  1. It is good that they are delaying to make sure they are safe. Two days of testing would be a tight squeeze, and when it comes to a coaster, there is no such thing as too much testing.
  2. Someone asked for a picture of the train on the tracks a few a few posts back, so here it is:
  3. Lightning Run is completely safe. The shaking I'm sure is designed to "deaden" the coaster's force into the track. If it didn't shake, the supports would be taking a hard slam every time and could cause damage under that force. I know that wooden roller coasters use the rule "if it doesn't shake it will break", and they use the "play" in the track to cause less stress on the supports.
  4. Does anyone know if they will be installing a webcam for this coaster so we can check the progress?
  5. All of this hype is making me jealous! I am so glad to hear LR is a hit at Kentucky Kingdom, as they deserve to succeed in their park after they spent so much time cleaning the place out getting it back open.
  6. Track work almost complete! Now all that they have to do is fill the track with grout, place topper track onto the gaps without it, test the ride clearances, and test . . .
  7. ^I agree completely. I guess a small video is better than nothing, though. This video was probably the worst of all of them - the other ones at least have interviews, which give viewers some information about the ride.
  8. I love any slide with light effects - no doubt these will be amazing! Those "cylinders" look like they will have some nice oscillating motion!
  9. Sounds like Lightning Run is a HUGE hit: http://www.negative-g.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5005
  10. Love how that turn in the last photo is mainly unsupported. This should be a great coaster. Now the battle is on: Lightning Run or Thunderbolt to win the best "underdog" coaster of the season.
  11. ^From the reviews they seem like they have more airtime than Millennium Force (good thing!)
  12. ^Looks like they are lifting up a piece of lift chain return. Saw them doing that yesterday from inside the park.
  13. ^ I saw some small lights from yesterday mounted on the turn into the lift (wish I had a picture to show you - maybe next week I will get one.)
  14. Out of your seat for the whole ride on Lightning Run - sounds fun! I really need to get here. Lightning Run seems like the surprise coaster for the 2014 season.
  15. That new piece of track looks more vertical than 85 degrees! Probably just the webcam, though.
  16. Nice photos! The coaster is looking great from inside the park. Once some more orange track is installed on the lift I believe it will look even better! (gives contrast to the brown)
  17. The tilting at the end is looking pretty smooth. Should be a good sign!
  18. Here is Saturday's work: (without cranes) or most of them
  19. I'm not sure - I thought the same thing after seeing Skyrush under construction but it wasn't really intimidating once I sat down in the seat. I actually thought Skyrush (unlike most coasters, for me) look taller in person than in the pictures and videos. Anyway, looks good. I'm one of those people that would have rather had a traditional wooden lift structure but I'm fine with this one, and I'm sure that its awesomeness will make up for that. I think the thing that makes Goliath intimidating is the thin beams that make up the lift structure. That is one thing Skyrush does not have - Skyrush is more of a thick beam.
  20. That last photo shows the true beauty of Goliath! This looks crazy! I can't wait to check it out this weekend!
  21. Another good sign! I really need to get to Kentucky Kingdom this year.
  22. *cough* Beast *cough* I'm starting to get this cough too...
  23. "Smoothest coaster I have ever ridden!" That is certainly a good sign! Can't wait for this!
  24. Just watched the ridercam . . . the ride looks even more intense from that angle! This coaster seems to get MORE intense as the coaster goes on, so the riders should slam into the brakes with a smile on their faces - definetely no letdown.
  25. ^ I think they could be working on the braces that hold the track for the drop right now.
