  1. I think it's definitely possible that Fury 325 could have a 2-3 hour line on Opening Day because this is a 325 foot tall giga coaster we're talking about here. The GP loves these gimmicks, so I'd expect a lot of people to flock to this ride once it's open. And no, coaster enthusiasts will not be the reason for a huge line because on any given day at a park, less than one percent of park guests are enthusiasts.
  2. No, if they did I would know what that is. During the season I go there all the time and I know lots about the park. Yep, Valleyfair does not have a ProSlide Tornado. However it would be nice to see one replace the old slides in a few more years. I hear good things about them, and they look visually appealing. Holiday World's Zinga (from Wikipedia)
  3. ...on an unusually warm day during the offseason, you think "{home park} should fire up {name of coaster} for me".
  4. Used to be Batman: The Ride for me, now I'd give it to Goliath at Six Flags Great America. A lot of people complain about this ride being too short, but what it does during it's duration is really amazing. Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer ride something that's short and sweet rather than long and okay.
  5. ^ I think the reason they're doing it on the 14th is because Valleyfair is closed for a private event on the 7th.
  6. I will definitely be going on the new slides once they are open. I can see where you're coming from because that's how I used to feel about thril rides. Just looking at them could make me scared, but once it started, wasn't scared anymore. I'm sure that once these slides are open, they'll be the new best attractions in the waterpark. The two speed slides will actually tie for the 13th tallest waterslides in the world. Pretty impressive.
  7. 50 degrees is too high! B:TR at SFSL operates at well below that temp. I'm not saying 30 is good, but 50 isn't the number. I'd heard that 42 degrees (give or take a few) is the minimum temperature that most B&Ms can operate in, but I could be wrong.
  8. More slide tower construction going on this morning. Can't wait to see the actual slides go up.
  9. I don't think that anniversaries have that much of an impact on what parks get for that year. Kings Dominion really didn't get much of anything for their 40th anniversary, and neither did Dorney Park for their 130th (they got a slide tower, nothing too major). That being said, I still think it's quite possible that MiA could receive something fairly significant in 2016 because there has been a lot of preparation for something big going on lately. Plus, the park has kept capital expenditures low lately, possibly to save up for whatever their big new attraction could be.
  10. ^ If this really is going to increase Mad Mouse's capacity, then I'm all for it because Mad Mouse can have the longest wait in the park sometimes (not the longest line, but the short trains kill capacity). Also, they changed the webcam angle so we can see the slide tower go up higher, looks great.
  11. I get what you mean. I looked up the temperature averages for Charlottle, and the average temperatures for November are mostly in the 60s, which is not bad park weather at all. That's why I wish more parks would extend their operating season beyond Halloween (where the climate allows it, of course). Then again, besides coasters enthusiasts, most people don't want to ride a coaster when the temperature is below 60.
  12. Just a thought, I think that Carowinds should probably hold a Christmas event on of these days, similar to how KBF does Knott's Merry Farm. Based on their temperature averages, it would be warm enough to keep the rides open on almost every night, and since Carowinds is starting to grow into a relatively large park, I think a Christmas event would go over well there. Or, is there a reason why a Christmas event wouldn't work?
  13. Great picture of Cedar Point from their Facebook page.
  14. Just wondering, do all of the Cedar Point hotels offer early access, or is it only Hotel Breakers? Also, my trip will likely be second week of June during the week. How bad should crowds be?
  15. A ten-year plan seems like a bit of a stretch, but I'll do one anyway. -2016: Zamperla Giant Discovery that replaces amphitheater, and Larson Flyers going somewhere in Route 76. -2017: $12-$15 million B&M invert that is built in-between High Roller and Renegade, causing relocation of some of the buildings back there. -2018: Waterpark expansion #2, which removes Panic Falls slides and the old Splash Station. -2019: Additions to Planet Snoopy and/or Route 76. -2020: General improvements, nothing major. Last season for Dinosaurs Alive. -2021: Triotech dark ride, replacing Dinos. -2022: Waterpark expansion #3. Path from Planet Snoopy to Wheel of Fortune is rerouted, Mad Mouse is relocated to Wild Thing's turnaround, and games near Mad Mouse are destroyed. -2023: More general improvements. Last season for Excalibur. -2024: RMC wooden coaster replacing Excalibur. Last season for Looping Starship. -2025: New flat ride (maybe some cool new concept that will have been invented by 2025) replaces Looping Starship.
  16. I think this ride probably won't be open until April or May because announcing a ride and then opening it a few weeks/days later just doesn't sound like something a park like this would do, but hopefully they'll prove me wrong.
  17. You can still see most of the view from the webcam. It's hard to tell, but they might have put in more slide tower supports.
  18. I think Gerstlauer EuroFighters are good examples of great compact coasters. They pack a nice thrill into a small amount of space. Even though they seem to be getting a bit rougher with age, they are still all-around fun rides. I also really like Intamin Impulse coasters. A lot of people tend to brush them off and say "Oh, it's just an impulse coaster", but I think they're a lot of fun. Sure, the launch may be a little weak, but after that, it's a relatively intense ride.
  19. Why would Cedar Fair be planning to sell Michigan's Adventure if they just bought new land for the park? That makes no sense.
  20. Might not be a bad idea for a future Valleyfair dark ride. Even though I'm not a huge dark ride fan, the GP loves them, and it would be unlike anything else at the park. Although, I don't think we'd get one for another four or five years because there are a few things other than a dark ride that we need first, and I think they'd try out more dark rides at the larger parks first.
  21. Yes, I think this park has some brighter days ahead of it, they're just making some necessary preparations so everything with fall into place in a few more years.
  22. ...you can't even get your park's coasters correct on a park mug. (Credit for these photos goes to berryfarm in the SFMM thread.)
  23. Good to know that Valleyfair thinks that doing something to Wild Thing might be worthwhile. Don't know if this would mean reprofiling parts of the layout, getting new trains, or both, but any of those would work for me. Also, the park recently tweeted about shooting a video for a VF blog. Not exactly sure what this will be, but I'd love to see them do something like Cedar Point's PointCast.
