  1. ^ I remember being shocked that TCM was open last year, the night we were there was fairly chilly. But its understandable that its already down for the year. Looks like no flume for you, Billy.
  2. I'm not saying you are wrong because obviously you work there and all but according to the website Thunder Creek Mountain's status is "Fall Operating Hours: Saturdays & Sundays during daytime operation only. Weather permitting. " I know it was open during the day when we were there for Haunt last year but that was earlier in the season, in late September. Speaking of which, did Dorney shorten their Haunt this year by a couple of weeks? We went the last weekend in September last year but according to their operating calender Haunt is only 3 weekends this year?
  3. That's really a shame to hear because its easily the most intense few seconds of ride in the entire park. We'll be by to check it out and see if its running, for sure. I'm also a big fan of Dominator too so as long as one of them are open. Hoping to get up there before Haunt starts, probably around 4/5pm. Music Express I won't ride (too much spinning) and Tilt A Whirl is really only if the other half wants to ride.
  4. ^ I will definitely be over at Demon Drop! That thing is bonkers. My other half hasn't ridden one of those since Stuntmans' Freefall @ Great Adv waaaaaay back in the day, so I'm excited to get her on DD. If you guys see me say hi. As long as the weather doesn't change to rain, we'll be there!
  5. It freaking gorgeous here today!
  6. Interpol - What Is What
  7. Hello! I know y'all are excited, but please help us out and credit the source of your photos, especially when the park is closed. It helps maintain the integrity of the sources of information. Thanks, and more photos to come! Tony I just have to say I absolutely love what you do for the enthusiasts. It would be even more amazing if you posted on here regularly
  8. I don't like to hear stories of long lines @ Dorney! Heading up with the crew this Saturday night but looks like its gonna be COLD! I know it can change but seeing that it should be 39* by midnight. Brrrrrr! I told everyone I'm going with "plan on layering!" Hoping that keeps some folks away. We're not big on trails but we did Haunt @ Dorney last year and the park itself was busy but most coasters had little-to-no wait. *crosses fingers*
  9. Hearing from lots of locals/regulars that yesterday was one of the busiest days any of them had seen. I guess the crappy weather last weekend forced lots of folks to push their trip back a week. Seems busy today too from what I can tell. Glad I stayed far far away.
  10. Glad you got the real Dorney experience, as this is precisely why I love this park. I'm heading up this coming Saturday, tho I'm sure it'll be more crowded than usual with Haunt going on, but nothing is ever more than 5-20 minute wait. Agreed 100%. I know I'm in the minority around these parts but Talon is my favorite invert. I don't have too many to compare to (Batman, Raptor, Great Bear) but there is something about Talon that just does it for me. It's super smooth, thrilling enough but not balls out intense like the others. And yes, Dorney is lame-town because of their stupid re-ride policy. Doesn't stop me from asking the crew if I can stay on the train. Spot on. Hydra sucks. I never understand what anyone sees in this ride. I also love Possessed! Next to Talon its my fave ride in the park. You didn't miss anything by skipping Thunderhawk. Very rough and trimmed to death. Which drop tower did you guys do? I like them both (I'm a sucker for S&S towers) but Demon Drop is just insane. Looking forward to more report!
  11. Well, there may be people here who know the situation first-hand, but Googling with time filters to show only recent mentions would be a good way to keep track of news as it becomes available. The conjecture is that the proprietor of the site and its coaster content has passed away, but I haven't seen an official source confirm this. I don't know anything about the site's standing in the coaster fandom/media ecosystem, but it's always sad to read untimely reports about a person who shares in our common love for parks. Yeah this seems to be what happened. I have no idea how he passed. There are loads of posts in the Great Adventure Connoisseurs FB group about him - including a kickstarter to help his family w/ the costs of this. I never met him but chatted with him via FB and Twitter a few times, saw him in the park a few times from a distance (once in the Nitro queue caught him and his buddies doing his "YES!" chant in the front row as they rounded the curve to the lift), and I really enjoyed his videos and site mainly because he seemed like a really weird funny guy. His goal seemed to be to make something incredibly fun even more fun for everyone around him. Huge bummer, and I feel terrible for his wife since she was always with him, always in all his clips and pix. Someone posted that he had his social media channels set to autopost well in advance so creepily there will likely be videos/updates appearing for a bit.
  12. Great report so far, wish it had some pictures though. Funny about the national anthem thing, I guess I'm just used to it growing up here, but have to admit I am one of those that tend to ignore it and continue chatting lol. Also, I'm reading your entire report in a British accent which makes it infinitely more entertaining.
  13. ^ Not much. It's nothing like Haunt or Fright Fest. No scare actors, only one "trick or treat" trail essentially for little kids, they change the names on the coasters (Scarerush, Fearenheit, etc) and put up some lighting displays and decorations. I was a little let down when we went last year until I realized soon after we got in that its basically an event for parents w/ small children therefore lines for the coasters were 0-20 minute waits. Oh they also turn off the running lights on the woodies (and I believe Laff Trakk now) for the last hour of the night.
  14. This fits here... its pretty weird. And hilariously awesome. In the comments to a Youtube of Skull Mountain: (yes I watch SM POV's late at night after the missus has gone to bed)
  15. I like where this thread is going. Also, in case I haven't said so, this thing looks awesome!
  16. Great report and photos, as always CFC. Never been to any of these parks and reeeeally feeling a Cali trip soon.
  17. Good point, I didn't even think of that. I'll look into it.
  18. ^ Its not a pet peeve of mine but I definitely think its hilarious when folks do that.
  19. Hey anyone got any discounts for Haunt that are cheaper than the $37.50 or whatever the tix are through the DP site? Looks like a group of us are gonna be up next weekend (weather permitting), and none of us are CF passholders, and while that's already pretty cheap, any help would be appreciated.
  20. B&M - Apocalypse GCI - Roar East (close tied with Wildcat but I enjoyed Wildcat more than Roar) Intamin - Kingda Ka (not too many bad Intamins. while I don't hate Ka, I just don't really like it.) also anyone who voted Skull Mountain:
  21. All of this basically. I like the wonky turnaround up top while standing, the first drop is fast and feels pretty high, the vertical loop feels really high and its pretty awesome and then the train turns to the right and the entire ride goes to sh*t. Tho I do dig that pop of standup air off the MCBR.
