed since what we saw from GCI a week ago but on the flip side, we did get some shots from inside the park, further making this look very surreal. Oh, and in the parking lot, we noticed some interesting marks...I'm calling it AquaTrax for the time being. Onto the happenings and antics at GWW, some notable moments: • Another insane, scary ride on the Zamperla Mini Tea Cups (Honestly, I thought I was going to get flung out due to the insane spinning I had going. Video coming soon. • Super Yellow Slide is back in all of it's butt-smashing glory...well, almost. We found out that they (Midway of Fun, carnie operator) actually coat their superslide periodically with Armor-All, making it insanely slick. It did however conflict with the cold, moist night air trimming speed down just a pinch. • Gravitron actually made me feel sick for quite a while...never turn your head on these things. • Insanely long ride on ferris wheel since we passed by the ride ops twice when unloading before we got unloaded...our ride lasted about 10 minutes • 4-man ride on Tilt a Whirl • And a highly embarrassing moment on the "Raiders" funhouse. I'm coming down the final tube slide at a decent pace followed by an abrupt stop onto the air pillow where I actually could not get up! I had to roll onto the ground where I could finally have something solid to get myself back upright. • Last ride of 2012 was the flyers...first ride of 2013...what will that be? Pics! Aqua Trax? Hmm... (more shots later) Yup, Stinky Pete's still rocking out his pistol at the park. And now what you've really been waiting for! Fresh Gold Porn! The bottom of the drop, and the 'mid section' lift hill More concrete-ness for you concrete fans The 'almost to the bottom' of the first drop from inside the park. So this is what it will look like when we head to ride Star Tower! C-clamps, waiting for layers of wood before being put to work. The midway curve has steel tracking laid down now... Close up! A final look at Gold Striker for the night. Now, it wouldn't be a carnival without some quality pathways! And high-tech sound systems! Or multi-tasking coaster enthusiasts who appear to be taking photos while texting. Artsy-fartsy shot inside the fart-box..I mean Gravitron! (Yup someone farted in there and it was pretty awful!) Tilt-a-whirl goodness...you know what this means! Since I couldn't get a shot of our faces inside the tub, it was easier to get the feet. And the tubs hold 4 riders each (barely). Ghetto Wheel that broke after 2 rotations when we rode. Yup, check out that dirt dug out...perhaps it will be somewhat ready for that aquatrax to come in for 2014! And some mini tea cup fun! Swwwwsssshhhh! When boarding the bumper cars, we found this new-ish (2012) bumper car signage...sad they have to explain the dynamics of bumper cars. Our well-greased up slide is back in almost all of it's glory! That makes us very very happy! Yup, jeeps...lots of them! And something I noticed getting off the Tilt-a-Whirl...some highly detailed dinos, right down to it's butt! And I'll end it with the mystery project of 20xx, the inverted 4d wooden Vekoma B&M Intamin launched AquaTrax that goes eleventy trillion mph through jumps through rings of fire, does 20 trillion flips, etc... It probably really is for some parking lot re-routing/work in light of the new stadium. Sorry if I got you all excited for a minute!

I'll be out there at the park tomorrow, confirmed! It will be a tad nippy but I'll be ready. And of course, we'll be out there again to hit up the carnival rides of death and the CGA classics. Also as far as GS updates, would be nice to get some photos of my own, even if it's what we saw last week from GCI. Speaking of, you guys deserve some R&R after moving along with this project at a rather fast pace!

^As mentioned on the previous page, I'm hoping to make it out to GWW this weekend, weather permitting. I do have faith though in GCI as they seem to post new stuff by the end of the weeks on their Facebook page (Here's hoping for a nice lunchtime update tomorrow ). I wouldn't expect any updates from the park itself until after the new year since I believe they've had the holiday weeks off.

I'd do some digging in this thread as well (I don't have the specific pages) as there's been some retro stuff/90's stuff posted on here including park maps and brochures. Speaking of old CGA photos, I know I have a few myself from family trips we took back in the day...in fact I know there's one of me riding "Blue Streak" (Now Woodstock's Express) as well as I think there's some shots of the smurf area...I need to take the time and dig out the boxes of old photos and go through them! Oh yea...it just dawned on me, this old site I used to visit back in my early coaster enthusiast years that has some good stuff (Quite a few nice Stealth shots) during CGA's most well-rounded year, coaster-wise. http://twistedrails.com/pga/pga.shtml In other news, looks like Global Winter Wonderland extended their 'season' a week due to the times they had to close up due to bad weather. So rather than Jan 2nd being the last day, it is now the 6th.

