For those who were around when SFMM opened a major new attraction... do they usually do any perks for gold pass members? As in, do they have special preview days before it opens to the public? If so, how is it handled? Curious if there will be any chance in h*ll I'll get to ride it without waiting for half the day

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
ioio replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Singlehandedly, the ride that made me get my first Theme Park season pass .... X2 at SFMM. The first time I went on that ride (after having not been to SFMM in about 12 years), I came off legitimately thinking, "wtf just happened"! I felt at various moments in the ride that I was about to fall off, and thankfully the butterfly restraints did their job!!! Three moments on that ride in particular that scared the cr*p out of me: [1] the drop, duh! that drop is insane! [2] that first huge inside raven turn... that floating feeling in combination with looking into a loop was something you just don't feel/see on any other coaster, and you lean very heavily on your restraints at this point [3] that last outside raven turn... you can't see this one coming from your riding position, and I once again, was thankful the restraints did their job. conclusion? This ride to this day was the only ride I've ever felt UNSAFE, but that is exactly why I LOVE IT. legit scared me. <3 -
"Welcome back riders, how was your ride?"
ioio replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
X2 at SFMM, people are usually goo goo for that ride BEFORE it leaves the station too Tatsu sometimes BEFORE you leave, but never AFTER the game cause dispatch is so slow and you lose all your energy hanging there waiting to get back in the station. -
^ I agree, really great interview! I wish there was an extensive interview like this (with him) when X (now X2) first came out! I would love to watch some video discussing the whole design/prototype process of that ride. Really great stuff! A little bummed he thought Wicked Cyclone is the better of the two conversions.... my sentiment was very similar after watching both POVs... The layout of TC is just a big oval :/

Was there today too, very disappointed... (but not surprised): [1] yesterday I posted about my conversation with a CSR about the Dining Pass offer, and of course, after waiting in line through Guest Relations, they refused to honor the pricing that's on their website! no shocker there, no arguing was going to change their mind [2] waited in line for Batman, then it closed due to issues... running one train [3] 5 minute dispatch times on Tatsu (clock says 130 seconds), shockingly, it ran two trains today [4] X2 ... waited 90 minutes, the ride closes down (no test trains either) and reopens 30 minutes later... this makes it the 3rd time in a row that there has been an issue with X2.... same breakdown happened a month ago, it was completely not open two weeks ago, and then this issue today. over 2 hours in line! And running only one train. /rant over Park was shockingly busy today. I guess a 65F day on a weekday off-season holiday didn't make a big difference. Lesson learned

Where Are You Planning to Go in 2015?
ioio replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Will be making an out-of-the-way trip to Cedar Point in September 2015. Have not been here, and cannot wait! My home park is Six Flags Magic Mountain, so I have high expectations (and I'm sure it'll meet them)! Looking forward to the general park experience (which no doubt will be better than SFMM)... and of course, riding MF, Maverick, and Gatekeeper... all look super -
Just got off the phone with SFMM ... first I wanted to say, why is it not a surprise that they have their phone number listed incorrectly on their own website?! It's suppose to be 661-255-4100, NOT 661-255-4400 (https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/plan-your-visit/season-dining-pass-faqs). Also, buying dining passes on their website does not work. SHOCKER? Any who, the CSR told me that the dining passes are available at the current prices on the link above until 12/28/2014. If you want to buy it in the meantime (while they fix their website), you can do so at GUEST RELATIONS at the park.

Yikes, good catch!!! I will be calling SFMM tomorrow (Monday) and update this thread. As I'll be there on Tuesday and was hoping to purchase this for $90 for 2 of us. Question: when you purchased your dining pass during the flash sale in September, do you remember how much they had the dining pass for? And if that included meals for the rest of the 2014 season AND 2015? Curious

2015 passes no longer have photos, it's a finger print scan now. At SFDK there's no finger print scanners at the food vendors and they don't ask for a ID to check the name written down on the pass. Do they at least read the hand-written name on the Season Pass ID? If I had my BF wait in line to get my dinner, instead of myself, would that be an issue?

I don't understand why SFMM does not post this schedule on their website? Their lunch/dinner hours (even general information) does not show up on their site! Fright Fest (fri/sat) closed at 1am, were you able to still get dinner at 10:30pm? All of this important information I would think, for people who have a dining pass :/

Most Overrated coaster?
ioio replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love Tatsu as well, but nothing can really match X2... the other 4D coasters (the two replicas in Japan/China) adds a full/full twist (after the backflip) after the first raven turn (love that element!).... otherwise, isn't it similar to X2? I smile every time I think about my butt being planted on X2
