  1. ^I love Ninja (It's actually one of my favorite coasters in the park) and it doesn't hurt me at all but I know it is painful to most people. Hopefully we will see new trains with vest restraints. I can't imagine they would chose Ninja out of all the rides to repaint if it's just a repaint. It would also be a new low for Six Flags to market the ride as "all new" just because of a new paint color but I wouldn't be shocked if that was the case.
  2. Ninja won't be opening until Memorial Day weekend. The fact that they call it "The ALL NEW Ninja" makes me wonder if there is more to it than just the repaint. Could we see VR move to Ninja after the spring season? New trains/restraints? Just new paint?
  3. ^Thank you for posting this! I have been checking every few days for the new map and it's finally here. I have not driven by the park recently, but I hope Ninja isn't actually being repainted that color. I think the red and black fits better and looks good in that area. I am all for new paint, but Ninja was repainted not long ago and still looks fine. At least this helps confirm they probably won't be removing it anytime too soon. I, unlike most, love Ninja. Scorcher should've been the obvious first choice for a fresh coat (in the same current color it has).
  4. I understand sometimes trims are necessary, but often with B&M Hypers I find it hard to believe they are needed. They can be really noticeable. I just hate the placement of them, right before you hit the crest of an airtime hill. Goliath at SFOG has its only trim at the very bottom of the turnaround helix and I much prefer that.
  5. ^The lighting package is wonderful. We have it here at SFOG and it's truly spectacular. It's awesome that SFStL's version has such great placement in the park to really make the ride seem bigger and to show off that lighting package.
  6. As recent as 2001 even. Just before Arrow went bankrupt. Didn't they go bankrupt because of both X being way more expensive than they charged, and the fact that they got ahead of themselves with the R&D and other investments for this Stratosphere project assuming they would get approval. This would've been an awesome coaster! Sad it was never built. Sure, it is Arrow, but Tennessee Tornado was built around that time and is extremely smooth, and this has just straight track. It would've been awesome!
  7. I am curious about this too! Many people have blurred vision from that close up too.
  8. I recall seeing endless comments like this in regards to this coaster. It is so painful. Everyone is so certain when really they are spewing complete nonsense they have made up.
  9. ^YESSS! That's such a great ride. Giant Discovery is a far superior ride to any similar model. I hope Six Flags invests in more of them. I want one here at SFOG.
  10. Coaster: Skyrush (or a custom layout) Thrill Ride: Mondial Top Scan
  11. That's lucky he was re-rescued essentially. It's interesting to know the stories behind the animals in the park.
  12. Because it is small. The chairs only go up to something like 130 feet, maybe 135 at most right? Stupid height limit. I didn't realize they had a tiny version until I got to the park, and I am so used to the 240 foot model at SFOG that it just looked so odd. It's too bad they have that height limit but I still think the smaller version was a good addition.
  13. ^Watching. Slow Friday at work! This addition is going to finally get me to do all the parks along the east coast.
  14. I don't think I'm your type, but for me, this would definitely help.
  15. ^I Completely agree with this. Dropping the Florida parks would open your itinerary up so much and you could easily do SFOG and even add in a Lake Winnie pit stop if the timing is right.
  16. I haven't been following this too closely but I was bummed they didn't go for worlds tallest and fastest (if that would be allowed without height restrictions or anything), but considering the cost and reliability difference for this type of launch and trains, I guess they save a lot more than just on structure. Looking great!
  17. I'm sure this has been stated in this thread already, but is Riddler Revenge a Zamperla Giant Discovery like Black Widow at Kennywood. That is by far my favorite model and honestly will be a deciding factor on if I try to get back out to SFOT this summer.
  18. Goliath at SFOG has a largest drop of 175 feet but it's height from lowest point in the track to highest is 200 feet. That one is even more controversial! (Still possibly the best B&M hyper though)
  19. Really? I was a gadv pass holder from 2008-2011, but I haven't been to the park since. I'm making my return this summer, and I'm really curious to see just how much has changed. Golden Kingdom and Plaza del Carnival were both excellent when they first opened. That was under Premier ownership, which is long gone. Once Shapiro took over he scrapped all those plans for ride removals and budget conscious decisions. He actually tried to cancel El Toro, but (THANK GOD) it was just a tad too far into construction to cancel. Supposedly Premier had plans to continue expansion into 2007 and beyond but obviously that didn't happen. In an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution discussing and touring the construction of Goliath at SFOG, Shapiro made the direct statement "No more Goliaths" so yes El Toro was lucky to be built. Imagine not having El Toro...
  20. Really? I was a gadv pass holder from 2008-2011, but I haven't been to the park since. I'm making my return this summer, and I'm really curious to see just how much has changed. Golden Kingdom and Plaza del Carnival were both excellent when they first opened. The new safari tour is amazing and Rolling Thunder is gone. Not much else has changed that drastically.
  21. ^That's what I said, but thank you for rephrasing. I'm curious what the state laws and industry standards are if they exceed those.
  22. When this same thing happened at Six Flags Over Georgia (for the second time on Batman ...SMH), the park increased signage to something like every 10 feet and the sign warns of electrocution and things that are just unnecessary and unpleasant to have to read while walking into the park. I am glad Cedar Point is standing their ground. By changing things, the claim that it wasn't good enough before becomes more arguable.
  23. ^That would've been amazing! I love skiing and ski resorts but I know Disney could far outdo even the nicest ski resorts.
  24. I never felt Skyrush looked underwhelming at all at first glance. Those of us who have been on Mega-Lites and other smaller Intamin rides know what to expect. They have the ability to pack a LOT of intense ride action into a small space. Yea I don't know if you were looking at the correct ride. Skyrush never looked underwhelming for a second. Also when you first encounter the ride at the park before riding it you can see it absolutely tear through the course. Personally, I thought Skyrush looked very underwhelming from POVs (compared to how amazing and intense it actually ended up being when I did ride it). I took it as a coaster with decent airtime and an uninspired layout. Once I rode it for the first time my mind changed completely and it is now my #1 coaster if I had to rank. That said I don't think this looks as impressive as Skyrush simply comparing off ride footage. I am all for as intense as possible (within legal and physical reason). I hope I can get out there to ride it one day though as it looks like a top notch coaster!
  25. Thank you for posting this! I have always been intrigued by this coaster and the lack of documentation of it drives me crazy.