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
Angry_Gumball replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Unacceptable wetness here...Yes I like the rain and all but I don't like being in it. Was out Sunday wrapping up some last minute Xmas shopping when the moment I step out of the store, it's a light drizzle. During the long-ish trek to the truck the rain decides it's going to turn itself on full blast leaving me soaked...not amused. Of course, visibility sucked. Today, cold (by bay area standards), windy, and again, wet. I'm ready for summer now. -
I'd definitely recommend hitting up the park during the Holiday event especially if you want re-rideability. Lines were very minimal if any for S:UF. That day, the attendant at the station entrance told us to just pick an empty row (in which most cases we just got to the station as riders in the station had just boarded the train allowing us to pick any row. Other moments lucked out when they needed 4 more riders and we had exactly 4 of us left over to fill out the last 2 rows.

BUMPTASTICNESS!!! So far, I got: RC Helicopter (Almost gave myself a haircut) $25 Gamestop gift card Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii) ZombiU (Wii U) Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3) Resident Evil 6 (PS3) Spintastics "Blizzard" bearing spin top (Sad, kids don't even have the patience to learn these neat toys these days) Update: $20 Walmart gift card Rubber/silicone jacket for my Wii U tablet controller $20 cash Gloves (good for those cold mornings I ride my bike to work)

^To be fair, RCT3 is not the most efficient program out there. Load times are pretty slow-ish even on a higher end machine. Back when it came out, my computer passed the recommended system requirements and a bigger park would lag pretty well. I also maxed out my settings assuming I can do such as I met the requirements.

Mmmmmm....Tuna Melts.... I can see them being overpriced (surprise, surprise...) and can see the contents in the subs being 'skimped out' if they don't already skimp out on toppings and such at a normal Subway. I wonder where it will be located. My guess is that it will be in the old icecream/old sign shop.

La Ronde Discussion Thread
Angry_Gumball replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was just going to say...there's still parks out there that allow you to bring your own food in (without smuggling it like contraband)? I do remember the days that we were able to bring a cooler and such into the park but one year the policies changed...that meant a long trek out to the parking lot and picnic at the car (SFDK has quite a long walk to get from the parking lot to the park itself, or you can hop on the tram (which you pretty much spend the same amount of time in line and hitching a ride). CGA has a closer walk to the parking lot (especially where we usually park) but we typically eat inside anyway as we get a discount on food (Season Pass perks). -
How well do you handle hangtime?
Angry_Gumball replied to Vid_w's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some other rides that offer some nice hangtime but are friendly to my sinuses: V2 and Superman Ultimate Flight at SFDK. When sitting in the front row on the first and third launch forward, you get some awkward diagonal/overbank hangtime. On S:UF, you get full on, butt off the seat hangtime with lapbar only...not going to lie, that was quite a freaky moment! But knowing that there is no way to actually slip out kept me at ease, and allowed me to keep my hands up! Again it's easy on my sinuses since you're only completely inverted for a split second. It's where I like to just let my body relax and be ragdoll-like going through. -
I think Prudential is actually right on the other side of 101 if I'm not mistaken (thought I saw it on Google Maps a while back anyway). I believe you're right about who's currently in those buildings. I know in the past Nortel was one of the tenants (and I think they were part of the roadblock/complaining tenant). I know Namco/Bandai was in there for a while, not sure if they're still there. Back to Gold Striker, I hope this coaster gets taken care of unlike it's cousin up north...which has become quite the rattle-bucket over the years. I remember riding Roar from 1999-2004 and it rode pretty decent during those times. This past weekend it had it's jackhammer moments but was a bit better than 2011 when I rode. I have faith though and they'll take care of GS.
-
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who was making these innuendos (as evidenced during our SFDK trip, talking about the greased up slide)... The Prudential/Middle Finger Turn is definitely directed away from the pesky office buildings. I know the Pictorium building will help dampen a lot of the noise...but I also agree, I'm going to tell myself and believe that the resolutions made for Gold Striker to happen was that the city told them to shove it and deal with it...don't like it, leave! So steel wheels...this thing should fly then! I was under the impression that GS would have PU wheels and possibly give a 'mushy' ride. To get a feel of what it be like/sound like, I was visioning this scenario when riding Thrilla Gorilla at SFDK, in which the ride vehicles run on a PU wheel, running along a steel strip, mounted on a wooden structure. It was pretty quiet, but perhaps a bit 'mushy' for what a wood coaster should feel like.
