SFMM doesn't do social media like some of the other Six Flags parks, unfortunately. But, I hope it happens, when that time comes. Wicked Cyclone's looks great. Do we know why SFMM doesn't do major social engagement like a lot of the other big parks do? It seems like a pretty easy thing for them to do and grab a lot of attention. Even little bits would help.

Personally, I don't think the ride is rough at all... bouncy in some parts? Yes! I would say the bouncy parts would be the backflip area between the inner raven turn and the horseshoe. And during both of the half-flip/half-twist elements. If you want it less bouncy, sit in the seat closer to the track. I would still consider X2 my #1 steel coaster... my guess is Twisted Colossus will come in at a close 2nd or potentially overtake it

YIKES! Hopefully the boy was fine, but I'm surprised SFMM doesn't make it more clear how to adjust the harness on X2. Considering that it's one of the more complicated restraints out there, they should have signs (videos?) that show people what to do, or maybe stop the "are you innnnnn?" audio clips and play an audio loop discussing adjustments. OT: does X2 ever run 3 trains? I thought it was theoretically possible, but I NEVER see them do that.

TR for Friday (4/24/2015): arrived at 1:30pm and stayed until 6pm. The weather was low/mid 60s, 10MPH winds max (was afraid they'd close X2). X2 is back to two train operations, everything else was normal (operations wise). Full Throttle was a 5 minute wait at 1:45pm, X2 was a walk-on at 3pm, Tatsu was about a 15 minute wait at 3:30pm. Batman, Lex were walk-ons. Ninja was the longest wait at 15-20 minutes (one train). Twisted Colossus looks RIDICULOUS in all its glory, and that green double-down still looks SO weird in person. RMC were putting additional support/beams on the zero-g roll both times I saw them. Lots of crew members around the track. From atop Lex, I noticed the Screampunk District has more seating area than I anticipated (new concrete poured, planters in the middle)... there were 3 big seating areas. Anyone else experience this on X2? This was pretty insane... My friend (who rode in the row next to me, and was only her 2nd time on X2) came off the ride telling me she didn't remember X2 having that much "airtime", that she was out of her seat for 70% of the ride, and that at the end both of her legs were on the same side of the leg divider (one leg shifted over to the other side during the ride!!!). The first thing that came to my mind was that the restraint was not pushed down to the shoulders, but couldn't confirm. UNTIL, a friend of ours who didn't ride showed us 'this cool pic' she took of us when we got back to the station, and my suspicion was confirmed, her restraint was not pushed down (she's in the seat with the blue arrow in the pic, the restraint is up to her ears!)!!! Anyone else experience this or know of anyone who has? I would imagine this is highly unsafe, but not sure. curious How could the operators miss this? X2 near death experience lol

I just want to thank my friend who's getting married in New England this year... now I coincidentally get the chance to ride both Twisted Colossus (when it opens) and Wicked Cyclone (August) in the same year! My first and second RMC coasters.... BTW: looks like they're painting the steel beams WHITE after all!

... with all of this said, I've seen the same type of random banter (over the PA) on Goliath, and Tatsu as well.

Drive home safely! Can't believe your trip came and gone so quickly! Looking forward to the report from a virgin-Carowind'er -
I hope not too! There are two things I'm thinking of that would be superb for any park... (1) if Premier Rides could land a huge job, so they could design a ride that's fully flushed out! (FT is close, but it needs to be twice as long) (2) a RMC ground-up all-steel coaster (***) a giga coaster at SFMM

On the latest photo, the blue track (before the green transition) is finishing it's outward bank (not as long as before), and I assume that's where the straight-a-way will be into the lift hill (no more banked turn into the lift). Other changes so far: green double-down is much more twisted, the blue hill below the stall has a slightly different profile, and the green stall exits clockwise (super happy about that one!) ... so far all the modifications have been for the better (minus that blue/green transition) :/

It'll be very interesting once TC opens to see how the crowds will disperse. My strategy has always been to watch if they are running test trains on X2 when the park is about to open, if it IS, then I run towards X2. If not, I go to Full Throttle (it's right at the entrance to the park). Regardless, Tatsu would be coaster #2. Then Superman. After that, I go to all the rides at the back of the park (Apocalypse, Riddler's, Batman, Lex Luthor, Goliath). Since TC will most likely be open by July, I'd say go to TC first, then Scream, Goliath, and then do all the rides at the back. You'll want Flashpass at that point to do Tatsu/X2/Full Throttle. If you're talking about inside the park... they all sorta suck. I hear good things about the Full Throttle Sports Bar, but haven't been. Johnny Rockets at the back of the park is not so bad (it's a chain outside the park), and the BBQ place near Riddler's is not too bad. Food service is not SFMM's strong point. Outside the park, not far away is In-N-Out, a California institution. If you can make that happen, I would HIGHLY recommend you get there for dinner after a day at SFMM. There are benches all over the place, so sitting won't be too much of an issue. I've never had an issue finding a seat if I needed one. X2, Tatsu, Full Throttle, and TC are all MUST do rides. The next tier for me would be Superman, Batman, Riddlers, Scream, Lex Luthor, Goliath. And if you get around to it: Viper, Ninja, Apocalypse, Green Lantern. You skip all other rides at the park Personally from this list, I skip Riddlers, Goliath, Ninja, Viper, Apocalypse, Green Lantern and Batman. The new wraps on the trains have not changed the wait queue for the ride. The ride is still popular with the general public. Once TC opens, I'm sure the crowds will do TC+Scream together, and from there it all depends ... Batman/Green Lantern are next to each other to the west, and Lex/Goliath is adjacent to the east. If you get to TC first in the morning, I would do Scream after TC, then Lex, then go to the back of the park (Batman/Green Lantern/Riddlers/Apocalypse).

SUPER happy to hear this! I mentioned previously (somewhere on TPR) that I always wished that stall would exit out the same direction it went in (like Goliath RMC)... and now that wish (seems?) to be coming true!!! I'm curious if this will affect the layout of the rest of the ride. All of the little modifications so far seem to be for the better (minus the now unbanked blue-to-green MCBR transition). Hope we get more surprises like this as they start to wrap up track construction.

OMFG!!! Ticket to SLC please! -
There's a bunch of little things SFMM can do that would improve not only their operations, but their perception. In recent years they've turned things around, but that doesn't mean much when it was utter crapola before. It just went from ultra crapola to so-so crapola. The rides notwithstanding of course, just talking about the environ. I think out of the 10 times I've been in the last 6 months, at least half of those times X2 was closed, and the other 25% it broke down at some point while I was in line. That's pathetic. Multiple rides that are running subpar, with long dispatches. I mean, even the Goliath crew never hits their dispatch times, and they are supposedly the best crew in the park? Tatsu is pathetic, but I'll partially blame the riders on that one. I don't think I've spent a day at SFMM and thought to myself, "wow, they were running on all cylinders today!" ... that would be the day. With that said, can't wait for TC to open so I can plop my ass on that beauty #jaded
