  1. Great report! That inverted top hat looks nice!
  2. I Don't think so. When I was at the construction site about a month ago, we had to cross the tracks and they were about 30 feet from the structure so they weren't moved.
  3. This. They have so much land to develop on They might even be able to squeeze in another I 305.
  4. Only 48 days 'til Banshee media day!
  5. ^^ I'm sure they will, but it would be awesome if they put a 3-dimentional bat figure on the front car. Not very likely, though
  6. Wild Thing at Valleyfair. Pitch black + airtime = fun!
  7. I agree. Much brighter and more colorful than the old trains.
  8. Here's a new photo of the Bat's trains from King's Islands twitter feed.
  9. It looks like they're going to be close. Given that the whole lift structure will go up fast, I think they will make it.
  10. Do bumpy rides cause brain damage? Read an article about that once.
  11. Looks like Banshee's lights for the lift were installed earlier today.
  12. This is a wild guess, but maybe they will put the logo of Banshee there. That would be very cool.
  13. Looking good! Quick question: the track being installed is for the banked turn at the end of the ride not after the first drop - right?
  14. You should go! Banshee at night will be incredible -- possibly better than the Beast!
  15. It's not finished in that photograph. Yes, however, if you look at where the future track will be, the footers, and also the webcam, there will surely be enough space for a new coaster!
  16. Here's a photo of work being done in the station that King's island just posted on their twitter feed.
  17. ^ Banshee doesn't seem to take up as much space as the old SOB. The possibility of another coaster in that area is looking more and more possible.
  18. Totally agree with you. I think the outside of the station looks to "modern" and lively for the theme.
  19. It was probably changed due to time constraints. (A minimalistic steel structure take less time to build than a massive wooden structure).
  20. Who cares if it's a wood coaster. I recall a few years back, at IAAPA, Alan Schilke said he wanted to make rides that look intimidating. I think the new lift looks WAY more intimidating than the old renderings. The new change looks great.
  21. This report was delayed due to the intense pressure of getting ready for my high school entrance exam -- high schools in Chicago are very competitive! Going on the Goliath construction tour was the only joy in a week filled with homework, school, and test prep. A huge thanks to TPR, Robb and Brandon at Six Flags for organizing this behind the scenes tour. It was worth freezing to death to get a look at the construction on what looks like a great new coaster. We even got to be interviewed by WGN News and it would be fun to make it into the segment on Monday morning. On with the tour... Heading to the tour! Six Flags needed to construct this arch in the structure to allow vehicles to pass through in the case of an emergency. Looks like RMC brought one of their cranes from Idaho to Chicago. I wonder if they brought the wood as well. Banked turn under construction. This hill should deliver some airtime. Brandon said all the structure is 15% compete and all of the footers are finished - That's the slow work. I spy the construction cam... As a shortcut, we headed through the maintenence shop and here is Raging Bull (my favorite coaster in the park) getting some off-season tlc. The tour concluded with a look at the theming for the ride. The ride entrance looks nice! Goliath is shaping up to be a great coaster. I hope the wait time signs look like this in the summer!
