  1. One of the best ride ops I have heard was at Blue Streak for Coastermania in 2013. "It's more of a force than Millennium Force! It's more of a thrill than Top Thrill Dragster! It's more of a keeper than Gatekeeper! Welcome to the ................. Cedar Creek Mine Ride!
  2. I went to Six Flags Great America on Thursday, June 10, 2010 and had somewhat long waits. I went again on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 on an overcast, windy, somewhat rainy day with temperatures in the low 60s. The park was packed with long waits for everything. Raging Bull was 45 minutes, and Viper and Whizzer were 30 minutes. Even to order lunch at 1:30 was a 20 minute wait. The crowds were just as bad after the rain stopped as before it started raining. I heard someone say that he was there 2 weeks ago, and the longest wait was 15 minutes. Would anyone have any suggestions about good days to go to the park?
  3. Boulder Dash is one of my top 5 wooden coasters. I went to Lake Compounce for the only time on a weekday in June, 2011, and got 6 daytime rides in about 3 hours. I'd like to go back and get as many rides as possible, especially night rides. ACE had an event there on a Saturday the first weekend of August of this year. The upside of going to an ACE event is one hour of nighttime ERT. The downsides are being at the park on a Saturday when it's likely to be crowded, and getting only one hour of ERT. The other alternative is going on a day when the crowds would be light and night rides on Boulder Dash would be available. The park is about a 24 hour drive for me, so I'd really like to maximize my time there. Could anyone give me any suggestions about how to do that? Thanks.
  4. Ravine Flyer II - 45 times. The lines were really short, The Voyage - 31 times. The best ride of any type that I've ever ridden.
  5. Cedar Fair, please take note and add to your 5-year plan! This ride doesn't take much space.
  6. You might be a coaster nerd if at every opportunity, you try to start a conversation with the ride ops and ask them questions.
  7. The Riverview Park Bobs (Chicago) Texas Cyclone (Astroworld) Coney Island Thunderbolt If I could build a theme park, there would be re-creations of all 3 in it.
  8. I tend to develop blisters when I walk a lot at a park. Before I go, I put Bandaids on the trouble spots and keep a few extras in my cargo shorts.
  9. I love the Zipper. It's one of the wildest rides I've ever ridden. I e-mailed Holiday World and suggested they get one. Someone should make a Zipper that runs on coaster track.
  10. That's awesome because I did that; except it was a wedding and only 288 miles. Which coaster?
  11. You might be a coaster nerd if your dream enthusiast event includes meeting the Gravity Group guys.
  12. You might be a coaster nerd if your idea of a perfect day at Holiday World includes 2+ hours with the Coaster Cats.
  13. You might be a coaster nerd if you go out of town for a family funeral, and on the way home you drive 460 miles out of your way to ride Boardwalk Bullet.
  14. You might be a coaster nerd if you read in one place that the Voyage is 6,422 feet long and in another place that it's 6,442 feet long, so you e-mail Holiday World to ask them which one is right. (6,442 is right.)
