  1. ^ I read a rumour both here and on Great Adventure History that the park was slated to get the S&S 4D for this season. Supposedly, after Zumanjaro's many delays which caused it to go over budget, the park had to scrap the coaster and got a super loop instead. No idea if it's true, but the existence of this rumour makes me think GAdv is next up for the 4D. I just hope if we do get one, it's a custom layout and not an exact clone of the one at SFFT. But I still think GAdv is getting Justice League: Battle for Metropolis next year.
  2. Most likely coaster for GAdv, I feel, is a S&S 4D Free Spin like the one being built at SFFT.
  3. The game last night was proof that the one-and-done system that Kentucky employs won't win you much in the end. Kentucky's superstar freshmen went up against a Wisconsin group thats been together for a few years, and gave UK the outcome they deserved. Calipari's recruiting system has ruined college basketball, IMO.
  4. There's a zoo by my house (the Staten Island Zoo) that recently added a carousel, and it seems to be a hit with families. I can see them adding another ride or two in the coming years, but I doubt they'd ever add a coaster. But I agree, adding rides to zoos are very good ideas.
  5. The Rangers look like they're on a mission. I can't wait for these playoffs to start.
  6. A roller coaster at a zoo. What a great idea. I wish the Bronx Zoo would build a coaster.
  7. So glad I decided to go Friday instead of yesterday. I'll take rain with most every ride running over a sunny day with nothing open. Now I need to plan my return visit. I want to go again before Coasters After Dark but that remains to be seen.
  8. ^^ I saw that supervisor, too. She definitely didn't look pleased with her crew. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but most of the mistakes were avoidable. At one point the guy at the panel was mumbling into the mic, and the pair checking restraints had to stop and walk to the booth just to hear what the op on the mic was saying. That's not "opening day kinks", thats laziness.
  9. Love this idea. Unfortunately there would be a 0% chance of the State of New Jersey allowing such a thing. They won't let Ka and Zum run together due to fear of falling objects, so I doubt we'll ever get a ride coming right over the entrance plaza. But it does look like something is going into Old Country.
  10. It hasn't. The ride ops at most of the coasters I rode today (Batman, Skull Mountain, Mine Train, Bizarro, and Green Lantern) were even encouraging people to ride again.
  11. ^^ Reading comprehension is your friend. I said El Toro was the one with an hour wait. And he isn't the only person to say Nitro was running all 3 trains so they probably put them on later. And at Six Flags parks, you are indeed allowed to stay in your seat if no one is waiting for that row. Don't call someone out if you don't know what you're talking about
  12. ^ What time did you ride Zumanjaro around? I was at the park from opening until 2, and like I said, didn't see it cycle. Now I'm bummed out because I definitely would have ridden Zum if I knew it was open.
  13. ^ Zumanjaro was open? I didn't see it cycle once today. Also, I rode C train on Nitro (which was the only train they were running at the time) and didn't experience any rattle, but I also rode in row 1 so I can't speak for the rest of the train. You're right about Green Lantern and Mine Train, both were walk-ons for me.
  14. It's been mentioned and discussed repeatedly; Six Flags does not open their new additions with the park. They use construction to entice people to buy season passes to return when the ride is complete. And although it isn't built yet, for what it's worth they were certainly working on the site today. I even saw a piece of the ride structure being trucked into the site on a flatbed.
  15. Well then shame on you... I always bring a high-end stopwatch (the iphone ones aren't accurate enough) and time every single dispatch when I go to any park. Then I put it into an excel document and let the other enthusiasts know. You sir need to get it together. My stopwatch was in the shop.
  16. Holy sh*t. That's horrid. How long was the line? I wasn't keeping an accurate time, but I'd estimate it took my friend and I about 60 minutes from when we entered the line until we boarded. Part of our wait however was due to the fact that we foolishly decided to wait for the front row. The crew just didn't seem to know what they were doing.
  17. Stick it in your pants...they only check bags. Damn. Well like TIMtationX said, this will certainly bring about change.
  18. Is there no security checkpoint at USH? How could someone be able to bring a gun into the park?
  19. It was still a great ride, but it just felt like it was missing a little extra something. I can't really explain it. Maybe I'm just so used to Nitro running with a little edge to it that I was thrown by its newfound smoothness.
  20. Just got back from the park. They did indeed add a guests without bags line. Nitro and El Toro both had one train ops, and El Toro's crew was awful. They were averaging about 10 minutes between dispatch. Didn't notice any work being done by Old Country, but certainly near the El Diablo site. Nitro's train (the one they were running, anyway) did indeed has new wheels, but they need to be broken in because the ride was too smooth, if that makes sense. Successful opening day, so glad the season has begun.
  21. ^ Lines depend on crowds, and given tomorrow's forecast, I'm betting crowds won't be overwhelming. If it does indeed rain tomorrow, Kingda Ka will most likely be closed. But besides that, GAdv's rain policy is great in that they don't close anything.
  22. ^ Depends on the day. Kids are out of school during that time. Weekdays would be preferable to weekends. During the day the park has a lot of camp groups visiting, but they usually leave by 4-5 pm. A flash pass isn't usually necessary on weekdays, but that varies. I'd wait until after I arrive to decide on whether or not to buy one.
  23. What is going on with the water tower? Are they painting it, Boldikus?
  24. You're right. I don't know why I'm not more excited about this, but for some reason I can't shake the thought that this endeavor will be a flop at GAdv. Perhaps when the event comes closer, I'll have a change of heart. I'm actually hoping that I do.
  25. Why are you assuming Wicked Cyclone will be open by then? It's a Six Flags project, expect delays.
